Extreme Sports

These are sports, which practicing is associated with a higher risk than in other disciplines. Typically require extraordinary physical or mental ability, and adequate preparation. This kind of sport you can divide on two types:
-extreme sports-
considered to be sports, in which the practice requires extraordinary skill, courage and action in conditions of high-risk, often life-threatening e.g. bungee jump, motocross, mountain biking etc.
-high risk sports e.g. ski jumping, snowboarding, martial arts, surfing, rafting etc.

If it’s so dangerous why people practice these kinds of sports? Well, some people just need adrenaline. Sport deprived of adrenaline can be boring for them, they need something exciting which will make their heart beat faster and faster. Also practicing this kind of sport can make them famous. Also extreme sports offer an opportunity to challenge and express yourself. Playing football with friends isn’t achievement comparing to mountain climbing for example. Lets take a look on a Wanda Rutkiewicz (great himalayan). A lot of people admire what she did, because most of us wouldn’t be able to achieve something like that.

People are amazing!!

You might consider if extreme sports are very harmful. Motocross and base jumping are the exceptions but rate of injury for many other extreme sports is quite low.  A British Journal of Sports Medicine study reported only 139 skateboard injuries over four years. It’s not much, is it?  Snowboarding injury rate was even lower. It was fewer than four injuries for every 1000 snowboarders. Most of them occurred during fail trick attempts.

If you would like to watch some extreme sports contest, I recommend you well known Extreme Sports Channel. There are a lot of different really dangerous tricks made by professional people. Some of them are really breathtaking and it’s fun to see something like that.

Now some questions for you:
Have you ever practiced any extreme sport?
Would you take the risk of practicing it regularly?
What do you think about people taking risk everyday to do this kind of sport?

  1. I haven't practiced any extreme sport and I would not take the risk of practicing it regularly. I admire people who are doing that because they are pushing their boundaries and showing us that really "sky is the limit". But practicing this sports means that you know you are at high risk of destroying your health all the time and you should know where are your limits and that there are some more important things that you can do when your body tells you to stop. I prefer some not extreme sports like fitness and dance but on the other hand, as it is written in this presentation, maybe it is even easier to be injured while dancing than snowboarding?

  2. When I was 5 years old I climbed a tree and didn't know how to get down. It was the last time when I have practised any extreme sports. I wouldn't take a risk to practise some extreme sport regulary but the cause is not just my common sense but essentially laziness. Most of extreme sports require huge physical fitness which has to be achive durning normal sports activity. I think that people who taking risk to do this kind of sport have just bigger demand for adrenaline. I would to like to say "it is their own life they may do what they want" but when I think about fear wich has to accompany their relatives durning their activity I can't agree with this liberal attitude. It is significant irresponsible especially when those sportsmen has own children.

  3. I have never practiced any extreme sports. It's not for me. I think my heart will stop beat when I would ride a bike from mountains. I prefer watch this kind of videos at home. I really like it. I have watched it from time to time. I admire this people. For me they do impossible things. In the future I want to be a photographer and take a pictures this people in action. I know extreme sports is dangerous but people take risk on my own. I think if they love it they should do it.

  5. When I was in high school I uesd to skate. But I wouldn't call it dangerous in the broadest meaning of the word, even though skatebording is consider as one of the extrame sports. I'm not gonna do any extream things like bungee nor parachute jumping in the near future. I don't feel lilke I need this sort of advantures. I guess that certain types of people need to feel an adrenaline rush more often then others. That urge drives them to doing somethig extream.

  6. I have never practiced any extreme sports and I don't feel a need of risk at all. I really don't understand people which do different extreme things regulary and can't live without it. I can't understand why they want to do it. Do they really understand the amout of risk on which they agreed? Do they understand that they can hurt themself so hard, that they will have problems with staying alive, not talking about doing any sport? I'm not sure that they are thinking about it, when they decide on such things. I don't understand their motivation. Maybe if I had friends who do extreme sports, I would be interested in it and would say something concrete about it. But I don't have such friends :)

  7. A few years ago I was riding on a skateboard. I was good at it and I really liked it. Extreme Sports was my favorite channel, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was my favorite game and my favorite skater was Rodney Mullen - rider who invented a lot of super freaky and great tricks and many of the basic like the kick flip.
But when I was riding I was not in danger. For sure I would never go downhill in some dangerous and rocky terrain on BMX or something like that. But I know that there are people who would pay for such a dose of adrenaline and I think it's cool. I admire them.
They are aware of the potential consequences but in this situation are not only athletes but also policemen or fishermen. They know the risk but the're doing it anyway. For a lot of people extreme sports is a job too.

