Let's dance!

Wikipedia says that "Dance is a type of art that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music, performed in many different cultures and used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting".

Dance was discovered at the early stage of hominid evolution. Its styles have evolved and now we are dancing completely different that our ancestors were. But one thing doesn’t change – we use dance to express not only themselves but also the traditions and culture.

Flamenco. Is a dance – but also o music – from Andalusia in Spain. It derives from old religious  oriental dances and is connected with three cultures which appeared in Iberian peninsula: Gypsy, Indian and Spanish. There are many types of flamenco, but the main features are emotional intensity, proud carriage, expressive use of the arms and rhythmic stamping of the feet.  It is original that a dancer is dancing alone and doesn’t tell the story – there is only a passion.

Waltz  is a ballroom and folk dance created in XVI century in  Germany. At the beginning it was regarded as controversial and immoral dance, because in the previous time no one dancing in closed position. Because of that it was banned in many countries – for example in the Germany, England. When famous composers: Johann Strauss father and Johan Strauss son started to compose waltz and Martin y Soler wrote his opera La cosa rara with dancing waltz on the scene of the Vienna’s Opera House, it began his big career as a one of the most famous dances it the world.

Tango came from Argentina.  It has influences from European and African culture, but  originated in lower-class districts of Buenos Aires and Montevideo. First forms of this dance appears at the end of XVIII century in the bawdy houses and sub-venues. It was the third (after waltz and polka) closed position’s dance. "Tango is danced in either open embrace, where lead and follow have space between their bodies, or close embrace, where the lead and follow connect either chest-to-chest". Pasodoble also was formed in Spain and Portugal. "By subject  it concerns the struggles bullfighters. The leader of this dance plays the part of the matador, when the follower generally plays the part of the matador's cape. It is very fast, spectacular but also difficult  march-like dance. It based on the music played at the corrida during the bullfighters' entrance (called paseo) or during the passes (called faena) just before the kill."

Despite the fact that many dances haven't accepted, they became popular and now all of the people know them. Many people learning how to dance them without thinking about history. Not many people know that the dance was a way for different social groups to show their emotions, their culture and tradition.

    1. I adore dance! I can dance everywhere and everytime. I never have been in the dance course, but I would like to go to dance school. Now I'll be immodest. My friends tell me that I'm good dancer. Often, I'm invited to weddings as the accompanying person. And my partners didn't complain to this time :) I saw that Grzegorz wrote he don't like dance TV shows. I have the opposite view on this topic. I like to watch Dance with stars :P

  2. First of all, I think that dance is something special. Dance shows our emotions and reflects our soul. I have never learned to dance but one day I will try. I think that dance which I like the most is modern jazz. Because modern jazz is so sensitive and sensual. Of course when I have an opportunity of dancing with my friends I can't resist it.

  3. It is true that a lot of people are learning how to dance but not many of them learn about history of this kind of dance. To be honest, I have never learned to dance and I'm not very good at it. But of course whenever I have a chance and I go out with my friends, I try to dance and learn how to do it. I know that for many people dance is very important in life, it can be a passion and sense of life. I really admire such people.

  5. Let's dance! I love dancing! It is a special feeling when we can forget about all problems and express themselves. In my opinion everyone is able to dance. William Shakespeare in ,,The Winter's Tale" wrote: ,,When you do dance, I wish you
a wave of the sea, that you might ever do nothing but that." It is my motto:)

  6. I can't dance, but I like watching when the professional dancers are moving. My friend is dancing professionally for several years and I was at various dance competitions. It's amazing how the dancers lord it over bodies, express emotions and they tell different stories. Dance in Poland is now very popular, many people learn to dance and I think they also knows a lot about the history of dance, because it's trendy.

  9. It is true that nowadays exist fashion for dance. But to be honest i don't get it what is so interesting in dance? It is just set of movements which you have to do in proper timing. Popular dances usually don't have anything from the art and are just another way of fun. I also don't like social pressure to dance on weddings and other meetings.

  10. I like dancing this is very nice way to spend you time or express your feeling. When i was very young i attended to dance classes it is really good memories. My favorite dance is a tango, in a future i would like to go to Argentina and learn it. For me tango is a combination of rhythms, different pace, style and emotion. But we should not forget about dances which became very popular like hip hop, modern or jazz.:)

  11. I don't know why, but I don't like dancing. I hate all this tv shows, like 'Dancing with the stars' or 'You can dance'. Anywise sometimes I have strong need of dancing, too. I think then, that I feel it and my moves are perfectly rhytmic. Unfortunately, it is only my imagination, because in fact during the dance I look rather unskillfully :P

  12. When I read this presentation I reminded the time of my primary education. We prepared interschool tournament and we danced flamenco then ;) You write about waltz. It makes me think about romantic scenes from movies and the first dances at weddings. Waltz is a king of dances, it is so light and ethereal. I like it very much. It would be nice to dance a waltz someday like in movies. :)

When I look at my friends I think that Poles love to dance. And they really can to dance. ;)

Some people express themselves through dance. Dance is becoming increasingly popular. On TV is a lot of dance programs. It's a great opportunity for people who love to dance. I think the tango is a very emotional and very passionate dance. Maybe someday I will learn to dance tango.

  15. I am not a type of a dancer, but when I go to the disco, I dance the whole night. I know that dance became famous due to TV programmes, but still it doesn't make anybody great dancer. I don't like those programmes, because they show that dancing and singing are the only activities worth showing other people. I can't say that dancing is not fun, but I like doing other things instead.

  16. There are so many different things related to dance. The History of it represented the culture and tradition of one own self and due to this it would be also possible to be able to express your passion only in front of Audience the people could feel comfortable about. I admire dancing but am always stuck due to unwanted reason though this presentation explains more than in dance except than just salsa. Which is also not a small deal

  17. We've got so many dance shows in polish TV. I think this is the proof of how much fun people have with this. Every one likes to forget about work, school and other problems on friday party, when we can dance all night! Also, for some people it's the way to express themselves. And for another is a professional sport. For each dance is something completely different. Even for those who do not like it - they may laught of their friend's funny moves.

  20. Dance is something more than history and culture of some countries. It is a story of dancer's life or feelings or just form of fun. We can express ourselves in dance. I used to dance but my health didn't let me continue it. We should dance as much as we can, we need to express our emotions and we can show them by our body.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
