SHAM MARRIAGE

A sham marriage or fake marriage is a marriage of convenience entered into with the intent of deceiving public officials or society about its purpose. Arranging or entering into such a marriage to deceive public officials is itself a separate violation of the law of some countries.

ARRANGED MARRIAGE

In an arranged marriage, the bride and groom are selected by a third party.   Arranged marriages are usually seen in Indian, Southeast Asian and African cultures, especially among royalty, and are usually set up by the parents or an older family member. In many communities, priests or religious leaders as well as relatives or family friends play a major role in matchmaking. Mains rasons of arranged marriages are: religion, caste, reputation or horoscope.

                                            GETTING HITCHED FOR BENEFITS

In the Marine Corps many soldiers decide to marry for the sake of additional income and benefits. Those soliders who engage in these agreements are entitled to additional monies. Once they provide a valid marriage license, they’re eligible for the Basic Allowance for Housing, a monthly sum that is added to their salaries. Depending on the cost of living, the sum is between $1,100 up to $2,000 per. You can get as well around $350 per month for food, as married individuals aren’t expected to eat in the mess halls. Plus, an additional $250 per month was afforded for a hardship cost the couple were eligible for. While some Marines are caught trying to play the system, others go undetected, opening them up to unfettered access to a massive benefits package that is meant for individuals who enter into legitimate marriages.

VISA PURPOSE
A lot of sham marriages are arranged to allow people to stay in the country legally and that is the major reason people try to arrange these and why people are willing to act illegally to do so.
Ms Liu and Mr Xu used their permanent residency to obtain Australian citizenship and build a property empire worth $40 million by the mid-1990s. Ms Liu obtained permanent Australian residency after she and her then Chinese boyfriend and business partner, Harry Xu, married two young Australians in a bogus arrangement.

In Unitated Statetes a lot of people get married to get a Green Card. 24-year-old Yuliya Kalinina turned to the Internet in The Russian national living in Los Angeles wrote in an ad placed on the Craigslist website: "Green Card Marriage -- Will pay $300/month. Total $15,000," "This is strictly platonic business offer, sex not involved. Just in case any would-be Romeos weren't taking the hint, she added, "NOT required to live together." She made it absolutely clear what she was looking for in a relationship.
If someone gets caught on fake marriage, the defendants face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the Conspiracy charge. Up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each of the marriage fraud and false statement counts, and up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the False Application count.

MARRIED JUST FOR MONEY AND ATTENTION

Kim Kardashian married NBA star Kris Humphries and got divorced just 72 days after marrying. The 31-year-old reality TV star said she "had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned." But many media outlets it was a scam for money.
The four-hour TV special that aired on E! and the rights to wedding photos earned the pair $18 million, which works out to about $250,000 per day of marriage.

A HOLLYWOOD MARRIAGE

Hollywood marriage originally meant a glamorous high society marriage between celebrities involved in the U.S. film industry; the word "Hollywood" is often used to represent the US film industry. However, the term has grown to also have strong negative connotations of a marriage that is of short duration and quickly ends in separation or divorceThe term developed the negative connotations fairly early; by the 1930s, a "Hollywood marriage" was a marriage both glamorous and short-lived. This connotation may also have related, at times, to moral panics over Hollywood's influence on the culture.
Famous hollywod marriages:
Britney Spears and Jason Allen Alexander: Marriage annulled 56 hours after marrying
Sinéad O'Connor and Barry Herridge: Married for 16 days.
Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley: Married for less than four months

A LEVANDER MARRIAGE

lavender marriage is a type of male-female marriage of convenience in which the couple are not both heterosexual and conceal the homosexual or bisexual orientation of one or both spouses. In gay slang, the spouse whose presence conceals the other's sexual orientation is referred to as a "beard". enter into marriages of convenience to protect their public reputations and preserve their careers.  For e.g. Actor Rock Hudson, who, under movie studio pressure and worried about rumors that Confidential magazine was planning to expose his homosexuality, married Phyllis Gates, a young woman who worked for Hudson's agent.

Would you get married to someone you didn't intend to stay with? Would you decide to sham marriage if you could earn a quarter of a million dollars per day? Do you know any other examples of fake marriages?

  1. Sometimes it comes to my mind such thoughts: Why am I studying so hard when I could be a someone's wife who is really rich? Probably it would be a really old man therefore there are only my thoughts in my mind. I never say this loudly. :) For sure in other parts of the this world there are ladies who think in such way. The only way to do this is making a sham marriage with rich man. They are going to count a big drop after a few years of marriage. I know a lot of such situations from tv, internet. But different reason of making a sham marriage may be getting a nationality.

