10 UNIQUE WEDDING TRADITIONS AROUND THE WORLD

Everyone knows that each and every ceremony has its own traditions; for example, the wedding day. It is different in different countries but I will present the strangest in my opinion.

Save the day

The bride and groom are required to kill a small chicken (a few days after postpartum). And after this procedure, they  check its liver’s quality. If the liver is in good condition they are allowed to set a date. But if not, they have to repeat this process until they find an acceptable liver.

      Wearing white

A white bridal dress is very strange to most of the world. In most countries brides wear multicolored dress. So why is it normal for us? So it started when Queen Victoria (in 1840) wore a white dress during her wedding ceremony with marriage to Prince Albert. In her day, this decision was quite controversial cause the white color was associated with mourning.

   Balaka

In Korea the friends of the groom  take off his socks, tie a rope around his ankles and beat his feet with fish. The tradition prepares him for his first weeding night.

Strawboys

This strange wedding tradition comes to us from the Irish counties of Leitrim and Mayo. There are 9 young men that are conjointly designated as “straw boys” in these counties. On the evening  before the wedding strawboys go to the house of the bride and dance with her.

 Blackening the Bride

To celebrate the happiest day in a woman’s life friends of the bride show fondness by putting some nasty things like: curdled milk, dead fish, spoiled food, tar, sauces, mud, flour, sausages into a bucket and throw it over her. In Scotland people believe that if you can handle this you can handle anything, including marriage and problems which will come across during matrimony

Preplanned Crying

We know that preparation to a wedding can be an emotional experience for many brides. But brides and females of the Tujia people in China set new standards of this stressful operation. One month before the ceremony the bride cries for one hour every day. By the end of the month every female in the family is crying alongside the bride. When women cry in different tones it means that they are happy and they celebrate this event.

   Marrying a Tree

In parts of India women born as Mangliks (an astrological combination when Mars and Saturn are both under the 7th house), are apparently "cursed". It’s believed that they can bring death to their husband. To prevent this they must first be married to a tree and the tree is cut down to break the curse.

Avoid using toilet paper, go green

In Indonesia honeymooners are housebound for three days and nights following the wedding and they are not allowed to use the toilet. The couple is watched over and is allowed minimal amounts of food and drink. This honeymoon house arrest is made in order to produce a happy marriage full of healthy babies.

  Spitting on the Bride

At a Massai wedding, the father of the bride blesses his daughter by spitting on her head and breasts. She has to leave the village with her husband and can’t  look back so she doesn’t turn into a stone or something worst.

  Shooting the Bride

In China's Yugur culture, grooms shoot their future brides with three bows and arrows (that don't have arrowheads). After the groom collects arrows and breaks them - it  ensures him that newlyweds will love each other forever.

  1. Most of this weird wedding traditions are funny for me... I really wouldn't like to be on the place of this newlyweds who can't use the toilet for three days (I think that it might be a little bit unhealthy..;). In general in Poland we don't have such a bizarre superstition but maybe it is a matter of a person-if you believe in such a things for sure you will find something. It was a surprise for me that white colour used to be a symbol of mourning... Thanks God it changed, I wouldn't like to get married in black dress for example :) By the way I am not going to do this in close future, just sayin.

  2. I haven't known these strange wedding traditions and I don't know others, but I'm sure that in our slavic culture also were some weird practices, but they are no more maintained.
For me the funniest is this Scottish traditions of throwing over a bride bucket with abominable things.
I'm not going to get married soon.

  3. All of these wedding traditions are strange and funny, and most, when the father of the bride blesses daughter by spitting on her head and breasts, and her husband can't turn around when they leave the village. In Poland, there are many different traditions, but none is so strange. I have many times participated in the kidnapping of bride in a chariot, and the groom had to somehow retrieve her.
I'm not planning a wedding. I'm young, I want to finish education, find a good job and then think about marriage.

