The grass is always greener on the other side of fence

The grass is always greener on the other side of fence
Almost everyone likes to travel. During the holidays or just for a weekend. After the holidays, we upload  the photos which show exotic countries, breathtaking views and outstanding monuments. All those pictures are made in France, Spain, Croatia, China. In fact, the further, the better. Because, who will be interested in Poland?
Of course it is comprehensible that we prefer foreign countries. Very often they can offer us things or places which we wouldn’t be able to see in Poland. Traveling abroad gives us an opportunity to taste completely different cuisine and  to familiarize with unusual customs. We also enjoy climate and historic architecture of others countries.
But does it mean that Poland is less attractive, that we have to go abroad to be fully pleased with the holidays? Or maybe there is some truth in the proverb the grass is always greener on the other side of fence?
For example, did you know that in Poland, in Srebrna Góra there is the biggest defensive stronghold in Europe? Even Napoleon himself couldn’t conquer it.

Not far away from that city, in Jawor and Świdnica we can admire Churches of Peace, beautiful churches with incredible history - after the Thirty Years’ War the protestants were permitted to build the temples, but on condition that it will be built in one year, only from sand, clay and wood ( with no nails). And they succeeded.

And how many of you have visited stronghold in Modlin, which is so close to Warsaw?

And those are only a few examples. Maybe we are just a bit too lazy to find an interesting place in Poland?

  1. Very nice presentation :) I totally agree with the author, people don't appreciate what they have. Poland is a beautiful country with many hidden treasures. Personally I love Polish landscapes, forests and lakes. Also my favourite places in the world are in Poland, not anywhere else :)

    1. I agree with you and with the author. Poland is really beautiful country - we have there almost all - sea, lakes, mountains. There are many places which we have no idea that there are, and which are worth seeing. People travel abroad and are delighted because of views, which do not miss in our country. I wish to see every interesting places in Poland and then I would say about them tourists, because is miserably that I didn't see many beautiful places in my own country.

  2. I agree with the author and Katarzyna too. I love Poland landscapes especially mountains and lakes. Every year I try to go there. For example this year I took my friends to the Harenda near Zakopane and I took their on Kasprowy Wierch. It was hard climbing for them but they didn't regret because the views was incredibly beautiful. Now they want to go there one more time and climb to another peaks. We shouldn't forget how amazing is our country.

  4. I totally agree with you. I love polish mountains especially Tatras. I know this mountain chain like the back of my hand. I prefer preparing holiday on my own. But most of us prefer a package holiday. Why? First of all we save our money - If you try to book everything, starting from airfare to hotel room on your own, you will spend more money than you will buy a trip at the travel agency. The second reason why a holiday package is better is zero headache and we should remember that package holiday is „complete tour”. In my opinion we should remember how beatiful is our country.

  5. It is so true! We can said where we have been and what we have seen abroad to be more interestin for other people, but we can find a lot of beautiful place in Poland too! I like mountains, like Marta, very much. I think, that views are breathtaking, especially the rising sun.
In my opinion, everyone can find something for themselves in Poland. We have mountains, lakes, sea, forests, interesting cities! It give us a lot of ways to spend our holidays in our country.

  6. There are so many places worth to visit in Poland. Our country has everything: mountains, lakes, sea with beautiful, sandy beaches. It doesn't mean that we should resign from going abroad, but we ought to appreciate values of Poland. For example, we can experience touch of wildlife and undisturbed tranquility in Białowieża Forest, in which is able to find last pieces of primary forest. If someone wants to spend time in different ambience, cities like Wrocław, Krakow, Gdańsk, Warsaw seem to be good option.

  7. I'd say it's a normal thing. Some iconic places from the whole world are shown to us from the beginning (i.e. how many of you do not know about Eiffel's Tower or Giza's Pyramids?), and there's a little room left for educating young people about Poland. It's exotic to us in some way - and I think we all should do our best to rediscover beauties of our country. (;

  8. It's true, we have so many interesting places in Poland! Interesting and beautiful... sometimes hidden in the middle of the forest. ;) This year I spent my holidays in Mazury. This calm and silence - unbelievable. Let's appreciate what we have!

