When we
hear about corruption, robbery or
false papers, we think about
cheating. But when we use a crib sheet, pay somebody compliments, download
music form the Internet- this is a normal situation. What exactly is
cheating and why do we do this?
We start to
cheat cheating in our childhood. We learn that we should behave in a society,
for example, be nice and polite for everybody, even if we don’t want it. Also an
absolute sincerity is not a positive feature , because somebody, who always says
what he or she wants, and what he or she thinks, can be considered to be a rude
or a self- conceited person. On the other hand, we cheat for a security- say
false information about our privacy, hide compromising facts or cheat for being
admitted to a new community, be popular. We do this because of easy profits- to
escape from a punishment or gain something free. Of course, we cheat because of
a fact that people around us also do this, for example, download music, and
because of general habits- use a crib sheet to pass the exam.
However,
cheating is not a very easy activity for our body. Our brain needs a little bit
more time to create a false information, which we will say. People need more
concentration to tell lies and often make some mistakes while they do it. What
is more, when we do something forbidden, we can sweat and be more nervous,
anxious.
Honestly, when
we think about lies, women and men cheat with the same frequency but often with
various causes and forms. Women often tell blarneys, men are to complimentary
about their activity or their
personality. Men often tell lies, when they are anonymous, women lie through
one’s teeth.

ReplyDeleteYou can not explicitly specify that it is good or bad. It is known that it is stolen. Maybe they just do not feel, but stealing from the creators of music. It's just that no one has to feel guilty about it, because that's all they do and do not identify it with the word "theft". On the other hand, if not for the Internet and illegal files, people would not know of many bands. Not to mention Poland, take a non-democratic country nationals who often are cut off from everything from the West - movies, music, books. For these people piracy is the only way to get to know the music and other "branches" of mass culture. Also - someone downloads an album, but he likes it. Downloads the discography and become a fan of the band. He would go to a concert, decided to collect discography.. Normally it would not be able to afford buying CDs teams that would like to listen to myself and get to know. Not in Poland, and I doubt that even in the United everyone was on something like this happen. In addition, many young bands just on the Internet to promote. Many CD's underground bands you will not find in any store, or at a concert - a concert you go, if you know the band. General,as Dickinson once said: those musicians who have a good rapport with the fans, I never lose to piracy, because people will still be buying their records and went to concerts. Losing can only seasonal star whose career is based on the greatest number of records sold. And most of these people honk against piracy. If someone makes music for the satisfaction of giving joy to others and of meeting, and not for the money, it is happy that people get to know his music and go to concerts.
ReplyDeleteI know that the piracy/ downloading is illegal, but it has got also a positive side. Thanks to easy acces to the music, film etc. we can developping our knowledge. Moreover we can earn money and go to the concert of our idol. I think, that downloading is also a sort of reccomodation or publicity, because thanks to it we can heart about some new film or musician group.

ReplyDeleteBut there is few controversial points. One of them is combined with stealing. We really steal something when we taking it from "pirate sites"? Somone sad this is same like taking items from store without paying. Really? I'm not taking the real box, item. You can't sell just virtual file. So this is not the same. However, it is not ok, when somone downloading, for example games, and even when he enjoy it, he won't pay for it.
It is different situation between music and game piracy. Why?
Music industry learned a lot from informatic era. They meet the expectations of people. They can't stop piracy, so they shared music with services like grooveshark or spotify. People are lazy - they prefer to pay small money, than to search for illegal files. And both sides are happy ;)
Piracy is piracy but I don't really know downloading music is illegal. It's like copying book. You can do it only for your own needs. I think it is fine until we do not derive benefit from this. Let's be clear, music stars and music label have so much money they even notice that somebody download few songs. I agree with information about men and women lies it's like real life. I think people have coded lying.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think that piracy is not bad in some reasonable limits. Some programs, books, games, music CDs are just as expensive, so that every person could afford to buy them. Sometimes the price of these things tend to be absurd. I think the compromise would be a reduction in prices by producers which could lead to the fact that people are more willing to purchase it in a legal way.