  4. I found more than this 10 unique wedding traditions around the world when I prepared this presentation and all of them were quite weird but on the other hand funny. I would like to take a part in most of these customs

  5. For me the funniest traditon is Massai wedding custom - SPITTING ON THE BRIDE. I cant imagine it. Unfortunately I donn't know about others strange weeding traditons form the World. I would going to married but not soon ;)

  6. Having found out that brides in India must first get married to a tree, was an astounding surprise for me. It is amusing that average trees may prevent a husband-to-be from passing away. In this day and age there are a great deal of mystifying wedding traditions. One of them is splitting on bridge's head. In this way, fathers bless their daughters. It is so unbelievable as well as disgusting! As far as I am concerned I am not going to get married in a not too distant future. That's why I don't have to worry about such weird superstitions.

  8. I don't know any other wedding traditions, but each one you mentioned is stupid for me. Funny? Maybe I have a different sense of humour, but I can't see anything funny in not using toilet for three days. It is dumb and dangerous. To be honest, I'm not even interested in polish wedding traditions. I'm not going to get married soon, but when this thing will happen, I'm not going to take part in any of these stupid superstitions.

  9. I thought that a white bridial dress is something normal all over the world. I had no idea that in most countries brides wear multicolored dresses. Even in American films we can see beautiful brides in white. So this tradition, which appears obvious and normal for me (and the rest oj Poles for sure) is weird for people who live abroad.
What is more, straight majority of these traditions are weird and funny for me. Some people above write about splitting on bridge's head by father in order to bless daughter. I also choose this tradition as the most inexplicable and as Paula said, disgusting. I don't know any other wedding traditions, esspecialy such traditions as you write about in your presentation :)

  10. Traditions presented in this presentation seem very strange for me, I have never thought that people do things like that. I don't think that I would like to have this kind of traditions during my wedding day. I know a tradition when a bride throws a bouquet of flowers behind her and a girl who catches it, will be the next person to get married. I am not going to married soon.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Each presented tradition seems senseless to me but crying ladies beats the rest. I'm not really into wedding traditions and I'm not going to get married at all.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The most weird tradiotion for me is avoid using toilet paper. I imagine it isn't good influence of life together. In Poland there are a lot of traditions connected with wedding, but they aren't so weird. Guests throw coins in the young couple when they leave the church. The bride and the groom must kiss, when guests sing "Gorzka wódka". I want to get married about two years.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Okay. That was really weird. I don't know how people agree on this. I think our ceremonies are better, but I don;t like it anyway. For me this is stupid. If two people want be together, they just be together.
The weirdest tradition was with killing chicken? Who is so brutal as to come up with something like this? Blackening the bride and spitting on the bride is so stupid. I don't understand it. Weddings do not make sense to me.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I read about some of them, but spitting on the bride is hilarious. I read also that in Fiji you have to not only ask your future father in law for his daughter's hand but also you have to bring a tooth of a whale. How? I have no idea
I don't believe in marriage so I am not thinking aboout it. But even so, my wife hasn't propably born yet :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't know any other traditions but they are all interesting and I have read about some of them for the first time. For me the funniest is beating grooms feet with a fish. I am difinitely not going to get married soon, I prefer affiliate relationship, I think that when two people love each other and live with each other than marriage doesn't change anything and when there are troubles it's harder to break up.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Unfortunately, I don’t know other wedding traditions because I’m not interested in organizing weeding. When it comes to me, it cannot be denied that the funniest wedding tradition is shooting the bride. Grooming bows and arrows might be really silly way of proving love and bounding their life. Another thing is Balaka. It is really thoughtless to take off the socks and tie a rope around ankles and beat feet with fish. It sounds like a nightmare! But… yeah, who says?
It cannot be denied that marriage is a really serious thing. That’s why thinking over this decision is the key to success. Walking down the aisle soon needs some dedication, commitment, lack of hesitancy and true love. I don’t want to take a risk now and make a decision because it is a pledge for many years and I’m not ready for it. Nevertheless, everybody has got a kind of plan for wedding. For me it should be organized undoubtedly with my husband-to-be who I knew as well as myself and I wanted to spend with him the rest of my life.

