Celebrity gossips

Why do so many people care about celebrities and gossips associated with them? Why are there a dozen or more TV shows that are just devoted to celebrity gossip? Why are there so many magazines about stars? But while I am not much interested in celebrities, I am extremely interested in why other people are so interested in them. Here are some of my theories.

We will always be interested in celebrity news because it gives us an opportunity to let our minds immerge in a fantasy world that is much more glamorous than our own. We can dream that the attractive celebrity we admire may want to hang out with us one day and we will go for coffee and a stroll in the park. We may fantasize about the celebrity's world in order to take us away from our own real lives.

We love to read stories about stars and see them on the news when they started out as the boy or girl-next-door and have made big career. This gives us hope that it could happen for us some day. Perhaps a director or producer will pick us from the street while we are doing shopping and make us stars. In reality, we know that this is unlikely. But it’s just a daydream we like to dream about.

Gossip journalism has in recent years come to revolve more and more around the celebrity fails. Sheen's implosion comes on top of those of Britney Spears, Mel Gibson, Tiger Woods, and many more who have embarrassed themselves in the media spotlight. Seeing the rich and famous embarrased makes us feel superior, or at least not quite so inferior.

PAPARAZZI

Paparazzi take photos of celebrities and sell them to magazines and tabloids. Basically it is a job to invade a famous person's life and take photos of them in compromising situations for entertainment purposes.

The word paparazzi came from the Italian word for mosquito or pest. The word now refers to cameramen who swarm around unsuspecting celebrities and annoy them - just like a mosquito that we all want to smack.

Here is a trailer of movie about teenage L.A paparazzi:

  1. I don't know why and I can't imagine why people like celebrities so much. Maybe it is because people are like small children, they like nice stories about kingdoms, princesses, richness, good luck and glory. I think that for many people social divisions is natural. Someone’s life is better then mine and that is what the world must be like. People prefer dream then their own unlike life situation and conditions, they need that untrue unique stories.
Sometimes people are collecting knowledge about known people life. Many of use want to believe that reality can look like that and we are happy that this marvelous fame could happen to person similar to us. We are proud of that chosen one. People believe what they see usually it is fictitious version made by media

  2. The best answer to the question why people follow news about celebrities so closely may be that they simply don't have more interesting things to do. It can also be connected with a kind of social pressure: 'everyone knows recent facts about those stars so I also should know not to come out to be ignorant'. In fact many ordinary people don't want to know anything about celebrities but they are being attacked by the gossips on a number of occasions: on TV, in magazines, each newspaper, adverts, even simple screens in Warsaw underground, trams or buses. It seems to be almost impossible to avoid them.

  3. I guess there are 2 main reasons why people love gossips.
First - they are amazed by glamorous and wonderful life of rich, good-looking celebrities. They wish it was their life, so they are hungry for any news about them. They read that X has an affair with handsome Y, that Z earned 1 mln $ for a movie and lost 15 kg in 2 weeks.
And all those news leads to second reason. We are jealous and frustrated so we like even better to read about celebrities' problems, splits, weight gains, drug addiction and so on. What's more people feel anonymous in the internet so they often insult celebrities and write nasty comments. They want to unload their frustrations.
Gossip programs and online sites are the most viewed ones, it's kinda scary how easy it is for people to talk and often offend people they have never met.

  4. I also asked myself a question : "Why do people care so much about celebrities?". And I have similar conclusions. I guess we just want to run away from our boring reality and see how it is to be pretty, famous and rich.
Nowadays we have a very worrying phenomenon of "celebrity culture". Celebrities are everywhere: on TV, radio, newspapers, Internet. So even if we try very very hard, it's almost impossible to avoid them. So as they surround us, people will gossip about them. It's rally just a math.
I think there may be one different reason why we keep fallow celebrities. They are the trendsetters. So maybe there is a possibility that people want to check out what is trendy and popular right now? Celebrities show us what to wear or eat. That's very silly to imitate them but whatever works for people.

  5. I really don’t know, why people are interested in celebrity and spend a lot of time watching news and reading articles about stars.
Maybe it’s due to our ordinary lifestyle. People need a beautiful story and dream about it. On the other hand they want to be stylish and dress like a celebrity, because they think, that they are for example more attractive.
In my opinion, following stars is a waste of time especially when we have less and less time for everything.

