The phenomenon of music festivals

Young people have enjoyed their life in many ways. They have searched for new ways of entertainment and sought more intense experiences. They have wanted to see amazing things, meet interesting people, discover pleasures that can be given only by certain things. For these purposes music festivals were created. They are the places where one can experience his life with every of his senses. The main goal of such initiatives is to create huge, modern music events of electronic and dance music, where people could enjoy the best the world can offer. They would over time become the biggest event of that type in Poland and eventually in the whole Europe. They are made to gather and concentrate enthusiasts of good music, supreme entertainment and large scale partying. The greatest and the most interesting artists appear there. The scenes are places where new artists are being discovered and new music streams created. Worth noticing is the fact that not only they are based on music, but also are complete multimedia experience, where a game of both audio and visual performances is being played only for audience’s delight. Festivals are also a special place for homeland artists, because often they are able to present themselves for the first time for such huge audience. There is no better promotion for them, because of the scale of the event and multinational receivers.

Heineken Music Open’er Festival

Open’er is a festiwal which has taken place in Gdynia since 2003. The first edition however was performed in Warsaw, and was known as Open Air Festival. The main organizer of the event since then has been the concert agency Alter Art, while the main sponsor is the Heineken beer producer.

The beginnings of Open’er Festival date back to the year 2002. Back then it was a one day stunt, where the culmination point was the first performance in Poland, of the electronic group known as The Chemical Brothers.

Year later, in 2003 the festival was moved to Gdynia. The scene was set up at Kościuszko Square, where the music enthusiasts could experience the show for the whole two days. The place was filled to the brim because of growing popularity of the festival. Such stars as Cypress Hill, Goldfrapp, Massive Attack or Kosheen had their concerts there and were heavily applauded.

The festival has been since then a great success. It gathered more and more enthusiasts and eventually, after throwing out a party for over 25 thousand people in 2005, the KoÅ›ciuszko Square became too tight. Year after the fest took place at nearly unlimited space, which was, and still is the airfield Babie DoÅ‚y – Kosakowo. The organizers also prolonged it to a three day long party.

There were built seven stages: Main, Tent Stage, World Stage, Young Talent Stage, Alret Space and two electronic spaces, where for 50 thousand audience, simultaneously played the greatest music stars.

During the last, tenth, a 4 day long, edition of the festival, there were over 85 thousand auditors, and the event was being related by about 500 journalists. New attractions, such as Ferris Wheel or Silent Disco were introduced. Fans were having fun at Prince’s birthday concert, finalized with fireworks.

Heineken Open’er Festival not only is an example of scale, but also a pioneer of event organization solutions, such as badges or ticket distribution, copied by other parties of this type. The fame of the fest has made it so popular and desirable, especially by eager to party youth, that the tickets are being entirely sold long before the audience knows the first artist.

Coke Live Music Festival takes place in Cracow since 2006 and it was designed as a solid season closer and until now it continues to stay true to the festivals roots with a focus on Brit Rock and pop acts from around the world. It consists of a mix of top international acts and Polish artists over three main stages. It is organized by the concert agency called Alter Art, and mainly sponsored by Coca-Cola Company. The festival has achieved a huge media and commercial success. Each year it lasts longer – the first edition took only one day, while the fourth lasted the whole three days, more and more artists arrive to perform and the audience increases significantly each edition. The festival was nominated for the prestigious award UK Festival Awards 2009, as Best Overseas Festival, which means best festival taking place outside of Great Britain – in the European continent.

Coke Live Music Festival started as a festival of hip – hop, r’n’b and pop music. During next editions, rock music fans could find something more for themselves. Festival stages hosted the greatest stars. It’s the only one event, where such artists as Rihanna, Lily Allen, Kaiser Chiefs, Muse, 50 Cent or The Chemical Brothers could be seen together sharing stage.

The first edition of Coke Live was introduced in 2006 and took place in the boundaries of Crackow’s ‘Wisla’ club. The next editions occurred in the airfield of the Museum of Aviation. Each year the festival’s attendance grows: in 2008 there were 20 thousand participants, in 2009 ten thousand more, while the next year 45 thousand people were having fun to such bands as Jay-Z, Timbaland, 30 Seconds To Mars, Panic At The Disco and more.

The festival features also a project called Coke Live Fresh Noise – a multistage program of supporting new talents. Young producers, musicians, Dj’s and vocalists have an opportunity to meet the most recognizable characters of Polish music. The champion of the edition is able to perform his concert at the main stage of Coke Live Music Festival, he receives the musical equipment and has an opportunity to record his own material. So far there were five editions of the program.