  17. Spitting on bride? What an akward tradition! And the idea of blackening? It would be a great reason, for me, not to bespouse... Luckily this is not the problem I need to be concerned;) The wedding tradition I'm really fascinated about is the one in India. Brides and other female attendees are often dyed with intricate henna designs to represent the joy, hope, and love of the occasion.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The 'Balaka' sounds fantastic. I would love to see somebody go through that (not me,obviously). Most of the others sound uncomfortable, but funny. Marrying a tree also seems very superstitious, but a bit romantic in a weird way.
One tradition I find very cute is breaking a white bell in Guatemala. During the reception, the mother of the groom breaks a white bell, which is filled with rice, grains and flour. The bell symbolises luck and breaking it is supposed to welcome the newlyweds to the party.
    Am I getting married soon?
    No.

  19. Preplanned crying is in my opinion a comlpetly absurd. Why do I have to practise crying and force the others to do it? Wedding with preplanned crying would be artificial and pathetic.
Of course our polish tradition is that a groom cannot see a bride in a wedding dress before the ceremony.
Am I getting married soon? Who knows? The world is full of suprises.

  21. Well for me Balaka is totally the funniest one. It also shows that Asians are in some kinky business in case of sex. The only wedding tradition I resemble (and I actually consider it funny), is an old Slavic tradiion in which groom must create small statue of Perun, the God of thunder, the all-father and (which is most important in this case) the God of fertility (mostly male). Whole act of wedding had its apogee when bride takes coronet of her head and groom put his statue through it. If you ever see statue of Perun believe me, you will understand the funny part.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Some of these traditions are very weird. I know one, which isn't controversial. On polish weddings when groom and bride get out of the church after getting married, people around throw at young couple grosze (which is polish equivalent for pennies). I find it quite funny.
I am going to get married, just not yet. It's not in plans for a few next years.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I know some traditions, which exist in Poland. It's for example throwing away empty glasses after first drinked champagne as a marriage. I also know that is strong tradition that groom musn't see dressed bride before the ceremony. Also rain while wedding isn't a good prediction.
For me the funniest tradition was connected with special prepared crying. I would like to see it one day.

    ReplyDelete
  24. An important wedding tradition is for the groom not to see the bride in the wedding dress before the mass in church. Sometimes the bride and groom do not see each other for a whole day before the wedding to increase the suspence for when they meet at the altar.

The funniest has to be the one with the crying women.

I am getting married this year.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am quite appalled by the Scottish tradition of blackening the bride. It must be disgusting, I wonder if nowadays this tradition is still alive and if any girls still are ready to get married. I think I would rather live in civil partnership than be doused with a bucket of swill.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The most funniest marriage would be this one which is celebrated in India. To be honest, marriage with tree seems to be unsusal. For now I'm single and even if I would be in relationship with girl, I'm not still prepared fo marriage. Probably, because of mentally aspect. After all, making a family is one of the most important things for humanity and firstly we should be matured to make this decision.

  27. It's amazing! I had no idea that there are so many wedding traditions all around the world! And what's more that they are so strange and funny, people are so creative! It's crazy that every culture has its own traditions that we have no idea that they exist! I wish I could be on at least half of these weddings :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am not planning marrige yet, but who know what will be in 5 or 6 years. Balaka tradition seems to be the funniest for me, i can not see the connection beetween the first night and a fish. In Poland groom and bride after first dring throw glass to the back - if it breaks it means luck.

