 EYE CARE

Eyes provide a man most information about the world. It is very important to take care of them to be effective as long as possible.
According to research there are in the world about  six billion people visually impaired. The most common defect of vision is myopia (shortsightedness), there are about two billion people who have that. It is estimated that only 40% of people have corrected vision defect. In addition there are numerous eye diseases due to lack of hygiene, the number of people who care about their vision is very small. Proportion of visually impaired people increases with age, it also depends on the level of technological development of the country and where people live whether it is a village or city.

Impact on the development of defects and eye diseases are genetic and environmental factors like a wrong wear glasses, long-term eye strain, lack of physical activity and hygiene, improper diet.

Wrong wear glasses cause adaptation of the eyes to glasses.  This is due to that the eye tries to get the best image. Usually, the eye increase its length, unfortunately this process is not reversible, even by a suitable correction. It is very important to visit ophthalmologist or optometrist to exact eye tests. Modern eyeglass lenses can stop development of vision defect. Shameful is to buy glasses in the store without prior sight-testing. Unfortunately, many people do that, especially in old age.

Numerous studies indicate that the more people who work every day at close distance have more problem with their eyes. People who live in the countryside do not perform work connected with the effort of the eyes, statistics confirm their smaller vision problems. Researchers found that development of vision does not depend on the length of working only on its intensity. Very important is adequate distance of working especially working with computer and books. We also should take breaks when feel tired.

It was found that slowing effect on eyes problems have physical activity in the open air in daylight. Playing sports improves blood circulation in our eyes. Daylight causes that pupils size are smaller and visual acuity higher.

Information above concentrated mainly about defect of vision. To avoid any eyes diseases we should take care of hygiene and apply proper diet. It is obvious that we should wash our eyes, enough to do that is heat water. Our diet should contains a lot of vitamins. Necessary for the proper functioning of eyes are vitamins: A, C, E, B1, B2, B6, B12 and other components such as: folic acid, pantothenic acid and biotin. Proper diet significantly reduces the risk of morbidity for various diseases especially for cataract.

To sum up, eye care does not require any special sacrifices. If we follow tips above, we will have healthy sight for a long time.

  1. I agree that eyes provide us most information about the world and that's why we should take care of them. We should follow some tips, take some vitamins and do sports to keep our eyes healthy. There are some eye diseases connected with trauma, infection and cancer. They can be treated conseratively or surgically. Nowadays there are a lot of antibiotics which help our eyes to recuperate. Also our work has effect on our eyes. It doesn't depend on the length, but on its intensity, as you said. We spend a lot of time in front of the computer. We should remember to take some rest and look at something else than screen. Also really bright colors make our eyes more exhausted. Our eyes rest when we are looking at nature.
If it is possible and eye diseases are not so seriuos, incurable or inborn we should protect our eyes at all costs. We should visit oculist regularly if we have some more serious problems. We should know that everything is good and our glasses are still appropriate for us.

  2. Of course diet and making sports can help us to have healthy eyes but it's not so easy for everybody. Sometimes it's more like genetic problem and there isn't much we can do. We have bad eyesight not because inproper diet or the lack of exercises. It's like with old people. They have problem with eyes because it happens independently on them. What to do?
We can try to keep our eyes to be halhy. But there's no guarantee everything will be ok. But the chanses are bigger.
And the problem of people who buy glasses for themselves without doctors advice. Very irresponsible. They seem not to know they can actually hurt their eyes.
People not always know what is good for them and they think they can be a doctor for themselves. Not very good idea.

    1. I totally agree with that not everybody can take care of their eyes. There are many problems with eyes from genetic reasons and many people have congenital defects in vision. In this case diet and physical activity don’t help. It remains surgery and rehabilitation or in some cases even medicine can not help. Of course old people have problem with eyes independently on them unfortunately that awaits all of us but thanks to caring of our eyes we can see proper for longer time.

