Different Types of Schooling

Different Types of Schooling Good education starts with the type of schooling the child is exposed to and its quality . Also taken into account is the preference of the child's parents. Different parents look for different things in their child's education: some want socialization while others are looking for small class size.  Following is a brief description of the different types of schools on today's educational landscape. Public Schools Public schools get their financing from local, state and federal government funds.   They also  were started to ensure equal educational opportunity.  There is much criticism about the public school system - it's poor quality, low teacher standards, etc. But it should be noted that without public education many children would have no chances to education at all.  Private Schools Private schools have long been associated with better quality education . These schools select from a pool of students who apply for

Alternative and fun ways to learn new languages.

We all know that the benefits of learning new languages are great. The ability to speak a foreign language opens up a whole new world for us as we can get to know different cultures and different people, travel, study, work and live in different countries.  Learning a second language also has lots of cognitive benefits. It can increase brain power and concentration, reduce cognitive biases and even delay Alzheimer’s. Above all, learning a second language makes it easier to learn a third, fourth or fifth language.  The benefits are clear but for many of us the problem is not to think about learning a new language but having almost no idea how to do it.  There are many methods of language learning other than traditional classes where you are taught by a teacher. Here are some of them which I think are the most fun, unusual and possibly effective:   1. WATCH MOVIES.  You can start by watching a movie in your target language with subtitles in a langua

Boring Winter Olympic Games

Winter Olympic Games will start in few months for the twenty-second time. In this edition in Sochi, Russia. We will see about 65 teams, each from another country and more than 2500 athletes will be participating in 98 events in 15 sports. The biggest hit will be speed skating (12), cross-country skiing (12) and biathlon (11). It's a huge winter sports event. But why? Why something there could be a hit? Half of this disciplines are popular only in few countries. For example curling (we'll be able to watch it whole Olympic Games) is really popular only in Canada, Scandinavia and eastern Europe. The same with bobsleigh, luge or skeleton. And this is almost 1/3 of all olympic games.  Take a look at this and tell me if you can take it really seriously and be excited about this.                                      Funny fact. Shure, every sportsman is aware of fair play rules but in curling world, when the participants are too happy after winning a game it's a faux pas.

Extreme Sports

These are sports , which practicing is associated with a higher risk than in other disciplines. Typically require extraordinary physical or mental ability , and adequate preparation . This kind of sport you can divide on two types: - extreme sports- considered to be sports , in which the practice requires extraordinary skill, courage and action in conditions of high-risk , often life-threatening e.g. bungee jump, motocross, mountain biking etc. - high risk sports e.g. ski jumping, snowboarding, martial arts, surfing, rafting etc. If it’s so dangerous why people practice these kinds of sports? Well, some people just need adrenaline. Sport deprived of adrenaline can be boring for them, they need something exciting which will make their heart beat faster and faster. Also practicing this kind of sport can make them famous. Also extreme sports offer an opportunity to challenge and express yourself . Playing football with friends isn’t achievement comparing to m