    ReplyDelete
  29. In Poland groom take bride on hand and cross with her over the threshold to dining room where be wedding reception. It is tradition and mean to end freedom for married couple. For me The funniest is Strawboys. Now I do not have an intention to get merried because I am young and It is before one's time. Maybe for 4 or 5 years when I complete studies.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I haven't heard about some traditions from the article, but it was really interesting for me. Specially, the story about white dress! Actually I'm not really interested in this topic, so I don't know any other strange tradition. The funniest one for me was about Indonesian story that they can't use toilet for three days. I'm too young for get married now, so I haven't though about it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  31. In my point of view the funniest tradition is marrying a tree. Some superstitions from all the world are really surprising. Actually I'm not going to get married in the near future. Maybe after studies, who knows? But I'm sure that at my wedding party I have to have some Polish traditions for example throwing a veil or hitting glasses for a champagne. Our Polish traditions make weddings unforgettable.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't know much bizarre wedding traditions, the mentioned ones are the weirdest I have ever heard about, but I can add that indian bride has to be sad during her wedding, because she's leaving her father's house and going to leave with her husband and his family. And even she's happy, she has to pretend that she's not.

I find tradition from Korea the weirdest. How could all of these prepare him for the wedding night?

I'm not going to get married soon. I don't even know if I won't stay a spinster. Who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  33. All of this wedding tradition are very weird and funny. I've never heard about them. For me the funniest one is about preplanned crying. It is very strange but I like it. I like sometimes to cry just without any reason. So it would be very funny emotional experience for me.
I now another one strange tradition that Gypsies have. Parents of the newlyweds have to check if there is a bride's blood on the sheets. And after they find that everything "ok" they show this sheets to the guests and dance.
I'm not going to get married soon. I have another plans for my nearest future, but who knows what will happen even tomorrow :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. No, I'm not going to get married very soon, but in few years (4 or 5) it can be possible. I don't know these/ other wedding traditions from this article. In my opinion, all of these wedding traditions are funny and strange. I think that the weirdest wedding tradition is spitting on the bride. It's ugly!

    ReplyDelete
  35. My dad told me that in the past the bride was being "kidnapped" during the wedding. Groom and best man had to look for her and "purchase" her from kidnappers by giving them food. In my hometown there are lots of crazy wedding traditions, but I found that the most funny.

I'm not going to ger married soon. But I'm already prepared by my family and relatives, what should bride and groom do. Groom shouldn't watch bride in her wedding dress. Wedding shouldn't take place in month without "r" in its name. Father and godfather should put some money in groom's and bride's shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  36. In Poland there are many marriage traditions. Newlyweds are showered with rice or coins. Groom shouldn't watch the bride in her wedding dress. The tradition I like the most is the case when bride who throws her bunch in the crowd of woman and the one who catches it will get married soon. I'm pretty shocked abuot some of traditions mentioned above. They are quite strange I would say. Spitting on the bride, shooting the bride, weird... I don't know when I will get married but if I do I would definitely like to sustain Polish traditions.

    ReplyDelete

  37. These all traditions are crazy for me. Especially "save the day" is cruel, because you must kill small chicken. Or "marrying a tree" which means later cut down tree is so stupid and non environmentally friendly.
In my country there are some marrying traditions, for example you shouldn't get married in month which has not "r", greeting with bread and salt, sprinkling with rose petals or rice.
I am not going to get married. I think marriage is not the most important thing in relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  38. All customs mentioned in the text are extremely interesting. I had no opportunity to get acquainted with any of them before. Some are scary, for example, 'BALAKA' and others quite funny, such as 'PREPLANNED CRYING'. In our country, there are probably not such crazy traditions. We have a few customs, but they are not that crazy. Always before the wedding we have so-called hen and stag parties. The wedding and the wedding also have a few of their customs. These include, for example, the ban on the bride in the wedding dress from being seen by the groom before the ceremony. During the wedding, I also have some of my games during the so-called oczepiny. At my wedding reception in a few years I would also like to do some of them.