  9. Compared to travelling around foreign countries, journeys around Poland are much cheaper. And Polish people have expanded gene of comparing. What's so special in Modlin, Jawor or Świdnica if a typical Kowalski can also afford for such kind of trip. Polish like to show off, Kraków? Yes, beautiful city, but our neighbor won't be jealous. But when we spend a lot of money for holidays in Thailand, U.S.A, India, or other exotic place, others will respect us. This kind of thinking is in my opinion very shallow, but every year i meet more, and more people thinking this way.
Going on vacations abroad isn't a bad thing, because like wrote an author of this post "... they can offer us things or places which we wouldn’t be able to see in Poland. Traveling abroad gives us an opportunity to taste completely different cuisine and to familiarize with unusual customs. We also enjoy climate and historic architecture of others countries.", but I think that befor we will decided to see other's culture and history we have to know ours :)

  10. Congratuation to the auhor! I definitely agree with you! Poland is really beautifull state. We have many monuments for example: Castle in Malbork, Hall in Kraków. Moreover we have old churches f.g. Chapel Saint John in Dolina Chochołowska- there the famous Janosik married Maryna’s. Accurate is saying: Others praise, yours you don’t know. So, maybe this is the best time to embark on a remarkable journey through the wonderful parts of our country. To be able to say that we have a real treasurers- Beautiful Country

  11. Poland is a beautiful country and I am really happy that I was born here. It is not a big country but we have high mountains, see, lakes, rivers and forests. Not every country has these all treasures but we still underestimate it. We like southern areas, like Croatia or Greece but would we be able to live there full-time? I would not.

  12. The sentence "The grass is always greener on the other side of fence" is suited to describe polish people. They are known for being persistently dissatisfied. It's sad because they have no reason to complain about. Actually, we should be proud of every magical place, found going through Poland: see, lakes, mountains, beautiful city(Warszawa, Toruń, Gdańsk and capital of polish capital of culture Kraków) and great monuments(the effect of our turbulent history) Tourist from all around the world are impressed and envy us each of them. I believe Pole should start their travel adventure from their homeland.

  14. I agree with author and the others here. In Poland there are some places which everyone should see. Especially places with history and full of culture aspects. For example, Wawel Royal Castle in Cracow or Aushwitz concentration camp in Oswiecim. Unfortunately, most of Polish citizens think that there's nothing to see in Poland. Especially young people, but numbers don't lie. Each year, thousands of tourists come to Poland to understand our culture and admire our country. I think it's not a bad thing and we should appreciate this phenomenon.

  15. Polish people are very querulous nation. They don't appreciate what they have. I agree with each of here. Poland is beautiful. You only need to look around. I live near Masuria landscape. There is a beautiful place. We don't take into account that in Poland we have everything. I mean mountains, sea, lakes and river. In many countries you have only one thing from this list. Also Poland have interesting history and thanks to this we have many historical monuments for example castles. So let's find positives in Poland.

  16. I think this text in not only about polish people , but generally about all of the nations. It is comon for a man to prefer something, what one does not have, something different. But in my opinion it is very important to learn to appreciate what you have and where you live. On the other hand, Poland is a beatiful country with a fascinating history, and there are many place, whcich are worth seeing.

  18. In my opinion you're right, but not in all. Poland is beautiful, but your give inappropriate examples. Why you're saying about interesting places and you're giving pictures of ruins for example. It's not weird that people go away for a holidays. The world is more interesting than our casual backyard. We everyday have Poland and when we want to get a little rest we must go as far and as exotic as possible. Poland is pretty and gallant, but reason is different. No stones and ruins, churches and other very old buildings are magnificent. We have impressive history, art and inspiring nature. Our country emit some kind of energy and magic and that's why we love him and that's why Poland is a very nice place to live and to be polish. Not ruins! Ruins are ugly. Sorry...

  19. I see the author's point, but I'm afraid I do not agree with it. To be honest, I don't think that the Polish still believe their country is boring or not worth seeing. On the contrary, more and more Polish people are spending holidays in their homeland and they are not ashamed of it. Moreover, there is nothing wrong about going abroad. I think that the Poles spend their holidays in other countries just because they are curious. They want to see the rest of the world. It has nothing to do with being ashamed of your own country or with belief that Poland is less atractive. Poland is as picturesque as other countries and I really do believe, that the majority of my fellow citizens is aware of this fact.

