Working during holidays.

Holidays are approaching. For many of us this is time for rest, relax, laziness, trips. This is time when one can soak up the hot sand all day or go to the mountains. However there are people who will work hard in the holidays. Let's take a look for ways of working during holidays.

Nowadays increasingly popular are international projects that offer employment for students. One of them is, for example, The Work & Travel USA. It was created by the American government, in order to enable cultural exchange between Students from around the world and the people of the United States. Students participating in the program receive help to make the holiday employment in tourist towns across the United States. By participating in the program you can learn about the culture and lifestyle of Americans  as well as take a fascinating travel and visit places of your choice after work.

You can also go abroad on your own. For example, a lot of students during the holidays going with backpacks and tents to Norway. They knock on the door and ask if they can help for example in painting the fence or mowing grass, in this way they earn. It a good way to learn perseverance and responsibility. Moreover it can be a great adventure which you will remember the rest of your life.

Many students also take a course of tutor in a colony to be able to go with children to summer camp. This is way not only to make money, but also to have fun and see many interesting places. Of course, this involves some skills and a necessity to complete the course.

A great solution for the student can be also a paid internship or practice. It's not only a good way to earn money but also to gain experience, knowledge, expertise and familiarity in your future profession. In addition, it can pay off finding a permanent job.

Of course you can also stay in Poland. There are a lot of types of seasonal work.  It can be a job in the wider catering industry. During the holidays restaurants looking for waiters and waitresses to their gardens. You can also find a job as a barman or kitchen help. Holiday Resorts is always looking for people who will sell ice cream or waffles or will deal with selling souvenirs from holidays.

Like as you see there are a lot of chances of finding a job, it only takes desire.

Now, questions for you :

  1. What are you going to do during holiday?
  2. Have you ever worked during holiday? What was the job?
  3. What do you think about projects like The Work & Travel?

  1. In my opinion people should rest during holiday. I study a lot of during school term so I really need relax. For example during holidays we can visit new places. It will increase our knowledge and experience. The natural scenery of those places will give us joy. We can also pay visits to our friends and relatives during holiday. We must enjoy holidays fully. But we should not forget our books. If we do not touch our books, we shall forget everything. It will then be difficult for us to prepare our old lessons. Hence we should revise them during holidays. But we need not read much we may also read story books and books of travel. We shall find interest in them. They will increase our knowledge and at the same time give us pleasure and encourage us to travel. If we spend the vacation in this way, it will do good to our body and mind. It will restore our energies and fit us for work again. Thus after spending the cacation wisely we shall again be able to work hard with a cheerful mind.

  2. I fell this year my holidays will be fantastic. I am going to Sant- Petersburg on a course of russsian launguage with my friends. I can not wait to see the white nights and spend time with my colleagues. Than I am going to Bieszczady with my boyfriend. In august I would like to go hitchhiking to France, but I afraid, that my parents won't let me to travel this kind of transport. It looks beautiful, but I don't know whense I will have money.. I have worked for 8 years. I live in a town, where there are a lot of gardens. Every year I break up fruits. It is a small work, but I am happy that I can spend my time usefully-outdoor, with my friends, without computer. And I think every young person should earn money during summer time. In my opinion teenagers learn how to sparingly spend money, how to be responibile and punctual.Than they respect thier savings. Of course everybody should rest, but work for two weeks in my opinion is very beneficial. I think that project like The Work & Travel it's a fantastic idea. You can learn and work in the same time. You can experience a fantastic adventure, meet new people, other coulture. Apart from that you learn how to solve problems without help of familly and friends.

  3. I am going to the internship from my school to Lebanon for two months. I think it will be unusual and memorable trip. I am going to work there most of the time, but I hope to see so many interesting places.
I have work during my holiday for money. Last holiday I spent into my internship too. Maybe I can call it 'work', because I work there so hard, but for me it was something what I like to do and what I want to do in the future. It is some kind of hobby. It was an excavations.
I think that projects like The Work & Travel are a perfect idea for young people who want to see something. It has a lot of adventages like: meeting new people, learn something more, improve languages and earn some money.

  4. I plan to go on holidays in few places. First I will go on summer camp with group of children. I'm a tutor there but it isn't a job it's volunteering. Aftre It I go to Norway for three weeks to work. I have already been there two years ago and I work there on the farm. This is only part of holidays when I plan to work. Then I go with my friend to Estonia by hitch-hiking. And I plan to finish my holidays in Maroco climbing in mountains.
In previous year I was working in cafe in warsaw. It was nice expirience because have never tried it before to be waiter. I met there a lot of realy nice people.
The Work & Travel It's good Idea for spending time by holidays but If someone wants to earn real money should try find somthing other. Becase on "W&T" you earn firs some money to spend it after work. So you return to Polnd without the money.