  8. I have never practiced any extreme sport. I am too cautious and I prefer sports, which not involve risking my life. I am not sure if I would be able to try it once, so practicing it regularly it’s impossible in my case.
It's their life. They can do whatever they want. Some people just need adrenaline.

I' ve tried parachuting and it was an experience that will stuck in your head for whole your life. I've never felt like this before, never felt so much happiness and adrenaline. Extreme sports are definitely worth trying.
Would you take the risk of practicing it regularly?
I guess that if I did it more often it would be so exciting anymore, but I would like to try it again someday.
What do you think about people taking risk everyday to do this kind of sport?
As I said before, such sports make you forget about all your problems, you are free, it's really hard to decribe this feeling to someone who never felt it before. JUST TRY IT!

  10. I've never tried any extreme sports, but I would like to do some e.g. parachuting. It seems to be really fun and gives you an adrenaline rush. If I would like some of these sports I think I could start practising it often. It's a great thing to feel this adrenaline. It makes you feel young and strong.

  11. When I was younger I was really absorbed by skateboarding. I was spending a lot of spare time on trying new tricks and finding new places to ride, but I also had some contusions. One of them was too strong and I had to finish my life as a skateboarder. But I would not say that skateboarding is an extreme sport. Of course it is dangereous and every time you want to do the trick, You are taking the risk of contusion, but all in all it's not such extreme sport like parachuting for example. I have a lot of resect to people who regardless of the risk are going ahead to get a success.

Ooo yes have. Drinking with Russians. Unfortunetly they have won and i`ve had extemally hangover. ;) and now seriously - I don`t. I`m not interested in these type of sport.
Would you take the risk of practicing it regularly?
No. As I told I`m not interested in. I don`t need to an adrenaline shot to live. It`s not my cup of tea.
What do you think about people taking risk everyday to do this kind of sport?
I think that they do what they want to do. If somebody want to slide down the steep slope on bike or snowboard(in winter) I wouldn`t stop him. He have brain too, right? I`m neutral - they do something dangerous(which is bad) but if they did that is`t nice to see the effect.

    No I'm not
Would you take the risk of practicing it regularly?
No, I am afraid to watch horror movies and driving car with my sister and I thik that I'm that kind of person who would never take such risk.
What do you think about people taking risk everyday to do this kind of sport?
I think that they are crazy but if it bring them joy it is okay.

  14. 1.I don't if it's really extreme sport, but I have practised windsurfing for a few years. It brings me lots of emotions and adrenaline.
Would you take the risk of practicing it regularly?
I think that if I practised it regularly,I wouldn't feel that excitement, because I could be accustomed with that.
3.I think that it's very dangerous, but they are profesionalists and they tried to do everything the best as they could to feel safety. They must be accustomed with that feeling or maybe even addicted to it.

What do you think about people taking risk everyday to do this kind of sport?
I think i haven't practiced such extreme sport, maybe only sometimes mountain trekking and spelaeologist once.
I know I seldom go in the mountains but I will try change this, because for me it's very exciting. Human see and feel beauty of nature and feel freedom, which can give us mountains.
People who practice extreme sports treat them like important part of their life. On the other hand it can be looks like something stupid or irresponsible, but for them it's like oxygen.

  16. Yeah, I have. I practiced snowboarding without a helmet. Won't tell you the story and won't recommend.
No! Even if I got the helmet.
As you said in the presentation - the risk rates are not so high, so I'm sure it's better for people to take risk of extreme sports than to take it from smoking and drugs.

  17. I have never practiced any extreme sports but I would like to try bungee jump. It's my secret dream, and I hope that someday I will have the courage to realize it. I think that practicing extreme sports can be addictive and people who practice it just can’t break away from that, because it gives them a kind of freedom, adrenaline, all kinds of emotions. I think that people taking risk everyday to do this kind of sport are very brave and I admire them very much. I envy them also that they are able to fight fears, concerns, and in addition they win.