  2. Temporary marriage with anybody is definitely bad idea for me. I can understand individual tragedy and bad relationship after few years between two people. Perhaps sometimes divorce is only way. Different story is when somebody decide to get married without sufficient knowledge and confidence in the future spouse. This is the same how to plan a divorce at very beginning in case if something will break in the future.
“Would you decide to sham marriage if you could earn a quarter of a million dollars per day.”
I think that it is a good question for barriers in ours life. If I agree I will move my independence barrier closer to trade me and my privacy. For me it is like prostitution, even if sex is not part of it.
I remember when this whole thing was valid for the Poles who desperately traveled to the USA, Germany or UK. I was a kid but I did not forget my parents comments about other people, sometimes Our former neighbors, who in the early 90's went abroad to earn money. Sometimes they also tried to legalize their stay by a fake marriage, sometimes to do that they need to perform a fake divorce first in Poland. For me always when you can’t live as you want is tragedy. It start when adult children must live in home with parents and continue when you explain all your life decisions that you have to do something, you do not want to, but still do it because it is easier.

  3. Temporary marriage or mariage with person who I don't know-it isn't for me. I don't heard about that situations in reality, only in a films. However, it is true that in for example in India your parents chose a previous housband for you. But this is associated with tradition. I don't understand people who have a mariage for a document to have a documents to live for example in another country. Tou are belongig to this person in legally ant it makes me frightening.

  4. Nowadays, marriage for money and attention isn't something new. However it still suprises many people. They don't understand how someone can married other person without love and attachment. Generally it is among celebrities, but not only. A few years ago Visa was the purpose. We heard a lot about using someone else to get Visa. It was the only reason to get married. People look for benefits. They don't think that their lack of selflessness is something bad.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think sham marriage isn't something new. Moreover I can say that in middleage there was much more marriage arranging because of reputiation and money. Now we have more possibilitys to get benefits. I can understand this kind of motivation, but I don't approve it. Also it is hard to control people who get marriage to get a visa. In my opinion people should do this for love.

    ReplyDelete
  6. In case of visa or citizenship the sham marriage is sometimes the only way to get better live, sad but true. But in case of marriage for many is for me is reason for shame, but it’s old like word tradition for someone. This case of “fun” is totally not for me.

  7. A lot of people get married without love. It is caused of course money. I heard in TV couple years ago about weddings between foreigners. One person pay another to marry and get citizenship another country. Probably that dealings continues to this day. In world of celebrities are many weddings not out of love but for publicity. Many people get married because they have a children even if they don’t love each other.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I do know about such issues, but after the start I was hoping fore something more about current state of arranged marige. I will only point out that USA is making it almost imposible to get visa by legal matters. The only person I know that got his visa under eight months got it probably only because he passed all the tests and got offer for a full time job at the Google and they got it for him themselves. If someone can actually make a full out of USA immigration departnment, I will neither judge nor condemn him/her for what they did.
Other cases that were pointed out don't interest me in even most slightest way, therefore I have nothing to say about them.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think a sham marriage is always a mistake. For me, a marriage should be thought as a demonstration of love, not as a medium to obtain benefits. I even think marriage is not absolutely necessary, I think I could live with my couple for long time (even all life) without marry him.
I can't understand people who marry for money, or parents who force their children to marry with someone, but I can understand sham marriages made for obtain a visa, but I think I wouldn't do it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I can't imagine that I could ever get sham married to someone who I don't love, and with whom I don't want to live. Marriage is taken in the presence of family and witnesses, before God. I'd feel bad about lying to God and others. I admire people who ever got married without love, the will of the parents, for profit. I think that even if someone wanted me to pay for a fictitious marriage, there I wouldn't agree. I don't know any examples of fake marriages.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think that no one is surprise -the sham marriage isn’t something unfamiliar. There are many people who are prone to such marriages, but the other hand a lot of people can’t understand how someone can married other person without love. For me, the main reason why people do such think is money, fame, or as in the case of a visa opportunity to live in another better country .Personally I wish to marry a man I love, and I’m against sham marriage. But, it is only personal decision.

    ReplyDelete
  12. As far as I know sham marriages were popular in medieval, especially in royal families. I personally would never agree to such marriage, I prefer to achieve things I want in legal way.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Would I decide to sham marriage if I could earn a quarter of a million dollars per day? Of course I would! I think that there is nothing wrong in such marriages. If both sides are aware of what they are doing it, why not? I also think that there is nothing wrong in marrying for a visa, but as I said, it is important that both of them were aware of this fact.
However if someone is marrying somebody for visa or for money by cheting this person this is just a fraud.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I my opinion arranged marriages when one or both sides are forced get married it’s sick. It should be forbidden. Marriage is not just a simple relationship. It’s sharing almost every part of life with second person. If people just do not fit with each other it can be hell for both of them. Often like in Saudi Arabia one person is on the worst side. In countries like this women cannot decide of themselves. When they want to leave the country they need permission from husband or sometimes their son.
When it comes to marriages out of convince some part of me understands it. If you cannot have love then maybe you can grow to respect someone and learn to live with him without passionate love?