    ReplyDelete
  39. For me the funniest wedding tradition is preplanned crying. It is ridiculous and I’m sure that this tradition don’t have any impact on future life of newlyweds. I think in Poland there are lots of wedding’s traditions but they aren’t so weird, for example greeting couple with salt and bread or the groom should carry his wife over the threshold of the door. I don’t know when I will get marriage. But I’m convinced that I stick with Polish traditions.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't think I know any other traditions, but I heard that bride should have in the day of the weeding something something white, something used, something borrowed, something new, and not to wear anything pink on the weeding day because is unlucky. Most of those traditions were not funny, but rather dump. The one were bride has to eat some horrible food to make sure that she will be happy in weeding and the one where father of the bride spits on here are really disgusting. I'm not planning on marring anybody, come on! I'm really young, but even if I would marry someone I would never do any of those traditional things.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Some of the traditions mentioned in the presentation are funny but also scary, for example "Save the day".To be honest I've never heard about most of them. I don't think that I know any other cool and interesting traditions. Maybe I will get to know some, when I will be getting married. But now I'm not planning it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  42. "Spitting on the bride" sounds like a legend or fairy tale for children. I can't believe that people do such strange things! It's also very shocking for me to wear colorful wedding dresses. I hadn't idea that it's popular only in our area. Colorful dresses can be worn each day. White aren't very popular and are associated just with wedding, so I'm glad that we have such a beautiful tradition. The last of the described traditions is also quite frightening. Why they can't kiss and have to shoot? I'm not sure that person, who invented this, was psychically healthy. :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well, I'm quite shocked because some of these traditions are strange for me and I have never heard about them before. I'm not sure if I could do away with some of them, for example I can't imagine killing small chicken, putting some nasty things into a bucket and throw it over the bride, marrying a tree is quite interesting tradition, spitting on the bride is disgusting. I know some more traditions like: bride should wear something blue, something borrowed, I heard also about coin in the shoe. For me most funny one is BALAKA, but all of these traditions are so different. I'm not going to get married soon, but I'm sure when this time will come I will think about all of these traditions.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have never heard of the greater part of these pre-wedding customs that is practiced in the world. For me they are a bit strange and incomprehensible, although I know that probably for those who still use them are fully logical and often fun. There is one custom for weddings in my family. The "kidnapping" of the bride takes place. The groom must pay the ransom and get her bac from the hands of the "hijackers" (who are wedding guests). The ransom is an alcohol and food. It is already a very old custom and often forgotten, although when I was a little girl, I have heard and seen it many times.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Personally I do not go to weddings often so I also do not know any other wedding tradition but from those presented my favourite is "Balaka". It is so weird, ridiculous and of course funny that I cannot even imagine how can it look. I think that some traditions are very strange and exaggerated. For this moment I do not thinking about marriage but when it comes to that I don't want strange traditions on my wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  46. There are very many different marriages around the world. Some of them are very funny and some are terrifying. It was funny to me with an unlucky woman who must marry a tree - what a touch with nature! :) I did not know, however, what were the beginnings of the tradition associated with a white wedding dress - it's interesting! And in fact, women all over the world dream of a famous white dress ...

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think it's good to have wedding traditions. Soetimes it's something interesting ir maybe on the other hand - funny. I have never heard about this all this wreid traditions from other counties. To be honest, the Balaka seems to be the strangest for me...

I'm only interested in old polish weddings culture like this from ''Wesele'' by Stanisław Wyspiański. In fact, I don't like weddings nowadays. The habits on polish parties like ta lot of alkohol, disco-polo music and the presence of ''wodzirej'' is not in my style. My wedding in the future won't be like that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I’ve never heard about those traditions, but in my opinion they are awesome! If every region had the same traditions, our world would be so boring. To be honest, I’m not into weddings, so I don’t know any other types of „strangers traditions”. For me, the strangest definitely is „Blackening the bride”. I’ve no idea what is the connection between putting that things with happiness in marriage. I think problems with smell less severe than problems in marriage. But nevertheless – I wish you luck!