  18. Unfortunately, I have never tired any extreme sports, pass over snowboarding, which I dont really think is extreme.(I mean my ride is definetly no extreme) I just dont enjoy that crazy and sometimes dangerous sports. I'm afraid of any injuries, and I think this is the main fance. I doubt it, to do it regurally, just because I'm really injury person. I reckon that this people are really brave and they really have to love it and enjoy. Skateborading, bmx tricks looks awesome, but when I'm thinking how many pracitise it cost, i admire that people.

  19. I’ve never practised any extreme sport and I’m not sure I would try. I tried once skiing and now I know that I wasn’t born to do that. And any similar kind of sport. I just don’t enjoy it, I’m scared about my life, I can see only doomsday scenario. And I do enjoy my life, absolutely, but without taking risk :D However, I admire people who taking risk to do that. I can’t imagine myself in their position but things they do are quite astonished.

  20. I have never tried any extreme sports. It isn't good idea for me. I don't like dangerous things because I am really responsible person. Unfortunately I afraid of everything so it would be difficult for me to do these kind of sport. But I like watch these sports on TV and I admire people who do it. It is really fantastic that some of people like risk life to feel some adrenaline. I've known people who do extreme sports and they told me that sometimes it can be really dangerous but they couldn't resign it. I don't understand them.

  21. Personally, I prefer team sports and I am also a person who doesn't like to take too much risk so I think that extreme sports are not my thing. However, I can say that I had the opportunity to try this sport, if you can define it as a extreme sport but I think so. It was a so-called "stunt" on a scooter with my boyfriend, you know - riding on one wheel, for example. Of course, I was always just a passenger, and my only job was to hold tight ;). The first time was the worst and I still remember my scream but then I was no longer afraid. I think that people who practice extreme sports have to be very brave and they must like adrenaline. In my opinion it liberates themselves and it allows them to detach from reality.

  22. Have you ever practiced any extreme sport?
I have never practiced any extreme sport, I was only jumping on a bungee two years ago. I prefer other ways of spending my free time but I like sometimes feel some adrenalin so bungee was an unusual experience for me. I don't regret it. It was also really funny because during this jump I have lost my shoe. :)
Would you take the risk of practicing it regularly?
I think that practicing it regularly is possible when I would have more time. We may learn everything and if it is our passion - why not? It depends on character because it requires a lot of courage.
What do you think about people taking risk everyday to do this kind of sport?
In my opinion, they are unique because it isn't usual sport as football for example and only small group of people may do it. They should continue it and remember that it requires a special caution.

  24. I have never practiced any extreme sport and I cannot imagine myself practicing it regularly. Even I can't force myself to practise any other 'normal' sports. However, I can imagine why people do that- for example for a little adrenalin shot and it is easy to become addicted to this type of sport. It's really admirable and if I had more time, I promise I would try it!

  25. I have never practised any extreme sports and it probably would never change. I guess I'm not a type of person who likes danger and needs to feel adrenaline rising in their blood from time to time. Sports that I like are usually very calm and relaxing but I can imagine that someone needs the exact opposite. There is nothing wrong with taking risk of practising extreme sports every day when you are young but the risks of injury may increase with your age. If there is an extreme sport that makes you feel alive and happy then go on and practise it as often as you like, but always remember about protecting yourself as much as you can and being cautious.

  28. I am practising extreme sport called freeski. It is like normal riding on skis, but not like in the slalom gigant, but rather jumping, grinding and riding offroad. I really enjoy riding offroad on fresh snow, it is really amazing. You can choose your own way to ride, noone tells you where to ride. I do it only few times in year, becouse i don't have time for going to Alps. I have never considered myself as some pro. For me it is hobby. I think people who do it everyday and taking a risk need to do this, becouse they need a lot of adrenaline for living. I really admire them for what are they doing.

  29. To be honest just one truly extreme - alpinism - and I am absolutely mad about it. The risk appears but it is still sport, not suicide. I tried do it regullary but unfortunately it is quite expensive especially if we are talking about professional equipment which is absolutely necessary in high mountains. Talking that sort of risk every week could be something too big for me. However I understand that there are peoples addicted to adrenaline.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