  15. Definietly I would not get married to someone I didn't intend to stay with. I wouldn't decide to sham marriage to get a quarter of a million dollars per day. I know I wouldn't feel allright with that and wouldn't be pround of it. I would be proud of earning money like that on my own ;].
I don't know anyone personal, who decided to get fake married. To me it is like from celebrity world.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Would you get married to someone you didn't intend to stay with?
    - Yes, marriage thing doesn't mean a lot for me. Nowadays you can get married and next day you can get divorced.
Would you decide to sham marriage if you could earn a quarter of a million dollars per day?
    - Who wouldn't? You can always get divorced.
Do you know any other examples of fake marriages?
    - Nope. No ideas.

  17. I think a civil marriage is only a declaration and sheet of paper. I think when a half of couple feel love to second half and the same in another direction, there is a reason to get real marrige in church not only in office. I can't imagine situation whwrw I'm in a marriage with someone who I don't love, so my answer to one of some question is obvious. The idea with Green Card is something what I will do for someone but she would comply.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Connecting traditionally arranged marriage with marriages for benefits is little abuse for me. Arranged marriage were common quite lately. And in other situations? That's their life, these people can do, what they want. If their situation is bad, sometimes only marriage can change it. I would't do that, but I understand people needed to get visa or to get to another country. Marriages for benefits? People are stupid and greedy. And that is not the worst example.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would never marriage someone only of the caluculating. It is sick for me to abuse it instrumentally. And it is all I want to say in this topic.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The sham marriage issue is very popular among immigrants. For examply many people from somewhat poorer countries want to stay in Poland or European Union and use of this way. It's very crafty, but in my opinion also immoral. Especially in situation when the most reason of sham marriage are money. I hope that will never have a similar dilemma.

    ReplyDelete
  21. In economy we have a lot of ex ample of shame marriage, is a good way to make a easy many and to do a business. For small group of people love it isn’t a reason to marriage, we have a lot of example from a history. Immigrants from poor countries organize that marriage because they want be a citizen of riches country. I understand that trend, it is better for their future live.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The idea of sham marriages is as old as the world itself. Many people ,especially in the past, were getting married for some purposes not connected with love or even some pleasant emotions, but for money, family issues/connections, to maintain power and so on. In most cases the bride and the groom do not know each other well and it was a decision made beyond them. Of course it is nothing to approve, but what is sad, in many countries (Arabic e.g.) it is still in practice and people freedom is abused greatly. I hope changes in this matter will arise abruptly.

  23. I wouldn't get married to someone, with whom I wouldn’t want to live for all of my life. Honestly, I think that it's more probable that I would be a single than I would have a relationship with a man who is not the right person for me.
I also don't want to get married to someone for money.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, as for me marriage is formalizing love between man and woman, so marriage without love is completly unreasonable. Money and other benefits can't make your decision. If you marry someone - you have to know that's the person, not the money or fame. In my opinion marrying someone because of any other thing than love is just lying to someone and to yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  25. A sham marriage shows how little mean words : love, trust, support.Which is the basis of true marriage.
In modern times more and more population becomes a model of marriages that will bring material benefits or social.

Unfortunately we still have marry in many laws are prohibited, but in Islamic cultures is "daily bread" is a relationship adult male with underage girls.
Personally for me it is not accepted, because children need time to grow emotionally.

  26. I've never would get married to someone I didn't intend to stay. Even if i could earn a quarter of a million dollars per day. I'm loyal to my fiancée and so much money can't break me.

  27. I think I could not Get married with someone who I don`t know and I don`t love. It`s really terrify for me! Even if I could earn a lots of money because of it, I won`t decide do this. It`s very unfair and not responsible. Unfortunately I know some examples of fake mistakes – I must say that these histories didn`t end well.

