Let's talk about celebrities

Nowadays, popularity and fame can evolve in various ways. It's quiet easy to become famous. You can be known because of the job you have, your activity or your talents. There are also some people who are famous just from being famous. Being popular, just like everything else, has some pros and some cons, it can also lead to more or less serious consequences. As we all know, there are many different ways of being popular. I'd like to talk about celebrities. There are so many ways to catch a spot light these days. Youtube, TV programs which invite  "normal", average people or apps like Twitter and Instagram. Anyone can be seen. That's why celebrities are all over the social media . We can see them on TV,  apps,  posters, ads etc. The most characteristic feature that they all have in common is being famous, catching media's attention (for example tabloids). Some traditions, rituals and superstitions of St Andrew’s, Oxford and Cambridge Univerities

1. ACADEMIC DRESS Sub fusc Sub fusc is compulsory dress worn both in Oxford and Cambridge. It is required during exams, matriculation ceremonies, formal hall or other official events. Students also must wear the appropriate academic gown and mortar bord (which can be removed during examination or being inside the University) or soft cap. Elements of sub fucs vary a bit and depend on degree you are taking (commoners gown – BA, BFA, Bth; scholars gown – master’s deegres; graduate gown – e.g. Msc or Mphil ) and your gender. Sub fusc for woman usually consist of black or dark skirt, clack tights or stockings, black tie and white shirt. Men are supposed to wear black suit with plain white shirt and white or black bow tie. During exams students wear carnation attached to their gown. The color of carnations depens from what examin you are taking. Talent-shows in Poland

Who like talent-shows? For a lot of people watching it is favourite way of spending free time. I really like it, especially music talent-shows. In this post I want to describe aim, rules and the most participants and winners. 1. VOICE OF POLAND  Polish version of the "The Voice" series. Program emitted by TVP2 since 2011. The aim of this show is find vocal talents. Main award is contract with record label - Universal Music Poland and title "The Voice of  Poland". Stages and rules: Producers auditions - this stage are not shown on TV. Producers choose 100 participants to take part in the next stage - blind auditions. Blind auditions -  this is first televisioned stage. Singer performed but coaches didn't see person on stage. They have their backs to the singer and press the buttom if they like what they hear. 3 examples of ecological catastrophes caused by human error.

1.        Extinction of life on Easter Island. For many years, a lot of scientists debated on the history of Easter Island. Because of its location, for centuries it remained completely cut off from outside world. Recent research show that in it’s best years it served home for more that 15,000 people. But when Netherlands sailors discovered its existence on Easter Sunday in 1722, they were stunned by small, dying population of approximately 1,000 inhabitants. At that time they were desperately fighting for survive on completely deforested island which could not provide food anymore, which finally resulted in huge rate of cannibalism among people living there. But why did it happen? The theory stated by Jared Diamond – American evolutionary biologist, shows that it is very probable that Easter Island inhabitants are fully responsible for their own extermination, which was caused by excessive use of wood. Such a trip entails the need to take more luggage, and there is a question  - whether to go to the airport comfortable with your own car and leave it in the parking lot, or use the public transport and do not worry about additional parking costs?
