GLOBAL WARMING

Recently we hear a lot about global warming. Radio, press and television have recently moved the salable topic. But what, it really is global warming and whether they are really devastating consequences?

What is global warming?

Global warming - the phenomenon of increase in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Since 20th century average surface temperature has increased by about 0.8 °C.
Global warming is caused by the discharge to atmosphere of greenhouse gases - mainly carbon dioxide and methane. In other words, instead of heat to escape into space, it is accumulated in the atmosphere like in a thick blanket, causing the temperature increase.

 Reposted from: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/58/Greenhouse_Effect.svg/750px-Greenhouse_Effect.svg.png 16.05.2012.

The researchers say that global warming and the greenhouse effect are largely caused by man. Driving by car, plane, or coal plants - all reportedly worse conditions on Earth. Added to this is deforestation (for example, in the Amazon forest), which reduces the amount of circulating oxygen in the atmosphere.

According to information from NCDC {which is the largest institution that collects weather information) shows that about 50 years, our average temperature is increasing. Apparently the decade to decade is getting worse. Such an increase in temperature does not contribute much to climate change, but it carries very serious consequences.
For example:

  • Rising sea levels. This causes seasonal flooding or inundation of some islands and peninsulas.
  • The increase in the number of droughts and heat waves. It will be less and less drinking water, which will lead to the extinction of the weaker sections of the population

  • Reducing the amount of plants and animals, and the extinction of some of their species.

  •  Threat of mosquito-borne diseases, insects and rodents in areas where these diseases were previously unheard of.
Curiosity is that the United States is most responsible for the continuous warming of the atmosphere. Although their population is only 4% of the population of the Earth, is an industry pollutes the atmosphere more than China, India and Japan put together.

And what I think about global warming? I think that this is in some sense the problem. All these factors will result in irreversible changes on our planet. We should accordingly reduce the negative action. But we can not fall from one extreme to another. Remember, with hesitation climate and temperature are characteristic of the Earth. From the Ice Age through in a very dry climate. This is the normal cycle of the Earth. Even so, always remember that when we come to the next generation. And for them we should take care of our planet.

And what do you think about this?

  1. Honestly, I don't believe in global warning. There is no doubt that we should limit factors which brings about bad consequences for our planet. But world is changing, maybe this is natural force. Change of climate not depends only on us. However, we should find out the way which could protect our environment and climate against bad changes.

    1. I share your opinion. Global warMing is great business. Honestly, I admire cunning of EcoPreneurs, who lobby for changes in environmental policy. I should start my own business. Maybe the sollar collectors would be the great idea..

  2. In my opinion, we should take care more of our planet and try harder to look for solutions which let us protect it. Unfortunately it is very difficult and expensive task.
I believe in global warming but I'm not sure if we can change it or prevent it.

  3. The consequences of global warming are terrifying so I think that we should try to do something to prevent it. Maybe we should limit number of factories, start to use public communication, or commute by bike? I think that global warming is serious problem and we should take some effort to prevent it. I think that it is our duty to leave the planet to the next generations in the same condition as we get.

  4. Global warming is huge threat to our planet. Our eco-system is changing and it is dangerous for our environment and the creatures living in it. We should do something to prevent it. In my opinion one of the worst consequences of global warming is fact that, water levels in the oceans, seas is increasing we can lose a lot of islands and continents, such as Venice etc.

  5. I agree with us, that global warming is a very big problem, but on the other hand I think many people can't realize, that this phenomenon may be terrifying consequences for our planet and for future generations. Floods, drought, a lack of water, extinction of animals- everything sounds very scary. Maybe that disasters won't affect our generation, but who knows what can happen in a few decades? Less factories, less cars a good idea. We should take care of our planet, because it gives us life. Climate is changing, I believe that people have a little influence on it, so try not to downplay the matter.

  6. Sometimes I am afraid of this world.. of living on the Earth nowadays. Especially when I read such presentation about global warming which is very very dangerous for people, animals and plants! We dont realise that we cause global warming. Stop wasting energy, many of us leave tv or radio on while in fact we dont use or need it. Remember about animals on Antarctica! The more energy you use the less home they have.. Sad but true...

  7. Looking at the weather I don't believe in global warming. In may it is supposed more than 20 degrees temperature and this week it's 13-14... So this predictions aren't true at all.

  8. I think we should take better care of our planet. Global warming is a serious threat to us. It has an impact on our climate and its changes. We should take care of our environment.

  9. In my opinion we shouldn't panic about global warming.
In the XIX century futurologists predicted that in near future, because of growing amount horses which were used in carriages, London would die under a pile of dung. Of course, this prophecy didn't work because none expected that would be invented cars and trains. This event teach us that we can't predict advance in science and problems which now are very serious in future could look ridiculous. Another problem is that nowadays global warming has status of belief(like e.g UFO). This results from uncertainty of scientific research. Summarizing, i think we should rush with introduction drastic measures to protect planet.