  6. I don't think it is so amazing to observe celebrity gossips. I am not interested in doing it, but I know that a lot od people around me do it and sometimes it is the only way how they spend their leisure time. For them it is great to read that celebrities earn a lot of money and they are very wasteful. The things which they are doing are immortal, unwise and just a little silly. Ordinary people dream to have such big and well furnished houses. But what we are looking at isn't a real world with normal problems. Sometimes we realize that and this is one of the reason why people are interesting in it. They are lookong for something they will never find in their normal, gray, everyday world. World which will not be extraordinary. The most important thing is how many did the celebrity spend on her dress, how many kg did she/he lose or what did she/he do yesterday. People don't know the biography of celebrities. Sometimes people even don't know why she/he becomes a celebrity and what she/he is famous for. Nowadays there are so many people which are called celebrities.

  7. For me, the reason why we are interested in this kind of information, is the need to relax. It's like fairytales for grown-ups. As children, we were used to read and watch tales about totally abstract world of talking animals, fairies, kings and queens, and therefore escape from the real one. We need this as well in an adult life, so sometimes our brain just has to focus on something unbelievable and uncanny. Then we start dreaming about a different life, we wonder how would it be, if..? That makes this industry goes round. As long as it doesn't harm the people, I don't really care, as it stays clear, that this is a price for being famous. However, I absolutely don't get a point in feeding on someones fails or problems - unfortunately those are the 'best-sellers' in a gossip world...

    ReplyDelete
  8. I don't really care about such information. It is irrelevant for me in life. In my opinion, people like such news because of either boredom and fantasies if gossip is bringing positive information, or disdain and feeling of superiority (moral, intelectual or any other) if it gives negative information about celebrities.
What is keeping people interested? I don't know and don't care to know. It can be surprising, but even celebrities are people (:P) so their right to privacy should be upholded and paparazzi should recieve more punishment then repriment from official of some silly fine equal to small fraction of what they earned while breaching privacy of some celebrity.

  9. Famous people life doesn’t interest me and I thing that all the gossip sites are unnecessary but I now that many people can’t live without them. In my opinion people have a boring life and interested at famous people life full of scandals, beautiful women and men, numerous banquets and party to have some kind of entertainment. For other people celebrities are idols and they try to imitate their.
Celebrities have a privet life but very often it is disturbed by paparazzi who looking for opportunities to do compromising pictures. Sometimes paparazzi arrange awkward situations for stars what is shameful.

    ReplyDelete
  10. People follow news about celebrities because they are not fully satisfied with their own lives, which may be boring or annoying. In my opinion people who are happy with their life and appreciate it don't have time or are just not willing to follow gossips connected to the strangers.
Stars, especially those top ones, don't have privet life. The more people are interested in gossip the demand for awkward pics of celebrities is bigger.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I also agree with the previous speakers that the main reason why people are so interested in celebrities and gossips is that it is for them a kind of escape from everyday life. They see a fabulous and luxury life and they may dream about it. But in fact, star's lifes are not so beautiful as we see in magazines. A lot of information that we can find in magazines and gossip websites are faked. Authors only want to create a sensation. In my opinion rumors are detrimental to the stars, they strip them from privacy. On the other hand, there are those celebrities who specially arrange with the paparazzi, to have a good picture. They want just to get them told. I personally don't like to read about celebrities. I don't care about their lives, it doesn't matter to me.

  12. The gossip are for enjoy, sometimes for funny and for go away from the reality. People are very intrested in celebrities life. Perhaps sometimes they are jalous. They want have clothes from the best designer, have big house for 2mln dollars and have also a problem like what dress put on this evening. But on the other hand life of celebrites often isn't the same as many magasines or photos in a gosspip portal show. We should taking it easy.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The reason why people intrested in celebrities is beacuse their life is diffrent from our. People are not satisfied with their life. People like dreaming about that some day their life can change and can look like some celebrities. If you like the actor you also like to follow his life to know what is going on with him. You read magazines and viewing pages which often tell untruth.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If think, that in this time, people very like celebrity gossip. For lot of them, it's a good way for, for example, spending evening. They are interested in everything that is going on in the lives of their favourite actors, singers. I think a lot of people enjoy them because in this day and age it common to see how celebrites live and to those people its normal.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have to say that I put no interest In celebrities and so on. I think I don’t even know most of the present-day famous people. So it will be very difficult to me to understand why people take care about persons ‘famous because of being famous’. Maybe people need to watch other people life and compare it with their own ones. I think that especially we like to hear about celebrity fails and that’s why the gossip journalism is so popular.