  20. The sentence “the grass is always greener on the other side of fence” accurately describes polish mentality. It is said that some people are more pleased when they have an opportunity to have a rest in foreign countries. They are looking for “something special” in their life. Their native country is believed to be too normal and too obvious to ensure them delight looking on the beauty of surroundings. That’s why foreign countries are more appreciated. Poles are known by being frequently dissatisfied of everything which is related to their country. They underestimate charming polish culture, original and beautiful language, breathtaking landscape full of rich soils or the sound of calm sea. A smell of blissful forests, the mountain tops covered by fluffy powder, some deep lakes situated in the lake district, clear streams - these are unforgettable views and valuable treasures which can be visited in Poland. From South to North and East and West it's possible to find attractive place for rest, peace or entertainment. For active people it is recommended to spend time close to nature in Tatra Mountains. Sandy beaches of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia are said to be the best choice for people who loves sunbathing and festivals. A fanatic of historical curiosity may be fascinated by old cities like Krakow, Poznan or Wroclaw. It might be a memorable journey to the heart of Poland. It is so blissful that some pilgrims and tourists from all the world are enchanted by the beauty of Polish nature and monuments. Each year Poland hosts some foreign people who are full of admire for polish culture. Maybe we should open our heart on accepting places surrounding us? In Poland there are some interesting places joined with valuable history. Poland is all what we need to feel happiness. Just believe it and try to find a suitable place for some interesting entertainment. You won’t regret it!

  21. I can’t really tell anything about color of grass abroad, because I’ve never been there ;). I only saw views of other countries in photographs. I’ve never been intrested in tavelling because I think it’s problematic and I am rather fan of sitting in home all year. I don’t understand all those folks who jump itho train for few hours long trip – why? Why not stay in bed and eat snacks instead? Watch some silly show on the internet than go to country with extraordinary high temeratures?
I can’t disagree with Kasia Kapała about Polish mentality – we just have it too deep in our nature to complain about everything around to don’t think that other people has better car, house or even grass. Or so we are seen by other nations (as we can see in short videos on youtube for example).

  23. I think we don't appreciate our country. Fact that in Poland we have access the sea, beautiful mouintain chains and also amazing lakes is unique and valuable. We should more often look around and notice that apparently an ordinary building or a little street hides an amazing story. At least in Poland we have 14 objects which appear on UNESCO list.

  24. While I overall agree with the point of view the author is trying to present, I'm slowly starting to detest this fad for settling for less.
I see a trip to a faraway foreign country as a huge experience, even if I'm not the one who is taking it. Hearing 'Poland is beautiful, too' is all nice and cool, but it also sounds like a weak way of trying to measure up to someones exotic trip. Which should never be done, because in the end, people shouldn't travel just to brag: it makes them look childish and silly. Spending your vacation on a mountain trek in Zakopane sounds just as wonderful as taking a trip to scuba dive in Australia. However, one is a much larger commitment than the other.
Of course Poland is beautiful, but at some point in life we'll see all there is to see here and trying to reach out further away and check new places out shouldn't be seen as negating our homeland's appeal. If someone gave me the choice of going to Sopot/Gdańsk/Mazury/Kraków or say, China, I'd take the latter without hesitation. And most of us would, so there's no point in trying to fool ourselves.
I certainly wouldn't be doing so just to one-up my friends or for bragging rights. I just want to see as much as I can throughout my life. So sure, Poland may have some great spots and all, but if someone has the possibility to, they should travel as much as they can, whenever they can. And check Poland out at their leisure, 'cause, you know, they LIVE here. Why say 'Uh, I'll stay here and swim in the Baltic Sea' if you've done so for the last 5 years, and have the possibility to have a great adventure? I see 'the grass is always greener on the other side' as a symptom of polish pessimism, but also of a strange kind of ambition.

  26. I completely agree with the author. In Poland there are so many beautiful pleaces which many of us do not have a clue. For example we prefer go to the another countries to have higher peaks but in Poland there are a lot of mountain tops which are worth to go, for example Kasprowy Wierch or Giewont. We could say that we have everything in our country: see, mountains and lakes but we never appreciate that until you lose.

  27. I think that we have to separate two cases - the land of Poland and the state of Poland. Polish people are generally really proud of the land - nature, mountains, architecture of their regions. They feel great shame of the State, which stereotype for Polish people is really clear - enormously corrupted machine, which eats nation's hope for better future. On the other hand Polish people have big ability to speak and complain, but not to do something and change their social enviroment. A lot of Polish people are patriots and could die for their land, home, their neighbours, but not for the State and people from goverment. When it comes to me I have also the same feelings. I can die for my family and my region, but never I will never loose a drop of my blood for people who govern our country.

