7 methods of learning a new language

Nowadays the learning of new languages is very trendy and important in a global world, particularly for people who enjoy travelling around the world and meeting people of other cultures. The selection of suitable way to learning is very effectual, so I am showing you the several of the most popular and effective methods which you can practice at home.

1. Watch the TV in foreign language

Watching the films, the news and the advertisements helps you in learning correct pronunciation, and in time you'll become better at understanding speakers intentions without even knowing all the words included. Furthermore, you can combine the pleasant and the useful. :)

2. Change the language of the software on your devices

Best to do it in all the outfits, which you use everyday. You'll be forced to get familiar with using language and learn new words. At first it may be difficult, but later you'll be an expert!

3. Do your shopping list in a new language

Thanks to this solution in a very easy way you can practice vocabulary related to food and everyday objects. It's the best way to prepare yourself to live abroad. When you'll be able to name things you want to buy, there'll be nothing between you and delicious dinner in every foreign-speaking corner of the world!

4. Affix sticky notes everywhere in your house

Sticking notes around your flat may seem a little bit strange, but in fact it's a substitute for constant checking everything in a vocabulary. Stick them on thing you use everyday and soon you'll know their names by heart. Now you have your own cheat sheet everywhere around you!

5. Chat with the foreigners

There's not much to say about this method. You'll learn a language... simply by using it and reading/hearing someone using it. It'd be perfect if your partner was a native speaker, because that's the closest you can get to try to simulate using language in everyday life as your first.

6. Talk with your friends in the new language

Determine with your roommates hours in which you will be communicated only in the foreign language. When you don't know a word, you will have to describe it in a different way. This is a great exercise that will force your brain to use the knowledge in a practice. So that you gain language skills over time conversation in a foreign language will become natural for you.

7. Create your blog in the new language
Finding different ways to express yourself in foreign language can be a great exercise for both beginners and more advanced speakers. You can start a blog about any interesting topic you want, but if it's related to your hobbies, you'll also know now more words to use in future conversations.

Of course there are many, many more methods. Learning the foreign language broadens your horizons and gives you the opportunity to travel all over the world, so you should learn many foreign languages. Each method is good if you see that it brings the desired results. If you're tired of self-denial, you can try to learn a whole new language. Nowadays, the Internet is a big improvement in the regard of learning languages, so I strongly recommend you to try the above methods when learning the foreign language.

  1. My favourite way to learn foreign language is watching tv series, to be precise, sitcoms, because I can get to know plenty colloquial words and phrases which you can’t find in the dictionary. Other way which I found very effective and pleasant is listening to the radio and the audiobooks. And my favorite one- playing games in other language. I really liked the idea of doing a shopping list in a new language, it has never come to my mind before.

  2. I like watching movies in english - that's the way I learn this language in an easy and effortless way. I also just memorise words by heart. One of my favourite methods of learning english (and other languages, when I know the basics) is listening to songs with the text. With this method we not only learn the new words but also pronunciation and (not in every song :) ) grammar. With songs I was learning english for many years on english courses and I really could see how it increased my level of english.

  3. I know one more method, but it's similar to those you mentioned
    - I play games in foreign language and chat with other players.
This method is good because you can speak with many people from different
countries and if you all can understand each other it means it's not so
bad with you. And there is one more method - listening to the music, it
    connects pleasure and learning.

  4. I like learning language by watching movies with English audio and if I have troubles with understanding the text I also set English subtitles on and it is much easier to notice contexts. Other way is to find someone from different country on Facebook and start chating, that is how I met Hugo from Spain 2 years ago. I also listen and sing, of course if nobody hears, English songs with lyrics.

  5. Honestly, I prefer learning langauges by watching TV series or playing games, but as I'm student each day I learn languages on lectures or using special books. The other way to learn languages, I think it would be listening radio stations or soundtracks by internet.