  28. I could marry someone for money or to help him, because I don't attach to the institution of marriage. One thing that scary me is the possibility of jail and fine.
I think that government should not interfere into someones private life.
It's our business who are we getting married.
The most important thing for me is: who I'm living with and who is beside me. Marriage is not important for me.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I believe I would never get married to someone I do not love or do not know at all. Be someone's wife only for financial benefits? I am not materialist. It's obvious, money improve our lives, but it does not always bring happiness. I can only imagine this situation - marriage for money - in case that members of my close famiy would be really sick and need some very expensive surgeries. But generally speaking, I would raher have a beautiful relationship with a man who loves me, with whom I wanna spend my life.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I couldn't get married to someone, who I don't love, even if there would be many benefits. It's my morality and there is anything, which could change my decision. True feelings are more worth for me than money. I want to be happy in my life, not rich. Happiness means for me good relationship, family, health, friends...They are on the first place, so I could really enjoy money later. Spending them can give us a pleasure, but we usually also want to share our joy with others. A marriage is too serious life decision to waste it, therefore we shouldn't think only about benefits. I don't know any example of a fake marriage or I don't remember now. However I think there are many of them in some arabic countries, where is Islam.

  31. I think that it is embarrassing to get married to someone for money. It is too big decision. If we get marrind to someone who we do not love,we will be unhappy sooner or later. Good relationship should be much important, because it bring us happiness and that comfort that we have support from someone

  34. I would never get married someone only for money. I wouldn’t want to live for all of my life with the person who I don't love. I prefer be a single than I would have a relationship with a man who is not appropriate person for me. I think that if you want to be happy in the future you have to be with somebody who you love. People who marry someone only for money are probably overwhelming or unprincipled.

  35. I'd rather never marry to someone I don't intend to stay and live with. The only reason why I could to it would be a war, and only if that would be the only way to save life.
No, I prefer other, more legal and having more sense solutions.
In Islam it's allowed to get married for a day, a week or another determined period of time, the marriage is allowed even if the guy has a wife already. For woman it's needed f.e. when she wants to go to Mecca but has no male attendant. Then she gets married for the time of pilgrimage.

  36. It is extremely sad that people get married for money or fame. But on the other hand those old rich men are probably happy that they can spend their time with young beautiful ladies and the do not care that they have to pay for it. Acually, I think that we should not judge anyone. When someone does not have money to take care of his children, marriage for visa and getting additional money seems to be a good idea. For sure, I am not a really big fan of marriage even when it is real.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Honestly, I have never considered about getting married for money or some kind of shame or fake marriage because for me the main reason to get married is love. I wouldn't get married someone who I don't love. I can't imagine such situation. Personally, I don't know the person who get married for the money, but of course I realize that such things are happening not only in the movies. Unfortunately! It is very sad that people get married because of the material benefits not feelings.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm not strict traditionalist but I'm afraid that I will never understand the idea of marriages for material benefits. I also couldn't imagine myself in a situation, when someone arranges my marriage. It should be everyone's own choice with who we want to spend our life. I can only understand people, who get married in order to get visa, because it's sometimes the only way of normal life for them.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well it's hard question if we would marry someone only for money. Atm everyone will say "no" because "we are so proud". 42. I can't imagine that I could be with someone without any feelings.. Of course, I will never know what might become in the future. But I think I don't understand the idea like this, because it inconsistent with my beliefs. This is so controversial topic in mamy ways.
Now, I don't think that I would agree at something like this.
Unfortunately, I do not know of any other examples. At least, nothing comes to my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I do not understand the idea of sham marriage. For me marriage is something for life. I wouldn't like to marry a man who I don't know and feel nothing for. However, I would agree for sham marriage if my life or life of my family memeber was in danger and that was the only way to protect it (I can't think of any plausible situation like this now, but it may happen for example on the war).

I do not care much about what celebrities do, if they have no self-respect and sell their private life then why should I bother? Usually, their actions have no influence on average person's life. The real problem are sham marriages arranged to get citizenship. They irritate me not because such people get money and other things that they don't deserve. The real reason I hate the idea of this kind of marriage is the fact that such people make it far more difficult to get marry for people who really want to be together - because of those liars honest intermarriages are under surveillance. It is not fair.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I hope I will never be so desperate that I will have to consider getting married just for money. I imagine that people who decided to do that in most cases are in a very difficult financial situation and that is what pushes them to make that step.
Celebrities marriages which last just a few days or weeks are a very sad phenomena. Of course every one can get lost in life and then make a very bad decision, but the numerous cases marriages of that kind make think that this is a one of these Hollywood "booms" - as boom for having kids or adopting kids. I'm a romantic person and I simply prefer if marriage still is something durable and sacred and not a joke.

  45. Getting married for money is totally immoral. Marriage is something created by a woman and a man who loves each other. It is based on feelings. I really don't understand people who accept it and do it... There are a lot of different ways to get money...

