How it all began
Richard Branson was born on July 18, 1950 in London. In
spite of dyslexia, at the age of 16 he created his own magazine «Student».
The magazine gradually turned into the post trade in music
cassettes –
Virgin Mail Order Records, which in turn led to the opening of music stores.
Shortly Branson launched a record label Virgin Records.
In 1983 new companies have appeared such as Virgin Vision
(film production), Virgin Developments (retail) and Virgin Games (computer games).
In addition, Virgin purchased a night club Venue
What makes him an extraordinary person?
As the corporation grew, more diverse and expensive Richard’s
entertainments became. Since 1985, he made several attempts to break the world speed
records. He received a Blue Ribbon for the fastest crossing of the Pacific Ocean on his own ship Virgin Atlantic
Challenger II. In January of 1991 Branson broke the world record and crossed
the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Arctic Canada (10,800 km) on a hot air balloon
at a speed of 392 km an hour.

Richard Branson seems to be a really orginal person. I don't understand his ideas, but they are very creative. If you are so rich, you can do almost all what you want. It means different stupid things, activities impossible in theory/very expensive or realizing your dreams from childhood. Scandalous behaviour will be always on the top for media, so there is no surprise, that he became so extraordinary person for the world.

ReplyDeleteFrankly speaking, I am not interested in celebrities' lives. Maybe this is the reason why it's the first time I have ever heard about Richard Branson. I wouldn't say that he is very orginal - nowadays, scandals and extraordinary leisure activities are the way to show off and remind the world about you - it's part of business. It's nice that he worked for his success unlike with many celebrities who got money from their parents or are known just for being famous. As he doesn't hurt anybody with his actions and he earned his money I don't mind what he does - he has a chance to make his dreams true and he just seizes an opportunity.

I heard about Richard Branson, but I am surpirsed how weird he is. Unfortunately, I think that it is widely acceptable because of his wealth. When a random man acts like that, everyone thinks that he is pathetic, not crazy. However, I admire him for his creativity and determination. And I like that he is unbreakable. When he was creating Virgin Records he didn't have anything. And he was failing like everybody. But it didn't stop him. In my opinion he had just a great idea how to earn big money so he did it and now he can do "what he wants". I think it's natural in our community. ReplyDeleteRichard Branson in my opinion is great, crazy, sometimes suggestive but still he is himself. he is fullfilling his crazy dreams, because he's really rich. but i was reading some time ago article where was told that in the airport in normal queue with other passangers, who were suprised. he beats the record and he is having fun! i was reading that when he was young he decided to sell the parrots, christmas trees, and it shows how enterprising he is.

Our life is devoid of colors and humor, day after day we are doing the same things, wear the same clothes and meet the same people. In my opinion Mr. Richard Branson is fighting with routine – he is trying to do something crazy and at the same time attach peoples’ attention to himself. I don't believe in biographies of richest people, these pathetic "american dream" kind of stories, they are all nothing but lies. I remember how 2 years ago I had total lack of motivation. So I was looking for some motivation books to inspire and found a book The Virgin Way by Richard Branson. It really helped me to believe that a man is able to cope with everything. It's really enough just to say "yes" for some new opportunity and to learn how to do it later. I really admire such people. ReplyDeleteI looked him up on the Internet, and I found a lof of more important thing than in this article. For example he became a founding sponsor of organisation which helps find missin children. Also he regulary donates money for various charity organisation. Those are facts from his life, which should be talked about – not upsiding down Donald Trump’s wife. And my dream – I always wanted to write a book. Now, I’m preparing to do it!

And which childhood dream would I realize? Hmm I think that round-the-world trip,I want to know new cultures, see as much as is possible, because life is not infinite.
ReplyDeleteI’ve just googled the graphics of Richard Branson. He really looks like a man who knows how to be happy. In most of them he’s laughing or smiling. He seems to have got a unique gift of endearing people. I wonder if his personal live is as brilliant as his social live, if he can be good husband and father…
ReplyDeleteMy childhood dreams wasn’t so extraordinary. I used to love playing with baby dolls… I’m a mother of three wonderful kids… I love to spend time with them… and I sometimes think about having another one but I lately try to realize quite different dream from my teenager times – I study psychology.
I'm not quite sure if I would like to meet him face to face... He seems to be... original? But even if he's a bit eccentric if he's happy, rich and also honest - let him live his own life.
ReplyDeleteTo be frank, it is the first time I have ever heard about Richard Branson in spite of the fact that he is so unique businessman. What makes him extraordinary person is really interesting. Nobody is able to behave so scandalously and wear wedding dress for instance. Nevertheless, some people can claim that his behaviour is weird and stupid. No matter how stupid is what he is doing, the most crucial is that it is effective because he is incredibly popular. Being orginal provided him popularity.

I can say that he has his own attitude to business. He is famous for his unusual behavior. To my mind hi simply does not afraid of being unusual. He is not only famous for his unusual behavior but also I can say that his attitude to business is rather perfect. In today’s world it is important to create a special attitude to business and Richard Branson copes perfectly with this task. A proof of his right attitude to business is his success in business. I think that his behavior is also a part of business. It is easy to make people know about his company by such unusual behavior. People have different opinion about his behavior. I think that many people like him and know his company because of his unusual behavior.