  6. I noticed that my english skills has improved since I started watching movies without polish subtitles. Now I have to use english every day. When I want to find some good explanations or valuable materials I have to look for them in english because there is higher probability that I will find them.
I used to learn German but I was never good at it. It was really difficult for me until I spent my holidays in Austria and my host family didn't speak english at all. I had to force myself to talk in Garman, at first it was tough but then I felt more confident so it was easier to speak.

  7. Learning new language requires lots of self-sacrifice. But it can be very interesting and exciting – if only we choose good method of learning foreign language. I prefer watching movies in English. My first approach to this kind of method was long time ago and I used subtitles – it was easier to understand unknown words. When it comes to great way of learning language, it cannot be denied that talking on skype with friends from another countries is not only interesting but also creative. The most common form of learning is attending to language school but you have to pay for it while you can find free of charge way. You can try to do it on your own. I like writing difficult words on a sheet of paper with explanation on reverse.

  8. Knowledge of the English language is absolutely necessary nowadays. I have always had difficulty with English so I tried many of theese examples. My favourite is watching TV series with english subtitles. It gave me a lot before my secondary school certificate. I also texted with my friend in english language for a long time and I think it was helpful for me.
But what I am finding really annoying are these sticky notes everywhere in my house. I don't think it's a good idea.

  10. I found that listening to music and watching shows is the best way to get comfortable with a language. Even if you don't learn a lot of new words, you get familiar with the pronunciation and the accent, and you get to do that while enjoying yourself.
Another way is reading books, but if you don't know the language very well yet, it might be a bit of a tedious task, since you have to constantly translate the vocabulary. You'll surely learn a lot from it though.
I mostly translate things between languages to make sure I remember the vocabulary, or watch shows in the language I want to learn.

  11. Acually i had the biggest improve in my english when i finished high school and i didn't have to study english anymore. Then i finally started to like that language, read more, watch movies without lector/dubbing - i started to choose subtitles and after some time sometimes i stopped using that too. I think the best way to learn language is not to do lot of borning grammar exercises but read a lot and watch movies and this is my way to do it.

  12. I really like this presentation because I have a big problem with my English and I don't have idea what I should do with this. Nowadays knowledge of English is the basis necessity. So I feel shame and an even greater blockade. Certainly I will try your great tips.
The most interesting for me are "Watch the TV in foreign language", "Change the language of the software on your devices" and "Do your shopping list in a new language". I will start with them.
Last I found nice website and I use there chat and talk with the foreigners, it is enjoyable experience for me.
I hope that one day my English will be good thanks to your gold advices.

  14. For me the best methode is talking with people in foreing language. People whose that is not a first language. I watch sitcoms and film in english, it's helpful even I don't understand everything. Changing language of the softwere it important too. We learn many profesional words. I don't like notes. Sticking theme everywhere it's annoying. Use you imagination, not notes. If we want to learn more, we need to imagine something conected with particular word. Of cours it's only my idea.

  15. In my opinion the best way to learn languages is using it even in the passive way. When I was in High School I've started to learn spanish just by myself. There is no spanish school in my region. That's why my "teacher" was not also a book, but also movies and latin american TV stations. Even now, when I speak to Spanish people, they say that I speak in the latin way, not in the real Iberian Peninsula dialect. I treat it as compliment. I practise this method also with English - TV series are the best teacher of idiomatic expressions and normal way of comunication.

  16. You can learn foreign languages by reading book. You'll see structures of language and learn words. It is visual and most of people remember something better by visual memory. As for me, I never had definite methods. It was a mix of methods, maybe it is even the best way - to mix all the methods. Cause then you'll develop understending, reading, spelling, grmma and others.

  17. This article provided some interesting ways to learn foreign languages. According to me, a good way of learning foreign languages is also watching foreign TV series, because it's good entertainment, plus you can learn vocabulary. I have to learn a foreign language abroad I watch TV and read foreign language books.