  48. I'm not planning marriage, so I think that I will definitely not marry anyone, esspecially person with who I'm not planning to stay. But earning a lot of money just because you have marriage sound great. But in Poland it is no common, and I won't do it. it's great idea for some other ladies. Sometimes people get marriage to get citizenship, or if somebody is gay, and he is still asking where is your wife it's great idea. I don't know any other fake marriages.

  50. Well.. I can agree with lavender marriage, but this 'parents' mustn't have children. I think child should have mother and father. If he or she has two fathers or two mothers, he or she won't bring up in proper way. Marriage is really important for me, celebrities are stupied if they want to marriage only for money. Arranged marriage isn't in line with my truth and my religion. I think this kind of marriage should be forbidden. Hollywood marriage is the most truly for me :) I want to have sumptuous marriage but not for money :)

  51. I don’t think so that I can get someone I didn't intend to stay with. I am a Catholic and marriage is an important sacrament for me. I have never though that I could change my partner after marriage. On the same time I do not criticize couple which get divorced, sometimes something just doesn’t work in the proper way but getting marriage and thinking that it is only for a moment is a misunderstanding for me. A quarter of a million dollars per day seems to be very nice price but in this world nothing is for free so I don’t want to think about what this kind of deal will include. I have heard about sisters who have to get marriage to inherit big amount of money after their grandfather and they had found some short term husbands.

  52. No I would never marry a person which I haven't love, for any price. Discussing moral matters "for how much" makes people who agree on that some kind of prostitutes.

  54. I can't imagine myself doing that. I believe that marriage is a very important thing and should be done only one with the right person. Making some interests of it is not a good choice. Although different people have different opinions. As for me, I will wait for the perfect person.

Using strong example I must say that for me this type of marriage is similar to prostitution. This is connected with "paid" marriage, but sometimes we can hear about situations when people decided to sham marriages only for acquire citizenship, and situation become complicated, because often these people have no choice and this is only hope for them for a normal life, so i try to understand theirs decision.

  58. I have always thought that marriage is something important, that it is a proof of love and loyalty. What is more, for me it is a promise which people gives each other - a promise that they will spend together the rest of their lifes, that they will always be together...
I've never wondered if sham marriage is a common issue. However, reading your presentation I came to a conclusion that there are a lot of them. It shows that nowadays there is a complete lack of values - people made from the marriage a tool which helps them meeting their needs - a lot of people think only about benefits.

  59. A marriage is said to be a relationship between two people who are in love. It should be well-thought-out decision of your life. I’m convinced that sham marriages have nothing in common when it comes to loyalty and devotion. It’s hard to deny that money is necessary in today’s world. On the other hand, money is not the main source of happiness for most people. They regard personal relationships as more important. Despite everything, there is a great deal of marriages for well-being or visa.

  61. I do not think I will have a choice like that in my life. I am not beautiful enough to marry a billionaire and I also do not need any visas. I would probably not marry someone with whom I did not intend to stay with. I would like to marry person that is handsome and I have feelings for. In my opinion fake marriages are not bad, only if people are not lying to each other. Then I would accept marriage if I could earn money for that.

  62. I can't imagine marring someone not for love but just for some material profits. It's not only egoistic but you sacrifice your happiness and you won't let your partner to be really happy.I can understand that many people have bad situation in their live and that is easy way to change it, but for what cost?I don't think money is worth all the emotions and ofcourse true love that you lose that way. Fortunately I don't know any other examples of fake marriages and I don't wanna know.

  63. I can't imagine to get married to someone I didn't intend to stay with. Money is not important for me because I am brought up traditionally in the Catholic religion, so I believe in true love.
But, unfortunately, more and more people are getting married without love, with financial reasons and also political. I'll always be denounced it because I think it's something really stupid, but sooner or later these people will realize that it was wrong.

  64. To my mind marriage is an artificial institution so I don’t treat it emotionally. But still I can’t imagine getting married just for the benefits because if someone pay you it means he or she wants something back. I don’t know anyone who have fake marriage. I think that it isn’t popular in Poland.

  65. I don't think that arranged marriages are always fake marriages. Maybe in our culture it's really strange, but in some countries arranged marriages are frequent and not so rarely very happy. In many cases family take into the consideration also opinion of future groom and bride. They think of love rather like about a decision, than like about some fleeting emotion.
I would never get married to someone I didn't intend to stay with even if I could earn a quarter of a million dollars per day, and I don't understand people who do that.

  66. I have an idealistic vision of marriage. I think that it is important decision for whole life and people who want to marry should good think it over. In my opinion good marriages are necessary to create good families. People have to be responsible of their decisions.
I never would want to have sham marriage. Marriage is too important worth for me.

