Strange diseases

Many people in the world are ill. There exist many different diseases, more serious and less serious. There are people for whom fever, flu or cough are not a problem because they suffer from more serious illnesses. I will show you now some examples.

1. Blue skin
In the USA there lived once a family which members had blue skin. Most of them did not have any serious diseases. Some of them lived even 80 years. Their illness is connected with abnormalities in haemoglobin.

2. Progeria
Genetic disorder which causes faster ageing. Children with progeria generally don't live more than 13 years but there are some exceptions. People with this illness have the same problems as old people, for example problems with bones, heart and many more.

3. Syndactyly
This illness is extremely rare among people. A child is born with many fingers and/or toes which are grown together. One boy had 31 fingers and toes.

4. Phocomelia
In this defect a person has no long bones. Feet and hands are directly connected to the body.

These diseases are genetic and we don't know how to cure them. Some of them are lethal, others can make life harder. How do these people feel? Have you ever thought what would you do if you were one of them?

  1. There are really frightening disorders. I'm happy that I'm healthy. I can imagine that this people's lifes are very hard. Sometimes different diseases show us bright sides of our life. We should sometimes stop, look around and appreciate small things. As human beings we should support and help each other.

  2. This blog really gives reason to think... People who are healthy, often can`t appreciate what they have. The sick persons enjoy even from the smallest things and I think that in this , they are better than us. Such persons are more sensitive, direct and They don`t afraid show a real emotion and that is the reasons why we should learn from them. Also we should learn how to love that people, how help them in their life witch is extremely hard. It isn`t their fault that they were born sick, they deserve understanding and respect from society.

  3. I'm glad that you've brought up that topic. It is important not to be inactive about human tragedy that the illness can bee... I got a feeling that most of us do not appreciate the fact that we are healthy and abled. We neeed to remember that if there is no healt there is no happiness. You can't buy a health...

  5. This article very much moved me and gave me a lot for the thinking. I am admiring these people, they have so much power in themselves, they wish lives and they appreciate every day and every moment are able to be pleased in spite of such obstacles a fate gave to them which. I am also full of admiration for families of these people which have also incredible decks of power and the determination can to support one's sick persons of family and friends and look after oneself with them, it is really remarkable. I am pleased very much that I am healthy, I don't know how I would behave if I suffered on some around of diseases described in this article. I don't know whether I would have so much strength to live.

  6. I never seen people with blue skin or with 31 fingers and toes, but I know that it must be very hard for them. A lot of people laugh at sick persons, becouse they never been in this situation when they can't go to the walk, becouse everybody watch of them. I know that health is the most important in my live, so I'm happy that I'm not sick.

  7. I have no idea what do they feel but certainly it can't be fine. I once saw a man with a face cancer. It was quite a shock. I don't know why such tragedies happen. Health is the most important thing, and we should every day thank God for being healthly.

  8. We often ask many questions, which are bound up with our life. This questions concern existence. We are working all life, because we want achieve at the most, but we are not happy. People with phocomelia, progeria, syndactyly and with other hard genetic diseases are more happy than healthy people, because their often short life is more valuable than our. They have close their family and sincere friends. They know what is veritably important. I saw many documentary about people with progeria. This children with their parents in USA have yearly organized meeting, where each other are talking, play at something. They try be alive like healthy people. Of course I'm happy, because I'm healthy and I don't want be be ill like they, but in one of documentary I heard something important. 1o years old boy said, that people when they saw him are talking, that they have a soft spot for him. He think, that it's deriving from vanity...

  9. It is horrifying that exist among people such illnesses as progeria, syndactyly or phocomelia. We complain about cough or headache, but we don't realize how can feel somebody, who have a blue skin or have problems with bones and heart, even though he have ten-odd years. Unfortunately, people are also catching such illnesses. When we are talking about this kind od diseases, I must admit to something. I hate the absent-mindedness. It is very annoying for me, when I see a person, who suffer from more different illnesses and many people watching him. Nobody will think, that their curiosity can cause pain. If we want to watch the unusual coincidence - lets go to the museum! Let us not to do distress for people which already have a lot of problems.

  10. It is little scary. I feel so good that haven't got any of those disease. I've heard of disorder called Trichotillomania. People who are suffered form this pulled their hair out not only from head, but from other parties of body too - they are plucking hairs from legs, under arms, also from eyebrows and eyelashes! This is horrible..