    ReplyDelete
  16. To be honest I must say that all that celebrity shows in TV are pathetic. I really don't understand how any people may be interested in celebrities lifes. I always when I see a program with those pop-stats in TV I'm wondering who want to watch it? And why there is no more programs where guests are some scientist or professor from some a university. At this moment I don't know who is the best TV superstar, and who is top one at hit-parade, and i don't care about it. I have more porblems on my head, and in my opinion following famous people life is unnecessary, it won't help me in the future. I prefer to read some book or even watch some program on Discovery instead of reading about other peoples life.

  17. I don't interested in celebrities and gossip. that’s kind of information are for an interesting people. i think job like gossip journalist and paparazzi is a horrible and immoral. They are destroy the career of celebrities.
Sometimes that famous people want to be in that kind of rubbish media. byt in my opinion is a stupid and an interesting

  18. As it comes to topic of celebritiy gossips everyone is always very surprised about popularity of portals like Pudelek.pl. Everyone says that it's "pathetic" and that she/he is absolutely not interested in such foolish entertainment - so where are these hundreds of people who visit Pudelek.pl everyday? I think that if we want to understand why gossip portals are so popular we shouldn't try to look at this phenomenon from distance - we should look honestly into ourselves and find an answer deep in human nature. As all great phenomenons, which are involving hundreds of people, also this need of voyeurism can't be explained just by stupidity of "others" - it's the easiest solution and also one of most ignorant. I also have mixed feelings about this "celebrity phenomenon" in our times, but the roots of it are for me quite obvious - it's just our nature and we shouldn't blame anything else, but just ourselves.

  19. I don't give a damn about celebrities life at all. More important is for me what's going on in my family members' and friends' lifes, what problem they have to deal with, because... I don't know... First of all - I know them, right? And they are really important to me. And secondly - this is something what I can really do something about. F.ex. how cool is the information that Britney cut her hair? Or that Maciej Stuhr is moving out from his place. 'Is his marriage over...?!' Not your f*cking bussiness!!! And finally, if I were a celebrity and paparazzi were taking photos all the time wherever I go... Well, let's say I'm not suprised that sometimes celebrities kick their asses. And I'm not sorry for them.

Single-sex education

A little bit of history Single-sex education was traditional and dominating form of education till 19th century. Almost all schools and universities were single sex, which in almost all cases meant – men’s schools. This situation started to change because of two reasons: emancipation of women (fight for equality) and introduction of massive education. The first mixed-sex boarding school in UK was formed in 1818, it was Scottish Dollar Academy, and in 1878 the first university- University College London, allowed women  to enter on equal terms with men. What is interesting, the first Cambridge collage, which admit men and women was founded only on  1964. Pros and cons The topic of single-sex education is quite controversial. Like always there are pros and cons, some of them are quite irrational, other have a scientific background. The most popular arguments for single-sex education: 1. Boys and girls are learning in the different way, so they need different progr
THE MOST TRUSTED  PROFESSIONS Many people say that their job is important for our society, but is it a trustworthy profession? A market research institute asked people about trustworthy professions. Here you will find its results. The Top Five Most Trusted Professions 1. Firefighters A 2009 poll conducted by market research institute GfK found that firefighters ranked as the most trusted profession in Europe and the United States with 92 percent of respondents fining them trustworthy. Perhaps it’s all in the job description—being required to step into the face of danger every time you head out for an assignment is not just admirable, it’s downright heroic. 2. Teachers In the same GfK poll that lauded firefighters, teachers ranked second with 83 percent. It’s a good sign considering that the people responsible for crafting the minds of our children are deemed trustworthy. “I think every teacher recognizes that they are part of a trusted profession—that parents

Does money spoil people?

Does money spoil people? There is a saying that ‘money spoils people’, which means that people who become rich also start being rude and nasty. Is this true or not? I do not like categorize people, all stories are different. Probably everyone knows someone who is rich and nice person, and someone who is wealthy and horrible…What can determine behaviour of these people? copyright:http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/money.jpg 1 .     First of all how they got their money. Some people are rich because they won the lottery and some of them because they are genius who made a discovery of new, brilliant solution. There are also ones who are rich because they inherit all wealth from their ancestors… It is not a rule, but I think that people who work hard for everything what they have are more stable and realistic than ones, who don’t need to do anything because they got everything for free (without dedication or hard work). They won’t probably understand