  67. If I wanted to marry I would do it only for love, not for money. I can't imagine living with person who I am not emotionally related to. Being married to improper person would be a horror. I know that it is always risk to choose wrong person, but decision like this should be taken for right reasons.

  68. Would I get married to someone I didn't intend to stay with? It sounds really silly to me, why would I do such a horrible thing? Even if I could earn a quarter of a million dollars per day, I would feel just like a prostitute doing that. I don't know any examples of fake marriages, because it's just stupid and irritating issue in which I'm not interested, just like a "real" marriage. I'm young right now and I'm lucky to live in a country where the decision is up to me. And, probably just like the rest of the world, I will never face an opportunity of having a marriage for some billions in cash.

  69. Of course I would marry anyone for that money. I don't believe in love so what could be other reason for me to marry someone if not that. I would really have to hate this person to give up such a opportunity and not get married.

  70. I am not a 'traditional' type of person and marriage isn't such a big deal for me. If I could help someone just by marrying her why not? It's quite a normal thing. Marriage for money? If I would get quarter of million per day I could even marry another dude. Who woudn't take such an easy money? :)

  71. I strongly believe that people should married when they want it, and when they love each other. Unfortunately, there are few countries where people are getting marriage not because of love but because of their parent’s will. Nowadays people also getting married to get the money from the country. I think that it is disgusting. People should not cheat their country like that.

  72. It is really thoughtless to walk down the aisle because of better property, status or fame. These days it is hard to imagine Hollywood stars without some scandals connected with getting married. But this problem increases also among ordinary people. Of course, I wouldn't be able to say "yes" to person who I didn't love. Why? Even if I had a bad situation I wouldn't choose my husband-to-be because of wealth or popularity. Money doesn't give fortune on that way! Of course, the devil's in the detail and you can look for some pros of having lots of money. Widen perspectives, some improvements, lack of misfortune, every dreams can come true. But is it worth it? Somebody who choose money and refuse happiness - which is caused by relationship, feelings and emotions - makes a major mistake in its life.
A temporary marriage isn't a great option. It could bring trauma or even lack of reliance among people. These days it is so popular to get married because of the fake couple needed a Visa. Looking for improvements, benefits and pursuit of "happiness" could only ensnare and doesn't bring fortune.
A sham marriage could be a "good" way to sustain a family. You have to take a responsibility of bringing up a child and personally I know some couples who are together because of a child. It is also unhealthy because they inculcate a spirit of falsehood and show-off false outlook of human relationship.

  73. Getting married just for money? For me it sounds quite pathetic. I can't stand when my friends say "Oh, I need to find a rich housband" ... I believe everyone should be self-supporting to feel secure. Secondly, I can't even imagine how people are able to spend their whole life with someone who they do not love. There is no explaination for that.
Nowadays the sanctity of marriage is no longer excist because of all these cases.
You can call me behind the times but for me marriage is reserved for love:)

  74. Marriage because of interests were the domain of the past and great houses. But the world is still ruled by money. Love is unfortunately not the only one purpose of getting married. I cannot understand that, and I think it is very immoral. The worst option for me is of course marriage just for money. I can understand in some way the point of view these people who did this for visa purpose. I also know the people who get marriage somehow of convience - because they were expecting a child.

  75. "I love you so much so I will get the goverment involved so you can't leave me" if you think about marriage this way it's really creepy... But benefits goverment gives married couples are nice, so maybe it's not creepy at all, but marriage should be reserved only for people who truly love each other, being with someone for other reasons makes those "couples" unhappy.

  76. I think that life can be complicated sometimes and we cannot say anything like “I would never do that” unless we check it in real life. Therefore I will not say: “yes, I would definitely enter into a sham marriage” or “no, I would never marry anyone without true feeling.”

  77. I would never get married to someone I didn’t want to. That is why I think that sham marriage is kind of stupid idea. I wouldn't take a sham marriage just for money. There's always risk that money would be expended. In that case I should divorced immediately. That's the proof the sham marriage is false and doesn't guarantee happiness to the end.

People want to obtain nationalities of any European country, so they want to marry with europeans. Or in any other place in the World people get married for money or for fame. 83. Sham marriage looks like really frequent phenomenon. We all the time hear about new "Hollywood" couples or marriages only for money. But lots of them aren't truly for profits! Nowadays when we see young girl hitched with elder man we think that she want money and he want it because he can have "younger and sexier girl". I really don't like it!
After thinking about this question if I would marry someone only for money my answet is - no. I really can't do this! I'm girl who imagine my life with lovely husband and children. Maybe if I will really fall in love with this man then okay! Because it is love.