  3. I think that the main problem with eyes is caused by our daily contact with a computer. A lot of people must work with computer and distance between our eyes and a monitor is to short. Because of it we have often tired eyes and in the future have often visual defects.
I have similar situation- I spend a lot of time with computer and my eyes are tired almost every day. I try to do some break once in a hour, but it isn’t helpful for a longest time. In my opinion, a monitor with a small brightness level is a good idea for changing this situation.

  4. I consider eyes as the most important human sense. Personally I can't imagine losing it. So the right care is very important! Unfortunately I agree that it's mostly our genes that decide about our eyes condition. For example - in my family everyone except me wear glasses. But although there's not much we can do we still can take care of our eyes. Of course healthy diet is a good tip but we also should change our habits. Like spend less time in front of computer and don't read books without enough light. So in order to avoid wearing glasses we just have to take care of ourselves!

  5. It is obvious that eyes are very useful in our life. That’s why we should protect them all the time. We should clean them, keep in a hygiene, not contaminate by our hands and also admit to relax. We use them the whole day and it’s a big effort, that’s why eyes need repose-good solution is go outside for example to the park, somewhere where it’s a big space. We can also should due a healthy diet and carry many necessary vitamins which control many functions in our eyes.

  6. We have only one pair of eyes and as says your article we should take a good care of them. If we do then they will be serving us for a long time. Sadly people often get aware that they should pay more attention to their eyes, when something is wrong with them. And we actually injure them daily. Computers, TV are just one of many components of hurting our eyes. Every part of our body needs care, It’s time to think about our eyes!

  7. Eye Care

In modern world, increasing threat to the eye, because We exploit the eyes more intensive then in XIX . We work every day with computers, we are watching TV more the 10 years ago. the technology is the biggest danger for our eyes. People forget about glasses they are protect your eyes. A lot of people haven’t got a many for buy it, we must create government’s programs for that group of people.

  8. I agree with your thesis that "eyes provide a man most information about the world". Many people do not realize how many factors affect our eyesight. Most people in no way takes care of their eyes. And the eyes, as well as the heart or lungs are an organ of our body and we should care about them. Many people do not realize that the sport and diet affect not only our physical condition, but virtually every organ of our body. Taking care of eyes is not that hard, just to eat healthy food, take care of your physical condition, do not exhaust the eyes. It is also important to examine your eyes from time to time and, if necessary, use the appropriate glasses rather than those bought in a pharmacy or a drugstore. You do not need much to make your eyes remain healthy longer.

  9. I remember my mother when she said: „yes, you can play on computer, but only for 2 hours”. Today I spend 8-9 hours on computer in my job, and another 2-3 hours to prepare to classes or do something else. These amounts have catastrophic influence on my eyes, but I can’t avoid it. And I’m afraid vitamins and carrots won’t be enough… Nowadays lots of people, in my opinion, have similar problems.

  10. I don't spend a lot of time in front of the computer, but if I sit more then normaly, I have itchy eyes. My brothers are computer scientist and they spend all days since many years working on a computer and they don't have problems with eyes. We can take care about our eyes, but a lot of diseases are genetic and we don't have influence for this.

  11. To me, the biggest threat to our eyes is prolonged TV watching, spend a long time on the computer, reading at badly lighted place. When I am staying longer in a place where someone frying food in oil or in a smoky place, my eyes immediately begin to weep. To our eyes were healthy we should not overwork them. Not long stare at the monitor, eat a healthy food, stay in the fresh air. I can not imagine the day in which I had to wake up and no see the beauty of nature power, my family, the sun. I'M Very sorry about the people who lost their sight. I admire those people who, despite that thy don't see, they didn't give up and try to lead "normal" lives.

  12. Definitely the sense of sight is the most important in human live. Personaly I'm trying to avoid spending to many hours in front of computer or TV, but sometimes it is realy hard. Nowadays people using computer not only for entertaimnet but to work, and in my opinion this is problem, working many hours on computer spoil our eyes. I never wear glasses but if in my future work I will be obligated to spend many time working with computer, I think wearing glasses will be unavoidable.

