Are Polish people racist?

It's hard to imagine that in the third millennium, people are still fighting the problem as simple as racism. A simple, because the nascent only in our heads, and every rational person should get rid of this nasty habit. However, it is quite the opposite, I think that over time the problem of racism in Poland is somewhere still increasing.

AFRICANS

“Hardly 25% of Polish society is positively oriented for Africans’ immigration to Poland” – says opinion poll which was organized by SMG/KRC corp. for ‘Afryka Inaczej’ foundation. One of SMG/KRC workers -Paweł Duński admits that people in Poland mostly are negatively oriented because of lack of information, but he can’t say that Poles are racist. The opinion poll also shows that almost 62% of Polish people is not against to have an African doctor and more that 60% accept them as teacher, neighbor or college. We can assume then that compering to other countries Poles are very tolerant when it becomes to African people and we should be proud of this. But what about other ethnic groups?

JEWS

Jews in Poland is currently very little group. They are not the object of physical assault or any harassment. The law stands on guard all citizens. There is no ethnic discrimination or religious affiliation. Jews who live in Poland tend to have friendships among the Poles. However, in the atmosphere we can feel a slight smell of anti-Semitic. How is that? If there’s almost no Jews, where this reluctance come from? The Jews were merchants, hosts, and among others it has resulted in the emergence of the stereotype of the Jew miser, usurer, dodger. But still we can’t blame them now for what they used to be. Of course a lot of Poles are bad and a lot of Jews are also bad so do not promise ourselves too much. But I think that enough Poles and Jews is good to believe the harmony of our nation.

GIPSIES

Ok, there is the difference between racism and lack of acceptance of theft and excessive zeal in extorting money in the tram. I saw with my own eyes a little gypsy (about 7 years old) tried to steal the old lady's wallet when his mother distracted attention! I'm not saying that all gypsies are thieves but don’t you think that this gypsy-thief stereotype is completely wrong.

ASIANS

We have more and more Asian people in our country - mainly working at kebab and Chinese bars or selling different things at the market. But it’s difficult to see a human respect for them, even though without them we wouldn’t have cheap food and for some people cheap clothes also.

Recently more and more often we see people who’re not white: blacks, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc.. They function normally and live normally because they are normal. Why then there’s even more often to encounter racism?

Personally I am opponent of racism, I believe that every person regardless of race, color, religion, orientation or views have the right to normal life. What about the fact that Mr. Robert is a Jew, and Miss Anna marry Vietnamese? Are there others in this way? Worse? No. In any way. There are normal people, studying, working. They are firefighters, cardinals, teachers, athletes. And what? And save us from the flames, keep the holy Mass, teach us multiplication tables and win medals. Just like we can.

And what do you think? Are we racist or not? Are you tolerant? Comment!

  1. I'm not a racist. I think that people of another religion or of another color enrich our country. Thanks to them we can get to know other cultures, other customs.

  2. I'm not a racist also. I think that it doesn't matter if Your skin is black, white or... mmm yellow. Regardless of religion or morals everyone is a full-fledged human and can function in society. I think that differences between people are good and give opportunity to expand our horizons.

  3. I'm not a racist. I can't understand why people think that a skin's colour have an influence for a personality or for a charakter of all community. It's an absurd. Of course, there are criminals who are jews or form Asia but it's normal. In Poland they are, too. Everywhere they are. It's obvious that you can't like everybody. But because of their charakter or behaviour, not because of ethnic origin.

  4. For me it doesn't matter what is colour of you skin. I think most of young people are no racist, because we know many people with a different coloured skin and they are our friends from school, work.

  5. I consider myself as a tolerant person too. We shouldn't divide people into racial groups. It is common to name people racists when we are pointing bad character traits of other people. I think that when foreigners comes to our country they should adapt to our culture and way of thinking.

  6. I think that I'm a tolerant person. Foreigners are a part of our lives. We should not treat them like a worse kind of people than we are. We should have respect for them because if they want to come back to their countries the economy will be worse. But they have to accept our culture and shouldn't try to change it. In reality, racist lives in every country.

  7. This is my favourite presentation! Very important topic for us - humans. I think polish people are not tolerant . Maybe only in big cities like Warsaw, but when people see an African, their reaction is not always right. I think that we should be treated the same , it doesnt matter what color we represent or what nationality. We live in 21st century, so we have no choice. However I try everyday to stay tolerant.

  8. I think that in Poland there is still widespread discouragement to people of different nationalities, different skin color. Many times in the street I meet with hostile gaze of other people passing through them, people who are different even skin color. I think that there should be, because everyone has the right to equal treatment in the world and reside anywhere in the ground.

  10. I think racism in Poland is still a problem but im my opinion is moving down. I think the racism comes to us from "west" where Blackman was a slaver without his rights. Many years ago lords - Whitemans had been thinking the Blackmans are only manpower so they were disesteeming them. Obvious is they aren't manpower. In my opinion now in Poland we only have skin's colour problem which is different, not as in France where them have a historical problem. The colour of the skin says that what is the concentration of melanin inside, nohing more.

  11. I think we, as nation are rasists. I am not prejudiced to black people or asian or judes or different nations or groups of people. I heard not once people screaming or calling black people as asphalt or even worse. Maybe it is caused because of how Polish people been treated during war and now, when we are free they are rude and intolerant.

  12. Poles I think are not after all racist. We have a lot jokes about jews, gipsies and african people but it's all for joke. Oldest genres are xenophobic but the youngest aren't like them. In my opinion it doesnt matter what color of skin are they. People are people. We are homo sapiens sapiens.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