Burn Selektor Festival

http://www.students.pl/kultura/details/58074/Burn-Selector-Festival-2012-1-2-czerwca-2012-Krakow

Since 2009, for two days in a year, a part of Crackow’s Common becomes a festival center. The goal is to create a large, up-to-date event where thousands of electronic and dance music can enjoy the great performance and experience pleasure. If one’s favorite genre is Electro and Dance then that’s a place for him. Selector provides a mixture of mainstream and underground artists each year. The organizer is the concert agency Alter Art and the main sponsor the producer of Burn Energy Drink

Selector however, comparing to massive Open’er, is not that big. It consists of only two stages, but the quality of entertainment provided is quite similar. In the open, empty field, two huge tents are being set up for each stage. Such spacing ensures nice, concert atmosphere and provides good acoustic conditions so that the concerts sound even more extraordinarily.

The first edition was a success in both artistic and attendance conditions. It allowed to list Selector Festival as one of the greatest cultural events in Poland. In 2009 on the festival’s stage the greatest and the most interesting artists appeared. Stars of electronic music, fresh tones and new discoveries, such as Franz Ferdinand, Royksopp, Deadmau5, Busy P, Agoria, Fisherspooner or Orbital performed on two festival stages, creating an unforgivable and extremely fascinating audio visual experience only to please the audience.

The next scenes of the festival were nonetheless successful. Each year in Cracow almost 10 thousand people party for two nights, listening and watching the most prestigious and carefully selected Electro and Dance celebrities. The visuals are given to the professionals so the whole effect is even more breathtaking. The audience every time greets warmly both Electro and Rock artists. During all three editions of Selector Festival such celebrities as Klaxons, Ladytron, Royksopp, Last Blush, Yeah?, La Roux, Franz Ferdinand, Crystal Castles, The Orb, Fisherspooner or Deadmau5 could be seen and admired.

  5. I was on each of these three festivals, and I remember this time very well. A few days with friends and great music-it's a good idea for a holiday. With relatively little cash can really be at the concerts and many bands are world class. Unfortunately, less and less like the atmosphere that prevails at Open'er Festival. In Cracow I enjoyed very well- good organization and great people, but I prefer other music(beyond the individual concerts). I like the Off Festival and Jarocin, also Polish, and my dream is to go to the Czech Republic on Brutal Assalut Festival;)

  6. Few years ago I was dreaming about going at the Open'er Festival. But for my parents I was too young for traveling with contemporaries to the other side of Poland.
Now, when I could, I don't want to. I hate it, when I'm on a concert and people are talking, walking and interfering me with listening. Maybe bacause of kind of music I like, but I prefere sitting concerts in closed halls.

  7. At the beginning of every year I plan oncoming concerts and music festivals and I always wait for them very much. Music festivals are the best evenings every year, every summer! For me they are synonym of holiday. The best musisc festival is of cource Woodstock and I do not understand why Kinga did not write about this event in Kostrzyn. This is really large-scale music event and every year many foreigners (people from Germany and UK in most cases) take part in Woodstock. The Festival is organized by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation in order to thank all its volunteers. Nevertheless, I consider Heineken and Coke Live Music Festival also great. From me, music festivals are the must!

  11. I don't like music festival, only because there is always too much people, who dont' come for great music, but they come for drinking a beer and making chaos.
Instead, I like going on small concerts with my friends. We like similar music and we can meet there other people who loves our music, too!
Maybe one day I will go on some festival, who knows?

    1. In my opinion these kinds of festivals are great events. I have been to few of them and I really recommend everyone to go. Being there with best friends, listening favourite music and having fun makes me feel it was the best time of my life. I think that this is really awesome that you can see international stars on one stage for one ticket. I think that this is worth its price.

  12. I've planned to go to such festival last year but unfortunately I couldn't and decided to go this year. By this presentation you've made me 100% sure that I just have to go there, be there and feel all of this! I think that everyone at least once in a life should go for this size festival and then you can really tell whether you like this kind of events or not.

  15. I love music festivals, and when I know that somethink like this will happen soon I'm trying to reserve some time to go there. Why music festivals are so great? Firs of all, because there are many different people, often from all over the world. You can make some new friendships. The second reason is, of course, the great music in your favourite kind and the most popular bands. Other reasons is wonderful, unforgettable atmosphere.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