  11. Your presentation gives a lot to think. People often complain about their appearance, figure, etc., forgetting that there are people who have much bigger problems.Such diseases certainly make life difficult. People who suffer from these diseases may feel alienated from society. Scary and sad is that genetic diseases can’t be cured. I can’t imagine what such person can feel. We should appreciate what we have and enjoy life, because health is the greatest treasure.

  12. I have once heard that this man's blue skin is caused by some silver molecules from medicine he once took. Now it can't be removed and he will be blue till the end.

  13. I have never heard of blue skin disease. Often in newspapers or on Internet portals we can read articles about various diseases that affect only a few people around the world and for which there is no cure. I am glad that in my family no one has any serious illness.

  14. I think that it's the most interesting post of all. Those deseases may look funny but they are very dangerous for people and we have to be happy that we're healthy.

  15. There are many diseases that make life difficult. People with disabilities isn't easy to live. Often they are alienated and stigmatized by society. Usually they have only their family. I have never met a disabled person and I can't imagine how they feel. I really appreciate that I'm healthy.

  16. When I look at this pictures, typical problems, like beauty, money, career seem to be insignificant. I feel sorry for this people because they will never have normal life. Other people are always paying attention to them, they are laughing at and pointing a finger at them. I think that children should be educated from the primary school that we have to live with ill people in one community and we are everybody the same.

  17. That's why I believe that health is the most important thing we should care about. And we should appreciate what we have, not only complain how our lifes are difficult. Imagine how much harder it would be if we had one of these terrible diseases... Unfortunately stupid human nature is that we appreciate things we had after we lost them, including healthy. Speaking of God (few posts up) let's assume he exist. Then we should thank him for our health. Well then what should be thankful those people on pictures for? And why they've been punished like that? Only God knows, right?

  18. Wow, those diseases that you present are truly gruesome. I saw on television of people with conjoined limbs and other ailments. Fortunately I was born and I am healthy

  19. Once I saw a movie about children who had got a progeria. It was very sad for me, because I was 13 or 15 years old. For me, it were the first years of my life. For them, my peers, it were the latest years or months... I hope and believe that in the future a medicine will be more developed and it could help people for normal life.

  20. I am convinced that people suffering from these ailments do not feel fully comfortable in his own body. On the one hand today's world is very tolerant of such stuff in style among the outstanding units of society, on the other end can not accept people sick. Dismayed by the tragedy of these people, but we are afraid to be with these people. It seems to me that this is due to the still low level of knowledge about the average people of medicine. We are trying to protect himself, but repeatedly, holding at bay the sick makes them great distress.

  21. It's sad that nowadays no one can help these sick people. Even though technology and medicine evolve, it's no cure for such a strange and serious diseases. These people are suffering and probably beyond the physical pain often meet their lack of tolerance on the other people. And yes, health is the most important in life.

  22. Omg blue skin... I have never heard about such disease which causes blue skin. Some of these diseases are really terrible. For example phocomelia... For sure it is horrible for such person who suffer from any of them. Reading about such diseases I'm really happy and thankful that I'm healthy.

  23. I think most of these examples are not disease but it's not expected mutation and this is variance of genes. Everyone have some mutation. But make me sad that some people have such damaging mutation. I hope that in future we will can cure everyone of this mutation.

  24. I came across this article because I am trying to learn as much as I can about phocomelia. My daughter seems to be like the examples I have seen with very small arms and a single finger on both ends. It took a few weeks but I see her as a normal happy baby after the shock and worry about her future. She is only 8 months old now and she laughs, plays, smiles, and I can dress her up to be beautiful. From the videos I have seen of other armless young women, they all seem amazing, driven, and optimistic. Characteristics that are valuable and admired that may have been developed by their struggle to adapt.

  25. When I read this post I suddenly realized how lucky I am to have been born healthy. Just one simple mutation in the DNA, so can greatly hinder a person's life. It reminds me of my colleague was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. This is not so strange disease as the ones listed above, but also makes the person get a lot of problems. I'll never forget how when talking about pension funds said friend said, "Do not I need a pension fund. Probably I will not live to forty." Then I thought a lot about this topic. It must be terrible to live with that knowledge. It is difficult to imagine yourself in this situation, how I would feel and behave. I think I would use up the time that I have left and live it as the happiest.

  26. OMG, I'm afraid of such diseases :( it's scary as can be human body genetically modified. It looks so unnatural as the science-fiction movies ... But when these things happen, I guess we should more talk about this fact.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