I think that crazy people like Richard Branson or Elon Musk have the best chance of success in such crazy projects as exploring the space. Thanks to them we as a society achieve things which nobody had dreamed of only a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI like about Branson that he is creative and open-minded, he's looking for new solutions and uses every contact and opportunity to come up with something new. I think it's very inspiring that he doesn't satisfy with the rule of focusing on one thing, instead, he is willing to face new challenges each time. He is also not afraid to express himself. I think that people who say it's because he has a lot of money should look at what he did since he was a teenager... Money definitely can help to make more of your "childhood dreams" come true, but even Branson hasn't started with a lot of it. I think what you need is a goal, a plan, faith, hard work and then anything is possible.
ReplyDeleteRichard Branson is a unique person. I saw some motivating videos with him. He does not say something extraordinary. He says some obvious things like “do not give up” and so on, but there is piece of truth in it. Great things must not be very complicated. He says, “Keep it simple, stupid” and I think it is one of the most geniuses things I’ve ever heard.
ReplyDeleteRichard Branson is an interesting eccentric, with an obvious head for business. Funny enough though, I haven't heard of him until recently. I've seen some of his motivational videos and while he does say rather basic tips, it's actually not like there's a secret formula of some sorts. I guess one really just has to dare and follow these rules, if he wants to have at least a shot at success.

Because, I personally think that nowadays to be yourself in authentic way which for me means happiness, we have to be brave. Not only, we need also little of luck. Proof of his courage and “life luck” is his magazine which turned into post trade in music cassettes, which we created at the age of 16 in spite of dyslexia. I think he is original because of his authenticity, what I appreciate in others. I think he is really creative and deserves respect for his achievements.

I think it isn’t something bad (of course if it don’t hurt anybody). But nowadays being original and surprisingly is good way for people, who want to be famous and succeed.
ReplyDeleteRichard Branson is an evidence for thesis that you need talent to be a huge businessman. This post shows that he is absolutely unique person and it was his personality, what led him to the place where he is now. It is remarkable that he achieved that much but he is still looking for new opportunities to develop his brand and, what is more important, also himself. After all these years he still gets inspired by his surrounding. He never stops and he always want something more, in my opinion this is the reason why he achieved such a success.
ReplyDeleteFor me Richard Branson is example of person who broke the limits of his own mind. Despite the dyslexia he had provided his own magazine and finally started great telecommunication company - Virgin Mobile. I admire his sense of humor. He has to be a serious entrepreneur but still he smiles and remebers about joking. Of coruse his comic quality might be controvensial and proves stupidity and arogance no the courage but it's good to know that not everyone is buttoned-up.

ReplyDeleteI have never heard about Richard Branson but of course I recognize the trademark of Virgin enterprises. In his biography we can notice that since he was a teenager he had a dream. More precisely - he had a lot of DREAMS. And fortunately for him they come true. Of course, everybody should learn how to live from his example but for me it is a fairy tale. I know that all the facts about him are true but in my opinion better option for me is my previos usual life.

For me, even if he is original and a little bit strange, more important is his approach to business and workers.
ReplyDeleteI feel like nowadays Elon Musk becomes the new Richard Branson in the business world, they both seem to be a bit off, even insane, one might say, and they make me believe that this little(or bigger) bit of insanity is what makes them driven enough to succeed. When I was little my dreams often concerned quite traditional proffessions like ballerina, violinist, fashion designer or an architect, I've never dreamt of being a visionary. I feel like nowadays the one that is the closest to my heart is being an architect, which is connected to my field of studies, and I often think of doing an arhitecture or interior design course in uni next, nothing crazy really.

He is fulfilling his dreams and it seems like nothing can stop him. It is great that he can combine being a successful businessman with being kinda crazy and fun.

ReplyDeleteI had never seen approach like that before and it was a little bit surprising for me. I think most of us imagine businessmen as men wearing suits, ties and looking officially and Richard Branson breaks these rules. He proves business dresscode is just an artificial thing connected with appearance but it doesn't have that big impact on your success. You can also feel free not to be so serious. You can act as you want and still achieve pretty much. That's fantastic to know it.

Each of us must realize our dreams in such a way that our activity is a great pleasure and game in a sense. After all, playing is always more interesting. All these thoughts that we need to be serious about one or the other. Of course you need, but still everyone goes overboard with this concept. Since he has achieved such success, it means he took this very seriously.

Some of people can think that he was crazy but also some of them can think that he was simply himself. He didn’t care about peoples’ opinion. Mayhbe that’s why he became on of the richest person in the world.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard about this guy. It seems that he is a really extraordinary person. I am kinda impressed by his actions, especially his first achievement - maybe not the biggest one, but I think that one of the hardest - creating his own magazine. The first step is always though, especially running your own magazine while having dyslexia and being so young.
ReplyDeleteI really respect this guy's informal approach to everything, and because of that I wish him all the best. He's really extravagant and looks like he's having fun with what he's doing. A lot of people probably find him weird and childishly carefree, however I find his approach original and clever and I think that such characteristics determine the success in business.