  28. I think the true is in the middle of our problem. Author shows his point of view, shows true - that people usually appreciates other countries. On the contrary I see comments that Polish people on the past few years started to be proud of their own country. We have acces to the sea, beautiful mountains or modern citiies. In Poland we can see many worth seeing monuments and places. I think time for visitings Bulgaria, Croatia, Egipt or other exotic for our nation countries would be keeping on. It's normal for people to want to see other civilizations or to spend holidays at the Golden Sands instead Zakopane or Gdańsk. Every country, every city in the world is worth seeing and every tour can teach us a lot of about the world and it history. We, as a Polish people, can be proud of our country, but it isn't bad to discover places all over the world.

  29. I totally agree with the author of this article. Polish people travel abroad because they are looking for something “extraordinary”. They want to make “selfie” in an exotic place and post the photo on Facebook. Friends must know where I was and what I did there. In this way we show how rich we are and how many friends we have. In common opinion Poland is only for poor people. The Baltic Sea is always cold and the Tatra Mountains are not too high. However it doesn’t mean that Poland is bad for tourists. We have got so many interesting places: museums, castles, churches. Let’s have a look on Malbork. This is the biggest medieval castle made by brick in Europe!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with the opinion that Poland is beautiful country but i can't agree with next part of author's opinion - not all Polish people underestimate our landspace, our monuments or cities like Wroclaw or something else. Lots of people are going to visit Polish mountains or Baltic Sea, we still love to spend time by sailing in the waters of the Mazury lakes. It's not weird that we also want to see another cultures and their habits, monument even food. It's quite normal! Sometimes we need to run away from work or responsibilities and lay on gold sand. Only we can decided where that sand will be. Maybe Bulgaria? Or Mallorca? Or maybe for the tenth time - Kołobrzeg?
It's nothing wrong in looking for something else, something which we haven't got in our "small world". But i agree - all of us should appreciate Poland and her natural beauty. That's our home.

  31. Personally, I think that Poland is a really good place to spend a holiday or weekend here. I can't understand why a lot of people go only abroad, completely forgetting how beautiful is our country. I get the impression that people move to other countries to tell friends or family where they were traveling. My own view on the matter is that it is worth to travel around the world but we can't forget about our homeland. From my point of view, only a few of us are traveling to other countries because we e.g. want to learn about other cultures. People like when others envy us. I want to press the point that Polish people often complain about the weather. Many of us prefer to spend vacation in a warm country like Greece. It's important to mention that here (I mean Poland ofc) are many cultural events in the summer - breathtaking exhibitions, festivals, concerts of famous celebrities. Moreover, Poland is a hospitable country by return "A guest in the house, is like God in the house". Here it's something to watch... Wawel Royal Castle, Cloth Hall in Krakow, the monastery of Jasna Gora. If you like to relax as me, it's a great idea to spend some time by the Polish Baltic Sea. Many tourists come here to rest, e.g. from Germany but not only... In Gdansk are many historical monuments also.

If we talk about the green... Everyone should at least once in your life to see Bialowieza Forest, Tatra National Park or Slowinski National Park with the only one in country shifting sand dunes, recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve!

  32. I completely agree with the author of the article! More and more often I find new places in Poland which I would have never supposed to find in my country. Most of them is really unique but some are similar to foreign popular places. So it's almost like seeing the most known places without going abroad. Such as: castles, churches, antiques, museums or even some architectonic styles of buildings are identical. Though in Poland is almost everything, like mountains, lakes and sea, the landscape will be much different than on the other side of the world. It's determined by the climate. And if you want to see more nature resources go abroad. But In my opinion if you want to discover your own country you'll always find some forgotten, century-old but interesting places. It doesn't matter where exactly you live. And believe me you'll have really unforgettable memories! Just look around.

  33. Nowadays people prefer to visit more safe countries so Poland seems to be a good choice. And for example Poland is one of these countries where are plenty of fascinating places to see. Every year there are more and more tourists sightseeing cities like Warsaw or Cracow. Foreigners find Poland very interesting. Then why Poles don’t visit places in our country? Polish people go abroad mostly because of the weather condition. They want to be sure that the weather will be good while being on vocation. Another reason we travel abroad is that we want to know different cultures and lifestyles. Sometimes we just don't know how many magical places lie in Poland. It happens because many of them aren’t so popular and need more publicity. So maybe not the grass is greener on the other side of fence but sunshine makes it look like it was.

  34. That's true. Here in Poland we have a lot of beautiful places to visit. We don't have to go abroad to be able to enjoy miracles of nature or admire architecture of our historical cities. On the South of country are breathtaking mountains, on the North we have Baltic Sea. Also we have wonderful land of lakes. Everywhere we can find place to rest or to adventure. Polish people should think twice before they decide to go abroad on holidays.