  18. If someone want to learn new language it's good to watch films and read books in this language! In my opinion reading books is even better, because you can remember new words by looking on them. Also singing could improve your language skills.
I have always looked for new ideas how to learn "grammar" the easiest way. For me the best option is practice all the time, so it's boring but effective.

  19. All these methods of learning new languages are really great, I think. I haven't tried all of them but I guess that these not tried by me yet are as good as these I know. I always prefer to watch tv in English, because the translations aren't mostly good enough (they mean something different). The first thing I always do when I get a new phone is changing language. I really like talking to my friends from another countries. I also like reading looks, articles and blogs in foreign languages. It helps to know the spelling better. But also audiobooks are great option to know the language better.

  20. Almost everything is in presentation. The only thing I can add is reading in foreign language: you can start with child books and reading more advanced later. In English there are books recommended for particular levels. Oh, and making translations in fansub groups. I practice my English translating anime series and song inspired by Tou Hou games.
I like to watch TV series and listen to actors. Usually I have polish subtitles but if show isn’t to difficult and I can find English subs I use them. I really like music and I often check lyrics what makes me know new words.

  21. I don't know about you but for me a very good way to learn a new language for me is playing computer games. There you can learn a lot of returns. Another equally good way may be e.g watching movies or TV series in another language. You can easily absorb the useful words. In addition, it is good to have a friend from abroad, because it is by talking face to face, you can learn a lot.

  22. It seems to me that I do not know more methods than those that have been mentioned. I've tried all of them. I like the first one the most. Watching movies and series in a different language allows me to develop my language skills, especially improving my speaking and listening. I also have my Facebook's home page opened in English. I also often use sticky notes and make shopping lists in a foreign language. I also had a few friends from abroad who I spoke in English via an internet chat. Currently, I often speak in a foreign language with a friend from the room.

  23. I prefer learning a new language by myself with my own methods. I've tried a few and I think I can recommend them to others. In my opinion the best method to learning at home is watching films, where people speak in language, which we want learn, with subtitles. It's a pleasure way, because we can watch movies or TV series, which are interesting for us. I love to do it during the holidays, because ’ve a lot of free time then. I've watched all the seasons of the series "Sex in a the city", “Younger” and “The girlfriend experience”.
Another method is listening songs in language, which we want to learn. Thanks to that we become better in pronunciation.
Playing computer games can be also a good way of learning. We should the language settings for the language which we want to learn. To be honest - for me it isn’t as good as other methods. Computer games are fore me leisure time entertainment... I don’t want to think about learning in this time… But I know some people, who do it, for example my boyfriend. He spends a lot of time playing games – some of them haven’t Polish version, so he must use English.

  24. I’m sure there are other methods, but now anything comes on my mind. I think everyone can have their own technique of learning. I really like watching movies in English or with English subtitle. Listening songs in English is nice too. I also talk with my foreign friends in English too. I have one more method. When I have to learn vocabulary for a test, I associate words with objects and this makes it easier for me to remember.

  25. I have heard about all of this methods and I have practise most of them too. Three years ago I was in Dublin for 1 mounth and after this trip I have occazion to talk with many diffrent people after words and i still have a contact with part of them. I have to admit that this gave me a lot if it comes for learning. But the biggest impact what may surprise you where parties that we went to with friends in Dublin. I also like to watch serials in a foreign language so I personaly think that's also a great idea.

  26. Each of mentioned method can be useful and helpful in learning foreign language. But I like the most some of them which I use very often. For example watching films in foreign language we can learn some new words, grammar and I think it helps in speaking. Sticky notes everywhere in your house also can be helpful. You can revise everyday just by looking on them. A good idea for me is also chatting with foreigners. You can not only improve your language skills but also you can meet some interesting people. I think everybody has some methods that are helpful and each of them is good if it works!

  27. I think that the ideas above are really useful. I believe that we should connect our hobbies and a new language. For example, when I was learning Spanish, I was reading in Spanish papers and books about the history of the Civil War and about actual politics in this country. I also like watching TV in English and Spanish, but mostly on the Internet. However, I don't use some of tips given above as creating a blog or making a shopping list in another language, but I believe that each of us has his/her own method of learning new things (not only foreign languages) which is the best for her/him.