  84. Sham marriages are really popular today. I think that the main reason why people do such things is money or opportunity to live in another country as in the case of a visa purpose. I think it’s ok if someone able to live in such way, if someone can live with somebody without love. But for me love is very important, and I hope I will never be in such a situation when I will need to marry someone just because lack of money or to change my nationality. It would be perfect if I marry a man I love.

If I hadn't a boyfriend and I had a chance to marry a man to earn a quarter of a million dollars per day in the future (and he had known that I had wanted do it only for money - I hate lying...), it's possible, that I would agree. :D But I have a boyfriend and I prefer real love than such conspiracies. 88. I don’t think I could marry someone who I’m not in love with. For me marriage is very important part of life. I can understand that some people get married because they need visa. Sometimes they have very hard and abyss situations. For example, they have to escape from their country because of war. It’s not easy to get a visa fast. It’s easier when you are married with a citizen of country. I think a marriage for money is the most stupid and awful thing. It tells me that people care only about money not about other person feelings. I don’t think I know more example of fake marriages, than the ones mentioned in presentation.

  89. Marriage without love? .... It sounds terrible to me. I would not choose sham marriage even if I would make a million dollars a day. I can not imagine getting married for any reason other than feeling for a loved one. As far as I am able to try to understand people deciding to such a relationship because of obtaining citizenship or forced by the family, I can not do the same when they do it for money or fame. The prospect of spending the rest of our lives with a person who means nothing to us is horrible. Though many marriages that have loved each other before are parting today. However, I hope that such situations will be less and less and nobody will suffer because of unrequited love.

I do not want to get married in the future, because I think when you love somebody you do not have to prove it on paper.Morover I can not imagine that I am married with person who I do not love. But when I would be alone all my life and have nothing to lose maybe I would decide to sham marriage if I would earn a quarter of a million dollars per day. There are popular TV shows in which volunteers come to where they get married with a person they do not know completely. They get big gratification for it, and then they divorce. I know some people have to do that - for example because of islamic tradition. For some people is a kind of lifestyle - like for playboy's bunnies. 100. All of the reasons of getting married presented in the text are unfortunately true. I think that people should not do it, becasue they will no be happy. Of course arrenged marriages were common in history, they were done for money, maintaining power or reconciling house.

I would not get married to someone I did not intend to stay with. It just does not make any sense. I think we are getting married because we love someone we want to spent rest of our life with that person and we want to set the family with that person.

I think I would not decide to sham marriage even if I could get that huge amount of money everyday.

I have heard about many examples of fake marriage because of money and visa purposes. But I do not know how these marriages ended.

  101. Honestly I would decide to sham marriage if it was profitable but only when it wouldn't mean living together, it would be just formality, otherwise absolutely not. People are doing it not only for the money but also because people are very intolerant in some cultures, they stick to their own rules and traditions not seeing beyond them that's why, for instance a levander marriage for me is hardly surprising.

  102. In the past arrange marriage was something natural. Even my grandparents’ marriage was arranged by parents. I don’t know if they were happy because my granddad died when I was a little girl and my grandmother didn’t tell too much about her live. I think if a sham marriage for the money or some other reason is an agreement that both sides know and accept the terms before marriage, it can work successfully. Even love can come after some time… But there always will be the risk of finding the ‘real’ other half during the marriage…

Moreover if i will be famous it is a lots of different ways to earn money. Talking about married, which purpose is visa, I don't want to risk paying fine. 105. It's very worrying how little value marriage presents. Nowadays for many it's like tool or maybe sometimes even punishment. Where and when has love disappeared? You can love without marriage - that's true - but it deepens the bonds! Why people forget about it? It only shows how people are more and more shallow in my opinion. Love as well as marriage is today just like a toy. Today it's funny, tommorow it's not so I throw it away? It's easier to sigh while watching romntic films than engage yourself in relationship? This reality really scares me sometimes.

Nevertheless, reality is different at times. Some people decide to do down the aisle in order to get visa and stay in the country legally or for such benefits as money. I definitely can tell that I would not get married to someone I did not intend to stay with. It is my belief that marriage should pair two people forever. That is not to say that I do not understand why some people decide to get sham marriage.

  107. The article is about sham marriage. The author explains some reasons for sham marriage. Sham marriage means fake marriage for some benefits. Especially in the world of celebrities, marriage is a rather loud case. But there are also other benefits explained in the text, such as marriage with visa purpose, marriage for money and attention, Hollywood marriage etc.
In the world of celebrities sham marriage is a good option for making money. To my opinion it can be good option but only if all the purposes are legal. For example, I would not rather take risk by marrying a person for some benefits if it leads to problems with the law.
Earning a quarter of a million dollars per day is a very easy way for making money almost for nothing. It is mainly an option for celebrities but if I would be asked for such option, I think that I would rather agree if it does not lead to different problems with law etc.
To my mind, the most popular reason for sham marriage is getting a visa to different countries, especially to the most developed countries.