  35. I agree with the author of this article. I'm a person who travels a lot, I've been to many countries in Asia and Europe. There are many incredible places all around the world and when it comes to comparing - I can definitely say Poland is somewhere on the top of the list. In our country we can find countless places which are worth seeing. I was born in Kraków and I know its surroundings very well. Even in the area about 20 miles from the city you can find hundreds of places worth visiting - castles, palaces, forests, small villages, Ojcowski National Park and many more. I'm a hitchhiker and I can say that hitchhiking is one of the best ways to travel, especially through Poland which is full of amazing sites. In my opinion both travelling abroad and through our country is a great way to spend holidays.

  36. I completely agree with the author! To my mind, in Poland is a lot of breathtaking places. I'm convinced that foreigners who choose our country as a travel destination, will be satisfied. In every city in Poland we can admire something new. For example i live in Starachowice. I suppose that most of this blog's readers don't know where it is. [160 kilometers south of Warsaw.] And although it isn't any big city, I'm delighted that so many places are fascinating there. Seriously! Three beautiful floodplains, a historical place associated with world war, beautiful fountains, at least five great parks, an old mine, the forest just next to the city and many others. If even in my city I can visit so many places, I belive that it is possible everywhere in Poland. We don't have to travel very far and spend a lot of money to experience a wonderful adventure and explore something amazing. We can do it every day.

  37. I also agree with the author of this post. Many people love travelling abroad and I understand their point of view - they can get whatever they want. If someone loves sunbathing and swimming in the sea, he/she chooses to go to the tropics for holidays because the weather there is almost always certain. When somebody is a ski lover, there's no problem to go skiing during the summer, for example in Switzerland or France. I also agree with the statement that Polish people don't know Poland. To be sure, I also didn't know these beautiful places presented on the blog. And now I'm a little bit ashamed for myself because I'm a Polish woman and I don't know my country. That's the thing that should be improved in my life for sure. Should I maybe think about it as a New Year's resolution?

  38. Wow! Both the Srebrna Góra's stronghold and Churches of Peace look impressive. I've to go visit them someday - hope they also have interesting stories to discover.
I also recommend numerous Polish "Trails" that connect castles and towers. The most known is Szlak Orlich Gniazd - trail consisting of over 20 castles on the south of Poland. But there is more! Have you heard about Szlak Zamków Gotyckich or Szlak Zamków Piastowskich? You should definitely check them out :D
Btw. Personally I love to discover such magical places "by accident". Just wondering around a town, admiring architecture and then... spoting a small wooden church cramped between modern buildings. Wonderful experience!

Poland is a country that have got beautiful mountains, sea and many interesting monuments, castles etc. People around the world come to Poland to visit these amazing places. But if we live here since we were born, it’s not very special for us to visit them. We live in conviction that we will have opportunity to travel in Poland always because it’s close, we don’t have to spend a lot of money and it’s easier than travelling to another country. I don’t think we are too lazy to find interesting places in Poland, I think we feel that we can visit them always and that’s why we are waiting for a right moment!

  42. I totally agree with the author of this post. Tasting completly diffrent cuisine or admiring an architecture may be fantastic (because we like trying new things) and i totally understand this point of view. But we can't forget about our country. According to text, there are many hidden places which are waiting to be discovered by tourists. Poland has a long history so it means that on our territory there are many old castles and buildings (building where now is psychology, used to be a headquarters of a German police). But Poland is also full of baeutiful lakes, has access to the sea, and in the south there are mountains. So i'm convinced that almost every foreign tourist could choose what she/he likes and won't be disappointed.

  43. I absolutely get the author's point. It's a pity that Polish people often look for exotic expensive holiday abroad not knowing the beautiful places full of history in their own country. In Poland we can find variety of attractions starting with interesting monuments and buildings in Polish cities and ending up with lovely nature in nationals park around the whole country. Each trip gives you a chance to explore new sites and to know stories of different places. Also Polish local traditions and cuisine are unique and should be appreciated. I believe that every country has its great sides to be seen. So why don't we start with Poland?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree with the author of presentation. Polish people don't realize, how beautiful our country is and how many interesting places we have in Poland. For example, they go skiing to the Alps, but they have never been to polish mountainsides like Białka Tatrzańska. They visit foreign seaside resorts, but spending holiday in Gdańsk in July can be even more satisfying. Such things may be caused by our laziness. There are lots of fascinating places (like stronghold in Modlin), which are so close to Warsaw or even in this town, but we have never visited them. Maybe these venues aren't hyped up enough? Or maybe we don't have time, because we prefer to spend our free time at home staring at computer screens? All i know is we should try to get to know better our land and area, we live in.