  13. I agree that proper eye care is very important.
Today, we do not pay much attention to this, but we feel the evil effects of a dozen or so years ago, when our eyes will become weak and we had to wear glasses with denkami from the jar instead of glass, and in order to read something up close will also use a magnifying glass. (This is not funny, it's true. I witnessed such an incident with a lady about 60 years).
now much more than ever we are exposed to problems with the eyes, because abuse of the computer and the TV. Looking at the monitors blink less frequently resulting in dry eyes.
Even a small effort, we can gain a lot of our healthy sight for years.
However, it is reassuring that medicine goes to the front and now we can improve some of the laser-vision defects.

  14. I also agree that eyes are important parts of our body, although I can't say that I take care of them. All these methods listed in the presentation are easy, but I really can't follow these rules, no matter how simple would they be. I'm afraid that my eyes are already written-off - During my regular day at the university, I use my eyes for looking on objects that are more than 1 meter away from me only when I'm in the bus and I look out of the window (sometimes someone blocks my view and I can't do even that). The rest of the day I spend reading books or doing something on the computer, rarely I try to look at the blackboard, just to find out once again that I don't see anything on it.

  15. This is very informative, thank you. I keep forgetting to go to a checup visit to my optometrist, so I will keep it as reminder :).
All what was said I could call as very good tips for proper eyesight care. But, they are impossible to full use them. There is no way to study anything while following said rules. Not to mention, they contradict the 'proper way to sit in front of computer' ;). Eyes or posture... it really should not be a dilema :P.
Regardless, I enjoy good guidelines everyday.

  16. I'll start that I have "eye defect". I have -3,5 in my both eyes and I have to say it's nothing pleasant. Every day I need to wear a contact lenses what is annoying. Unfortunately I have a deep resistance to carreing my eyes and I don't know why. Always I read a book or a magazine in my bed in poor light. When I use a computer I use it wrong because i can't adjust the brightness and angle of screen. I have to change my bad habits. My eyes want it.

  17. When I see how many people have sic eyes I dare say, that vitamins and psyhical activity isn't enough to have healty eyes. Our eye disease may be caused by genetic diseases, not only bad habits. Good habits can improve the condition of your eyes, but do not prevent the disease.
I agree that any doubts about the eye condition and selection of glasses must be consulted with a doctor.

  18. Almost all young people do not take care about your eyes. They are thinking that is normal that they are young so they have properly sight, but they are wrong. We don't really know that proper vision it is depend of so many factors. We should adapt to them to protect our eyes from various disease.

  19. I am very happy because at the moment I have no problem with eyes. I can’t even imagine how it is like to have visually impaired, near sightedness, far-sightedness or another eyes disease. My good friend has a squint and he had surgery for this defect. It helps him a bit. He and his sister were in the kindergarten for children with eye and vision defects. He was telling a story that sometimes his mother was hitchhike a car to get there from their village with two children with patch on eyes and glasses. They look very poor on the road.
I many defects surgery is the only effective treatment. When I think about it is little bit scary but it is great that we have this possibility.

  20. I have problem with my eyes myself (I have cataracts and probably there's a surgery waiting for me) so I know how important it is to keep them "in good shape". Good eye-sight is also very important because it provides us more or less 80% of information from the world which surrounds us. But in our ages of TVs, computers, cinemas, smartphones it's hardly manageable to keep your eye-sight clear because we spend most of our free time (and many also work time) right in front of these things.

  21. Good presentation! I know the problem with vision. I work a lot with a computer and my vision is getting worse, I have problems with sharpness, I am often sleepy. I am 21 years old and I have problems with my eyes! It's terrible and it's all computer's and television's fault, young people spend too much time in front of the monitors. Recently I try to limit it, because I'm afraid that soon I will have to wear glasses: (

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