I am a Christian so for me there should be one marriage for all live, we should marry person who we love, who we want to spend the rest of our live with etc. On the other hand I totally understand that for unbelievers marriage is not so important and that is also a good occasion to make some money of just make life easier. A huge wedding, gorgeous dress, pictures on the covers of the most exclusive magazines plus quarter of million dollars per day of marriage? Good deal. I wonder why people don’t do it more often.

I think marriage would be taken more seriously if there were no divorce, or at least the process would be more difficult. Maybe than the marriage would be for love and partnership, not for business. And even if you would marry someone for money or other benefits, you will choose someone who you get along with.

  109. To me, the only type of sham marriage that is terrible is the one that is arranged by the family. People who are in such positions really suffer. I'm very much against that, and I really hope there is something that can be done about it. But when it comes to 2 adult people making a rational decision to be together for some kind of profit?
Well, it's definitely not an ideal solution, but I understand that sometimes it can be beneficial. The only way it can be dealt with is by cutting the benefits that come from the marriage and/or making sure that the financial situation of the people is good or that immigration is easier, but these are not always possible. And the truth is that people will always use this system if it can help them to obtain citizenship in some country, escape poverty, violence, war or simply give them the platform to make their dreams come true. Unfortunately, the truth is, sometimes it can be the best option in their situation...

Call me heartless and beat me with a stick, but I believe that we shouldn't care who maries who and for what reason. As long as it was an agreement of both parties, means you both had your reasons to do it. To redeem my pragmatic statement however, I do believe that a wedding organied by third parties as well as marry-and-divorce practice for money, is in fact disgusting, cheap and low.

  114. I believe that marriage is an important institution and it’s landmark in human’s life so they shouldn’t use it as the solution of their problems with money or law. Sham marriages are disrespectful and they only lower the significance of marriage which is in crisis today . I’m a Catholic and my point of view is based on my believes, but I think that you don’t have to be religious person to know that selling yourself isn’t something that you should be proud of. Because getting marriage for fame or money is nothing more than this. But this attitude to marriages isn’t that outrageous as the arranged marriages. These are violation of human rights and it’s disgusting that SO-CALLED parents can force their children to be wife or husband of someone that they don’t love or somethimes don’t even know. There are still some countries where underage girls marry adult men and their family consider this like something completely normal. I am so angry when I hear about this practice and I’m not able to look at it without disgust.

  115. For the first question I have to say no. I would not get marriage with someone I don't want to stay with. I think that it isn't ethical to make fake relationship (in fact without relationship). The istitution of marriage is for me to important to make such a thing. Maybe in some circumstances (I have got one personal example which I'll describe later) I would agree for such a proposition but I do not wonder the situation when I would offer something like this to anyone.

The quarter of million per day sounds great but it is also in my opinion not ethical and I would have a problem to use money which I didn't earn myself.

I can describe the example I mentioned. One of my friends got the proposition from her boyfriend to get merriage in the reason of that it would give him a polish citizenship. He is Ukrainian and If he would not get the polish passport before his ukrainian passport's deadline he would have go to the Ukraine where he would be mobilized for military service and send for the front in Donbas.

Sham marriage is something that can help both sides, I don't know if I would go for it but I don't find it a terrible idea. If somebody is short of money and the other person needs asylum, it may be be helpful as well as profitable for both of them. For me marriage is rather type of official bond and it doesn't tell much about a relationship between people.

  124. Fictitious marriages are common in our lives. Unfortunately, this is considered normal in most cases, because to deceive the state for their own purposes is a good way to circumvent some of them without breaking the law. Maybe these are old customs, but I believe that marriage should be exclusively for love. Mutual and happy.

  125. I feel that arranged marriage is a mistake. No one should force to this kind of things because it is a decision for all life. I hope that we will have much less sham marriage in the future.

  126. From my point of view we can never tell with being 100% sure what would we do in some situations. However, I can't imagine being married to someone that I don't love. Moreover, I don't think that any money would convince me to be in a sham marriage.

  127. I feel like the fact that people in order to live in a certain country have to marry someone without any feelings is quite sad. Marrying someone just to be able to live a decent life sounds like something that shouldn't happen in XXI century. Similarly to arranged marriages, it's really surprising to me that they are still happening nowadays. Being forced to live with someone I don't have any feelings for sounds very depressing.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