    ReplyDelete
  49. In my opinion the whole thing with wedding traditions is pointless. For me they are not funny at all and I wonder what people need them for that much and cannot just make it simple. All in all wedding should be about love, not traditions and planning the day that much often makes people forget the true meaning and purpose of it. When people really love each other they will make the day unique on their own way.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don’t know any weird wedding traditions. I’m only aware of normal ones like not seeing the bride in her dress before the wedding or that bride needs to wear something blue, borrowed and old to the wedding.
I never heard about those traditions but most of them are too weird for me. I would not say they are funny. The most hideous for me is spitting on the bride or blackening the bride.
I’m not going to get married soon but my mum is going to do so in a week. I will be the maid of honor and I have many tasks to do before the wedding. This experience makes me think about how I’m gone handle my own wedding because there are a lot of things to do and a lot of money to spend

    ReplyDelete
  51. I’ve never taken part in different wedding than Polish, so I don’t know personally any other wedding tradition But I’ve heard that Hindu wedding is full of amazing rituals. I really would like to take part in one of them one day.
Most of the presented wedding traditions have brought along attempting to make the newlyweds happy and to insure them happy marriage. Although avoid using the toilet paper for three days and nights after the wedding sounds really crazy to me.
I’ve got married many years ago. It was rather traditional Polish wedding. There was a tradition then I considered quite strange that not invited people made a something like a ‘gate’ (they stopped the newlyweds’ car with a ribbon and groom were supposed to give them a bottle of vodka or candies depending on the age of the people).

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think that most popular wedding custom is crashing a glasses for guarantee luck and happy life for newlyweds. Their glasses are connected and they must throw it backwards. If glasses will smash, newlyweds will be happy. If no, someone should crush it one more time. :D

I think that one of funniest presented traditions is avoid using toilet paper. I can't imagine it! It is horrible and I hope that there are only few pairs whose try it.

I want to married, but now I don't planning it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. A lot of wedding traditions are based on various belief and superstitions. Nowadays people are more rational, but because of tradition they are still practicing some weird customs. For me the funniest and the most absurd example is marrying a tree. Also in Poland some ridiculous traditions are cultivated. One of them is Silesian tradition - „Czaskanie” . The day before the wedding, friends, wedding guests and neighbors come and break a lot of porcelain dishes to bring happiness to the bride and groom, while the young have to jointly clean up this what has been broken. I do not plan a wedding in the near future, but I will certainly avoid such customs.

  54. The article is about some strange wedding traditions. Every country has its own culture. The culture has an influence on different aspects of the country and wedding is not an exception. Every aspect of culture is mostly connected with the history of the country and is created on a historical basis mostly.
The text contains the information about different traditions of wedding from all over the world. To my mind, the most interesting wedding tradition among all described in the text is the tradition of India to marry a tree before true marriage. This tradition is rather strange for modern developed people, but this tradition came from medieval times, when most people were not educated at all.
It is a common fact that people decide to marry mostly in perfect time. The decision is connected with many aspects of their private life, such as the readiness for the wedding, the financial situation etc. I think that the perfect time for wedding is not only when the bride and groom are ready for this event. I think that other family members such as parents should also accept a new person in their family and be ready for the marriage of their children.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Okay I won't lie, these are ridiculous. I guess most of these traditions come from long time ago with their roots in superstitions. Some of them described in the article are actually kind of interesting or fun, like the tree marriage or balaka. I found many of them bizarre as well, like the house arrest, or the one with chicken's liver. The blackening one I just find disgusting, with a tinge of amusing somewhere in there.

    ReplyDelete
  56. As many cultures, nationalities and ethnic and national minorities are around the world that there are also many traditions. I find wedding traditions incredibly pretty. The fact that there are so many weeding traditions is a proof that issue is impossibly important. I know a number of traditions which are followed in Poland for instance a ceremony of putting a cap on a bridge’s head at a wedding. The funniest tradition, out of that presented above, is save the day. It is so entertaining that chicken’s liver determines setting a date.

    ReplyDelete
  57. For me the strangest tradition is from Indonesia. I do not think that it is really necessary to do that.
In Poland we have some rules about weddings. For example bride should have something borrowed and something new in her outfit, a month of marriage should have in its name a letter "R" and newlyweds breake their glasses after drinking vodka when wedding party starts.