  45. I cannot agree with the author. Many people prefer going on holiday abroad rather than spending their spare time in Poland as they might just don't like the people in here, the weather, the polish mentality. They want to experience something different and unusual. Some people go abroad to blend for a while into different, strange to them culture and meet new interesting people who grew up in a different environment. They usually find this experience unforgettable. When it comes to the weather many people complain that being on holiday in Poland they've wasted their money and time, for example they weren't able to sunbathing by the Baltic Sea because it was raining all the time. That's why people choose spending their holiday in countries where the weather is settled and you know what to expect while planning how you'll spend your free time. Also it's worth to mention that nowadays we have the possibility and can easily go abroad. In the past the situation looked quite different and many people dreamt about going abroad, now we have the possibility to get to know the world so why shouldn't we use the opportunity and taste a different culture?

In my opinion Poland is really beautiful place to explore. Maybe it's not that interesting for you, because you're Polish and you think, that you have seen everything here, but I'm sure that there are some places that you even didn't her about. For example the castle in Moszna, or Gródek above Dunajcem (https://s-ec.bstatic.com/images/hotel/max1024x768/440/44068727.jpg) Our country is great, really !

I think that Poland is varied and mesmerizing country because of the Mountain Chain on the South and the Seaside on the North. For example active people can go to the mountains, if you need some peace and you like commune with nature go on Mazury or Roztocze. I believe that Poland has something for everyone, but you need to take a computer and search what is worth to see in your area.

  48. I agree with the author of this post. In our beautiful country is many wonderful buildings, streets, squares. We can visit really incredible places and admire beautiful of nature and pieces of work human. In my opinion in every country we could find something that is not somewhere else. Just look around, can to see beauty, that is it, near you.
Of course, I don't think that journeys are bad. Oppositely: I agree with proverb "trevel broadens mind", but it is improtant to strike a happy medium and can pick beauty out on every land. ;)

  49. I enjoy this text, thank You! And I completely agree with the author of this text. There are a lot of beautiful and amazing places around the world and people really often forget about their own country, beacuse they like so much unknown and exciting places, adventures and opportunities which give them foreign countries (to taste completely different cuisine and to get to know other culture). But maybe the grass is not always greener on the other side of fence? Try to find your favourite and breathtaking place for You in Poland! It's not so hard :)

  50. I understand the idea of the author but I can't agree with him in 100%. Of course, there is a lot of heartbreaking places in Poland. I love walking in the Polish mountains with my friends and spending time in small towns with their charming atmosphere. But on the other hand, when you are abroad you get to know different culture, cuisine and people with different mentality. However, I believe that spending holidays abroad is neither better nor worse than spending it in Poland. It isn't important where you spend holidays, but how you spend it and with whom.

  51. It is embarrassing to talk about it , but I was in Srebrna Góra and in churches in Świdnica and Jawor, but I never have been in stronghold in Modlin, and I born and live in Warsaw. However, after reading this presentation I decided, that I have to visit this place in the near future. I totally agree with author, in Poland we can find a lots of interesting places.Personally, my favourite cities in Poland are Wroclaw and Warsaw. Moreover, in our country we have breathtaking moutains. I was in shelter in Tatras three years ago, and this is incredible experience. I met a lot of people there, also from other countries and they are fascinated by this place. I think we just have to learn to appreciate what we have.

  52. I totally agree with author's opinion! I think Polish people find holiday abroad exotic, unusual, more interesting, and holiday in Poland - boring. This is sad, because Poland has beatiful places to discover. Poland has sea, mountains, lakes, and cities full of interesting places. Personally I love traveling in Poland as much as abroad! :)

  53. I'm afraid I must agree with author's opinion. There is nothing more real than saying that the grass is always greener on the other side of fence - people are interested in anything which is far away from their place of living, which is absolutely incomprehensible - as author of this post said, there are many, many places in Poland that are beautiful and worth seeing. But on the other hand, in Poland the weather is something unstable - for example by the Polish, Baltic sea. Some people prefer to pay the same price and go somewhere where the sun is always up, and we all know how it is by Polish sea.