  5. I'm going to have an intership from half of june to half of august and then I'm want to go to Tatra for a 2-3 weeks. If I join the company in september,I'll ask about a possiblity of going abroad for 10 days including a weekend (it's connected with social media, so maybe I'd get an agreement), if my employer, do not want me there, I just will go for 2 weeks to onother country. I worked during holidays last year - 2 monthes in telemarkieting, it was terrible, exhausting or not well-paid. I think, that projects like The Work & Travel are great ideas for people, who want to an adventure, really need money and can stay long time without their family or friends.

  6. Now, I am looking for internship and I hope so that during holiday I will stay at Warsaw and work in some company. However, it wouldn’t be my first working holiday. I am from small village and my parents have a lot strawberry and raspberry fields. Since I remember, I and my brother have helped with picking fruits. But I has never work for someone else and my summer job didn’t involve any payment so may by it wasn’t 100% work. Projects like The Work & Travel seem to be great. They are unrepeatable opportunity to get to know other country and culture without spending a fortune.

  9. I'm not sure what I'm going to do during the upcoming holiday but I'd like to find or start something important for the future rather than just earn money.
I've done some job during the schoolyear instead. I've had some holiday jobs in the past, mainly working in a cafe or being a social worker.
Now regarding The Work & Travel thing- I just agree with the words in the text. It's probably an opportunity to mix earning money whith travelling, though I wouldn't expect to save much money this way :)

  10. I'm not sure what I'm going to do during this summer holiday. I'd like to find interesting internship, but it is hard to get a valuable job. I have never working during summer, because I have always lots of plans for my holidays and I didn't need to work.
In my opinion, such projects as "travel & work" are really good opportunity to gain some money and also see some worth-seeing places. What is more important,we can gain experience, which is important for our future employers

I have never worked before but it is good option for me because I need a lot of money to live in Warsaw during studying. 12. In July I am going to do a traineeship in ITME for three weeks. I hope I will learn many useful things that will help me in my future job. Although the company does not pay money for it, thanks to the European Union I can get a scholarship after finishing it. I will work there with my friends so I will have emotional support if something goes wrong (but I hope everything will be fine). I am looking forward to crush course in Japanese which I am going to take in July too. It is level B1, we will do a year of language course in one month! The meetings are six times a week, each 4 hours long. I signed up for it with some people from previous term's course so I believe we will have a great time together. As July is going to be very intensive and gruelling I haven't made any plans for August yet. I think that I will go on the seaside with my family and for a trip in the mountains with my friends. I do not make any plans for September too because I don't want to be disappointed if I happen to fail an exam and I have to change them.

I have worked during summer holidays only once. It was last year, my friend couldn't come to work for 2 or three weeks and I took her place for that time. I worked in bookstore, they needed help because during summer holidays they have more customers as people buy textbooks for their children. I liked the experience very much, if I had more time these holidays I would like to work in bookstore again.

I like the idea of projects like The Work & Travel. Unfortunately, most of them offer only three months long travels. I would prefer shorter ones because you never know if you pass all exams and have free September.

  13. What are you going to do during holiday?
First of all I try to relax after the exam session, then I plan starting a apprenticeships connected with my field of study. Maybe, in August I could start some part time job to earn some money for September trip before the start of new year at university.
Have you ever worked during holiday? What was the job?
Yes two or free times I've worked during the holidays but these job was connected with my brother and father firm, so mainly I've worked in the office to help with make paper order and some office works.
What do you think about projects like The Work & Travel?
Yes, I think this could be an intersting way of spend time and earn money during holidays, because we can connect useful thing with pleasure.

  14. I am going to work during this holiday. For me it is important to spent summer vacations in the way that make sense and not just waste time. Last year I worked as a volunteer in the orphanage in Mexico and that was a really important experience for me. I think that we can use our free time to help others or just to earn some money and it's better than just watching TV series for three months. I find projects like Work&Travel fantastic. You can work in the other country, learn a lenguage and later explore it. It's really cool.

  15. Holidays is the only period of time during the whole year when I can have a rest. I work hard all the time, because I'm not only a student, so I really need to calm down a bit. And it's the last chance to have longer holidays than two weeks after starting full-time job. But general speaking, if you want to earn some money and if you find a satysfing job, then there's nothing wrong in working. And the option is to work and travel. Instead of what I have said before, I dream of going to the United States, so if somebody offered me such proposal, obviously I wouldn't say 'no'.

This year I also want to work on holiday but not in Poland. It will be great adventure. But I don't travel with program travel & work. It' s good idea but not for me I want to do wat I want. I also wane to finde a job by myself.

  18. I think that this summer holidays I will depart somwhere to repair the strenght for one more year of studies. But I also think that after return I will start looking for a holiday job. I was working last holidays in skateshop in Paris, and it was really great experience. In my opinion this projects Work&Travel are interesting option and you don't have to choose between going to work and spending nice holidays.

  19. This year I will go abroad, I have always wanted to visit Spain but I am scared of lack of language knowledge in this country. I heard about Work & Travel program and it is interesting solution for people who wanted to earn money and travel at the same time but for me better option would be Au Pair - babysitting and living with the family abroad because when I was in high school I used to be a babysitter for a couple of months.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