  10. Ok, human activity, toxic gases or fumes in the atmosphere (eg. from factories) have an influence on our environment and can accelerate some processes. But changes in climate is a natural order of things. Before people had appeared on earth was already ice age, the hot, equatorial weather and moderate temperatures. These changes can't explained by human activity. Of course we should take care of the earth, but some processes can't avoid.

  11. Global warming seems to be the huge problem of our planet, but seriously, who among us is aware this threat on a daily basis? The press and television remind us about this issue, however I do not see the practical involvment in prevent it. And as someone rightly pointed out, when we look outside the window, it is really hard to believe, that the climate on the Earth warms up. ;)

  12. Global worming is real danger, but not for ous - for future generations. In the past it wasn't a problem, because industry wasn't developed as high as now, so nowadays we should prevent this occurrence to save our planet.

  14. To be honest, global warming is a very big problem for people. I agree with Marta that this problem is really danger for future generations. We should take care of our Earth. Unfortunatelly, people concentrate on live in the present and they ignore problem with global warming. They see only money, pleasure and madness. So they should think about our Earth in the future, because their generations would live in worse conditions.

  15. We all that global warming can be very bad for us and for next generations. Many national gevornments should start to do something in that way. First of all governments should stop deforestation because trees produce oxygen from one of greenhause gas. It's mean trees remove this gas from atmosphere. Furthermore, we have to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide. We should care about next generations and leave our planet clean to them.

  16. If fact I don't give a... care about that. I don't feel it, I don't see it, and I don't care about "in 500 years..." because I won't be alive then! And even children of children of my children won't. And I'm sure they'll be a lot more smarter then we are now. I mean sience is going on so fast...

  17. Global warning it it very popular and fasion topic today. This problem caused a lot of debate over the science of and response to global warming. In my opinin global warning is overrated. A lot of people is talking about it, but only few believe, that it may be real danger. Unfortunately suchis mentality of people...

  18. In my opinion global warming is a normal process, but people could speed up it by their behaviour. We can try to reduce pollution and we can use filters on the chimneys of factories. I'm not sure that it will give positive results. I saw reportage in TV about activity of the sun and interior of the Earth. Maybe this is the cause of problem with global warming.

  19. There are many different opinions about global warming and they are not similar to each other in this matter. I believe that people cannot make such destruction to the Earth, that will cause we won't be able to live here in a hundred years. I don't know what side to choose, because it is true that we may be speeding up a process, but also Earth shows us that its strength is much more greater that ours. Maybe it is a natural process that the tempareture on Earth is going up, but I am definitely sure that it won't be a problem for next years.

  20. I agree with author of this text, global warming is very danger for our planet, anyway I think it's the next 'serious' topic which must be used by media to manipulate people. We have lived on the Earth for thousands years and nothing happend. I suppose, people are still not aware of special behaviour connected with helping our planet, anyway organisations like WWF or Greenpeace try to change this fact and they collect more and more followers. Media make only noise, a lot of noise - for what ? Media wants manipulate people, scare us. Nobody talks about it, huh? This is real problem.

  21. I think that article reveals the truth.
In my opinion our planet is moving naturally to "Warm Age" as milions years ago was Ice Age. We are used to "that moment world" and it is difficult for us to accept another way to live "surrounding by" highest temperature.
I think the greenhouse effect is in a half fictive because Earth has many plants to reduce carbon dioxide to oxygen.
I am a "petrolhead man" and I can't imagine that somebody in future will tell me that my 2.0 litre car is illegal to use at all and I will be forced by officials to go to the museum to see and listen the normal car.
We should focus on renewable sources of energy because that energy is for free for everybody for example wind's energy or sun's energy.

  22. I think it is natural period in history our planet. Mankind don't have influence on climate. Change climate is natural process and all dangerous for us result for economic waste. I think wild animals and plants adapt to new conditions, similar like people. In my opinion "global warming" is a brain washing.

  23. Global warming is something natural but people and their inventions are speeding it up. We should think about some changes like reduce the number of driving cars every day, maybe there should be some law that forbids using car from monday to friday and demand using buses and other public transport. Going further we should interest in renewable sources of energy and stop using polluting coal plants. If we try we can change the effect of global warming coming that fast.

  24. Global warming is natural process. Only people stared to blown this. Glacier was melting and freezing so many times we can't count. Without greenhouse effect temperature on our planet was 15 degrees less. I'm not against fight for producing less CO2, because CO2 makes other problems to our world, but we can't hide it under greenhouse effect.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