    ReplyDelete

  59. These traditions are results of superstitions and most of them are ridiculous. The weirdest are "spitting on the bride" and „save the day”. The weirdest and the most disgusting. I can’t imagine that we use them in practice in Poland or any other europen country. We can laugh at these ones but we also have our own customs, maybe they are not that bizarre but they still exist. For example newlyweds before wedding have to throw behind their back glasses and break them for luck and then groom has to carry bride above the doorstep. The most absurd one I know is related to the wedding date. It says: if you get married in month without letter „r” in its name, your marriage will be unlucky. So if you are planning wedding ceremony, don’t forget about it!

  60. The only tradition in Poland that comes to my mind is when a bride throws a bouquet at the wedding party and the woman that catches the bouquet will get married first, or something like that.
Which one is the funniest for you?
To be honest, most of these traditions are kind of terrifying and they are more like superstitions than simply traditions... I think it proves that traditions are kind of useless and stupid in a way, because they blindlessly follow some old beliefs, even if nowadays they make no sense. Maybe some of them are funny or entertaining but I think these weird traditions are kind of a reminder that we can sometimes stick to certain beliefs, simply because we are used to them, even if they have not much to do with current reality. The funniest for me is blackening the wife, because it shows that matrimony is not only sunshine & rainbows.
Are you going to get married soon?
No, most likely it's not going to happen anytime soon.

  61. Very old wedding tradition is carrying on husband's hands a wife over a thresold of their house. Not everyone knows that this tradision has its beginning in ancient Roman empire. For me the funniest is preplaned crying because we know that this tradition exists in our European culture subconsciously. I am not married and nowadays I am not planning it.

  62. The wedding traditions in Poland are now not very diverse. There are some traditional games. One of them looks like this. Groom and bride seat on two chairs touching themselves by their own backs. They have shoes in hands. In one bride's in one groom's. Emcee ask them questions for example: who drives better? And they raise propper shoe as an answer. I has to check thier knowledge about them and their agreement.
From this list the funniest for me is custom of one month crying before wedding. It has to be annoying for the neighbours.

What does it mean soon? Not in month. But maybe in two years. There is no reason for me to wait for it. If you have boyfried or girlfriend, why you should wait? Of course it should be mature decission, for the rest for life but this life is alos quite short.

  63. As I read these paragraphs telling the stories of wedding traditions, I started to wonder if many young people of the nationalities mentioned above even know about such things, for example, I have never been to a country wedding so I wasn't aware of many traditions that polish people have with weddings and wedding parties, like the gate, also, for example with these crazy and disgusting ones, like fish in Korea I wonder if anyone wants to do it and believes that doing it makes real sense

  64. For sure I'm not gonna marry soon, I'm too young and not responsible enough right now. Maybe that's why I haven't been interested in wedding traditions and I read about those described on blog for the first time. Tradition of preplanned crying seems to me funny and ridiculous at once. It sounds like a bride cries a month before the weeding before she prepares herself for her future life. But what's funny, when the Chineese women cry in different tones, they are happy. It's even funnier and still ridiculous. But this one with going green and not using toilet paper is really amusing, I think it's even worth-trying, it's a little bit silly but it's fun.

  65. It is really interesting how different are cultures around the world. I had no idea about many of those traditions and I find some of them surprising and kinda funny. Honestly, spitting on the bride and avoiding using toilet paper seems very weird and kinda disgusting for me. I guess that a lot of people from other countries will also find our traditions strange.

  66. Shooting bride, avoiding toilet and preplanned crying are ridiculous for me. I can't imagine myself doing such things, but every culture has it own traditions and what is extraordinary for us, is common for them. I don't think that I am going to get married soon, I am definitely too young!

  67. Spitting on the Bride. To me, this seems like something incredibly strange. Of course, these are customs and they must be respected, but nevertheless we must understand that our life is changing, time is changing and customs, if they should be, are absolutely not so strict. Many traditions should remain, but still change a little over time. And let us only hear these customs in stories, and others will appear in our time, so that we too can convey something to our heirs.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