In conclusion, each stick has two ends :)

  55. Well said, unfortunately what most beautiful is hidden in shadows and only few knows about it. That's because we are convinient. Don't go for a package holiday, take your car and discover. Poland is definitely a beautiful country but we don't appreciate what we have in more ways that we can imagine. When I first time came to Warsaw to Royal Łazienki Park I wouldn't see half of unique places there without Google Maps. If you have something to show, why not to guide to that place? Tourism at the baltic see is also not developed properly, because we don't work for together's good, but we are individuals fighting against each other. Why? Because we are convnient, we don't care, it's just easier. It's better to say: "I was in Spain", rather than "I discovered some intresting castle ruins somewhere in Poland.". It's sad to be honest. But maybe it will change someday, we will wake up with a smile and think:"I'm so happy that I was born in this beautiful country".

  57. In my view, people prefer travel abroad and spend their holiday in exotic country, show pictures off and feel better than their neighbours/friends who spend their holidays or weekend in Poland. Are we really going abroad to explore the history of other countries? Well, I can believe that we want to get to know something about another culture, cuisine or local traditions. I'm slowly taking to the internal travels. In Poland there are some resorts when we can relax and admire the views e.g. in The Baltic Sea, Masuria and the beautiful Mountain. We also have many historic places (e.g. Malbork, Warsaw, Cracow, Wrocław) and monuments. Poland has many National Parks where we can breath fresh air and admire the nature. Of course, if someone need to travel far away, it's ok, after all, trevel broadens the mind.

  58. Very interesting point of view displayed on te presentation. I agree that Poland is beautiful place with big touristic potential. I think most of the people are convinced to that so strongly, not only from Poland but also from other countries. Each year amount of tourists is increasing so there is no need to worry that someone prefers travelling abroad because we are truly sure that our country is magnificent.

  59. There is no doubt that Poland is also interesting!
Every country offers different places and culture and it depends of our preferences what is atractive for us. If we love museums, historical places - Poland will be atractive for us and we will enjoy discovering this country! But if we prefere exotic views, beaches or unpopular activities for example surfing, we need to travel abroad for example to Spain. In my opinion it is important to know your country and be open for others. Something which is common for us can be the best atraction for others!

  60. I couldn't agree more. Poland is the underrated travel destination, that deserves much more attention. The natural beauty of this country is incredible. You get forests, beaches, mountains and lakes. When it comes to the Polish cities they have amazing architecture, beautiful, brightly coloured buildings and unique old town areas. It is a pity that so many people completely ignore the country that they live in and see it as something boring.

  61. I have no doubt when Poland is one of the attractive countries I have ever been so far. Even though I never experienced or visited in those peaceful places, but through the author's article I know there're more beautifully places than crowded and popular tourist destinations. As I've known so far, Poland is a country associated with many historical places after the devastation of the war such as old towns with incredible views, Auschwitz concentration,... Besides, rural areas that far away from urban are the places you should go once in a life.
I also have no idea why people are gradually missing Green places, ecological areas with natural scenery. Traveling to the green areas, mountains in Poland, you can breath the clean air, blend with nature which cities never bring it to you. Moreover, you can save your money, you know why? less expensive than city, more fresh,....

  63. In my opinion the statement "The grass is always greener on the other side of fence" isn't always fair when speaking about a trend to travel abroad. Poland is of course interesting and attractive country for any tourist. Having both sea and mountains is a huge advantage and one cannot forget about our unusual history, culture and architecture monuments that this history left. But if we have lived in any country since birth we've had enough time to learn its language, architecture style, food menu, type of landscapes and other features by heart. You can enjoy a trip in your local region but nothing will surprise you because probably you have seen something similar many times. In some time you can feel how curiosity of the unknown will led you further into the world. That is why visiting another countries can be so exciting even if the local people aren't enchanted with their home as you are with theirs. Adventure is learning new and facing unpredictable. So reffering to the title quote - we can have the greenest grass and still be dreaming of exploring a desert, and I think there is nothing wrong with it.

  64. I think that's true, that people do not appreciate how beautiful Poland is. The Author pointed out really fascinating places in our country which aren't really popular due to the trend to travel aboard. I couldn't agree more with Julianna: Poland is filled with many breathtaking places, but also living here for entire life makes you feel that you know everything about the culture of Poland. ,, The grass is always greener on the other side of the fance'' is a true statement because people underestimated beauty of our country.