  28. I tasted some of this method. And I think that for me the best way to learn foreign languages is watching films without lector but usually with subtitles (especially if I don't have contact with listening tasks for long time). Once I was used changing language of software on my phone, but I was annoyed when I was have to find any setting and I wasn't know how do it, because I wasn't know many of these words.
I never try doing shopping list in other language, but I think that this method could be really helpful. It is not too exigent, because we must know only single words not all of grammatical structure. In that we don't demotivate oneself so fast.
In my opinion trying several of presented method is worth it, because everybody can find your own, best method.

  29. Couple years ago I was using an app to learn new language. It was really useful, because everyday there were new words to learn, there was also pronunciation of them. I think ways recommended in this presentation can be really useful. Personally, when I want to learn new language, I watch as much films and series as I can, because this method is the most efficient for me. I learn expresions useful in everyday situations and pronunciation of lots of words. Talking with foreigners is also a great approach to learn new language. It forces you to use only foreign language (because otherwise your conversationalist won't understand you). I heard that playing video games in different language can be helpful, because nowadays games consist lots of words and expresions, which can be useful.

  30. I think that watching movies/series in different language is a really great way to learn not only new words and frazes, but also to capture the accent. First we can watch with polish subtitles, then English ones, and then without any subtitles. I truely recommend that.
When I need to remember lots of new words in different language, I create flashcards. It helps me more than anything else!
Talking with people from different country is also a great method, I absolutely agree. You can hear lots of accents and wordings.

  31. Interesting and useful tips. I know a lot of people who improved their English by watching series or films with no subtitles. Many of my friends change the main language of their devices but on your mobile you often do things automatically so the range of words you will learn is limited. I find sticky notes as a very nice and fun idea to learn. Creating a blog in other language may be a great soultion too. You will learn about things that interest you and also know the vocabulary in a specified area. If I can give you a piece of advice on learning different language, I would recommend every parent to enrol their small kids (aged even 5) in language classes, preferably for individual ones. Children absorb knowledge quickly and having contact with foreign language from the youngest age will ease their education in the future.

  32. Tips presented on the blog seem like useful ones. Other method I would recommend would be reading books in foreign languages and in general doing things that make you happy. For example if you have your fave music album in the language that you want to learn, translate every song to your language. If you are interested in make up watch some youtube tutorials in foreign languages. Learning language through expending your knowledge about your hobbies will be the easiest way of to learn them. You will have pleasure for yourself and get to know some new words.

Like i mentioned earlier I read in foreign languages, I watch tv show and movies with foreign subtitles and watch some youtube videos with the content that seems interesting to me. I try to use foreign languages as much as I can, on every occasion.

  33. I definetly believe that the best method of learning language is talking and having conversation especially with people from other countries. This way is the most active and effective in my mind. Anyway, that is the clue of learning foreign language- communication with people from other countries.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The thing that I would add to this list is reading books in foreign language. It works on a similar principle as watching TV series, but without learning pronunciation of many, often new words or phrases. I thing that this is good option, for example, when we can't use mobile, to watch something, but we can take a book and read - maybe at work, when the boss is not looking?
What am I doing to practise my language skills? My favourite methods are watching films and reading in new language. Even if I don't understand something, I'm guessing from the context and I personally think, that this is the easiest and nicest way.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Those methods are not that good as you can think and what's most importnant they are not sorted by how good you are in that language. If you want to learn NEW language, TV or talking with friends won't help you, because you will probably make a lot of mistakes, and then remember incorrect phrases or something, so... There are better ways to learn new language.

  37. I love learning foreign languages by watching movies or listening to the music. It is a pleasure, not a hard work. I think my brain really enjoys that. I was also trying to write a blog in foreign language, but I was too scared that there could be a mistake in a text, so I gave up.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