  65. That may be a surprise for you, but I've actually been to all the places you talk about. Unfortunately it's pretty exceptional for people my age that have been raised in Poland. There is a belief among Polish people that travelling abroad is exclusive, exceptional and first of all alluring. Of course I find it important to explore and get to know other cultures. But does Poland really has nothing to offer? I think it's infeasible! I believe we have to talk about beauty of Poland and embrace the options we have. Extraordinary Tatra mountains, unique Mazury district and my personal favorite - Kazimierz, part of Kraków. But you know what? There are so many more places waiting to be discovered... Maybe we should stop thinking about our neighbor's grass and nurture our's.

  66. This article makes me think about all the incredible places I have ever visited. Some of them were in Poland and others abroad. I'm thankful that my parents made sure that we travelled a lot when I was younger. We visited many beautiful places in Poland, which taught me to appreciate the country I come from. What is more, now I can talk about famous polish landmarks with my foreign friends.
Many people don't even know crucial historical parts of the place they live in. Therefore, they cannot appreciate the beauty of their town. I believe that it is vital to know at least one fun fact about your town. Moreover, we should all try to explore our charming country to find marvellous places that we can be proud of. Then the saying "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" wouldn't be true as it is now.

  67. This post couldn't be more right! I think that we should be more respectful if it comes to our historical monuments. We blindly support big tourist cities like Paris, Rome, Berlin etc. In my opinion social medias have the biggest involvement in promoting those cities which are very overcrowded with tourists. Nowadays it's all about ignorant posts, amount of likes and dishonest selfies. We should be proud of our heritage and some "underground" monuments. If we could just see what we have in front of ourselves, Poland would be a better place!

  68. I agree with the author of the article. Polish people definitely do not appreciate what our country offers us. Both in terms of nature and architecture. I have only recently started travelling around Poland instead of going abroad. It started last summer when the pandemic did not allow us to cross the borders of other countries. I was in Mazury and was delighted by the landscape of this place. Polish people usually do not want to travel around the country because they want to explore new and distant places. This is not surprising, but once in a while it is worth seeing something in our country and appreciate it
P.S. I can recommend Kampinowski National Park near Warsaw. I was there for the first time although I come from Warsaw -it such a beautiful place.

  69. I disagree, people want to travel abroad because the world is a huge place and there are some many beautiful places to see and to visit.
Poland is a small country, and there are only some many things we can see. Also travelling abroad gives us opportunity to meet interesting people and see different cultures.

  70. People never seem to appreciate the place they live. We always try to escape our country to go on a fancy vacation abroad. Greece, Croatia, Egypt seem like perfect destinations but here in Poland, we have a lot of incredible places that are worth visiting. Toruń Old Town, Mazury District, Sopot pier are just a few astonishingly beautiful places and there are many more to discover. What is more, spending the vacation in Poland may be cheaper and for many people, this is the main factor when choosing a place to rest. We don't need to seek delightful locations outside of our country. We have to experience the beauty of it ourselves. However, exploring new cultures and people is also amazing. So it is just a matter of personal choice if we want to spend free time in Poland or not.

  71. I agree that in Poland there are a lot of wonderful, unknown places where we can spend a unique time. Only we must give yourself an opportunity to discover them because new holiday experiences damage leaving our comfort zone with packing holiday and giving another places a chance to present their beauty. Wild beaches, neglected castles, undiscovered caves might be great ideas for holiday. And photos which are made in these places may be as impressive as made in foreign countries, for example in Paris. Morover it is worth to mention that we shouldn't give up foreign voyages and replace them with sightseeing only Poland. Discovering different countries and their cultures is also very important. Generally, I think that each travel destination is good if it make us happy. We can research our batteries efficient as same in Poland as in other places in the world. But it is worth promoting local travelling because a lot of people still suppose that ,,the grass is always greener on the other side of fence” and this is the only reason why they avoid trips around Poland.

  72. I partly agree with the author, that many people think that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Probably they think that way, because Poland is our home, and wherever we go,we can expect some things that are common in Poland. In my opinion castles, churches and strongholds are becoming more and more boring. Same goes with climate, we can experience it every day. That’s why we are more encouraged to travel abroad, to see something else, that might be a new thing for us.In my opinion you can have a good time while traveling in Poland, but foreign countries are something else and I think that there you can have better traveling experience

  73. I agree with the author of the article. Going on vacation, we prefer to travel abroad, forgetting how beautiful Poland is. Poland is full of interesting places. Picturesque landscapes, ski resorts, beaches, huge forests, ancient castles, various churches, a huge number of museums and exhibitions, many monuments devoted to different events and personalities - we often forget that all this is in Poland. Everyone will find something interesting for themselves. Some may find it boring to spend vacations at Poland, but in fact it can be very interesting, it is just worth getting to know your country better.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