ReplyDeleteInformation about men and women lies is true. Generally, most of men are more self- centered, whereas women want to be considered to be friendly.
To me cheating is very common in our civilization. It facilitates life and in many cases it is more convenient than telling the truth. People often forget, however, that every lie ever comes to light and it will bring more negative effects than telling the truth right away. I think that downloading music, for example, is not a bad thing, if you do it for your own use. It is a cheap way to get music or movies. I think that cheating is wrong. We should avoided it.
ReplyDeleteI am bad at cheating and my body language always says about it. My hands often are very wet, I still look at eyes of my Profesor and I can't control it. In many countries at Universities, the students cannot cheating. The cheating is well-known by various field of policy. I think that downloading music or films shouldn't be consider as something illegal because of social problems. The quality of music on CDs is much better and I think that most people would buy it if they would have enough money.
ReplyDeleteToday downloading music, films or books from internet is very common. I have to admit that I also do this. I think that we do this because today CD's and films are just too expensive. I know that this is illegal but I'm not going to stop doing this. I don't feel guilty about it.

I think cheating is a natural activity for people. There are many forms and types of cheating, some of them are more trivial and some are more serious. I think that this is not such a bad thing to say from time to time a little lie but we have to see the line.
Downloading music illegally, a crib sheet in an exam or blarney is cheating. There are a lot of situations when we try to cheat someone else. I think that it is more popular nowadays than it was earlier. We want to cheat in school to have better marks, in work to get a promotion or to do something faster than someone else. We also do it using our computers and Internet. The greatest plague is downloading everything what we can. Few people go to shop and buy some album or DVD with new film. I agree that cheating is a natural activity for people. Everyone tries to be the best.
ReplyDeleteNowadays selling music and films became so common that it is hard to control this process. Also I would have spend a lot of money to buy all CD's which I listen. Moreover some old bands are not available in shop, but only on the Internet. I think the market should just adapt to this situation. For example as the creators of serial "Game of thrones" who are bragging the number of downloading episodes. Although I strongly disagree with cheating on the exams. Especially on studies where you only learn for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI try not to cheat, because I don't feel comfortable with myself if I do. I especially don't cheat during exams because thera are serious legal consequences for that. However, I don't consider downloading music as cheating, it's actually legal.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that downloading music illegally is good thing. We should pay for it as for any other way of listening music (for e.g. when we listen to music in radio or TV we pay each month TV/radio licence or we pay to our digital TV provider). That's why I think that music on demand, like Spotify or iCloud, is great solution for this issue - you pay a little and you can listen to almost any song you want to :)

It's hard to say if cheating is natural for humans. I think there are some communities or tribes who don't know even what cheating means.
Of course, cheating is natural. That was necessary to stay alive ages ago! And now it's also helpful, but in our way stays morality...
ReplyDeleteMusic from internet? So, Krystian Zimmerman interrupted his concert yesterday because of man, who was recording his performance. He said “Youtube is destroying music”. But lots of musicians take a different view. Radiohead published their record for free in internet. Some artists followed them. And admit, that music from internet is not a big problem for them. Because real fans will buy original record. And a real profit is not in records but in concert routes.
I think downloading music and not paying for this is a robbery. We are so insensitive to this kind of "crime" so we are doing it all the time with not stings of remorse. I try to not cheating on exams. Cheating is a cowardice for me.
ReplyDeleteMen and women have different feelings so I think men usually cheating in different cases compared to women. It works in against way too.
I think cheating cooperates with our emotions, feelings and characters so maybe it is our human issue but I'm not 100 % sure.
When I was in high school I always cheat. Every writing test from: history, biology and geography. Why? Those subjects were not interesting for me. I didn't like the teachers. There was no contact between teacher and pupil on those classes. I had filling that every second year I start again from the begging.

Downloading from Internet… I don’t know. I pay for Internet, everybody does…
In my opinion cheating is wrong by its normal things. In a case of Zimmerman who stopped his concert I think that it is more complicated and restrainting it only to his words that youtube destroys music is showing it in incompete way. It was also told that he was wild-eyed only by a fact that someone was recording/filming him in this local philharmonic orwhatever this place is. I'm sorry but what kind of man this "recorder" is? It is outrageous that people act like that. So I am not surprised by Zimmermans' reaction.
ReplyDeleteI think musicians should search for alternative ways to earn money. It's obvious that most people download music from Internet and artists should accept it. I don't feel shame when I download something illegaly from Internet because I was raised that it's totally OK.
ReplyDeleteAs for me piracy is totally normal activity. Well, is it different than listening to radio? When listening to radio is ok, why should getting this music on you player be punished? Also - artists are making most money on giving concerts so piracy is pretty good for them - i won't go to concert if i don't know the artist. What is more - it's not stealing. It's copying, artist still have his songs ;)
ReplyDeleteI think downloading media without paying is a good thing: they are too expensive anyways, and if all movies and music were free, people would focus much more on quality and not making money.
ReplyDeleteCheating on exams is a different thing, but sometimes the teachers are also unfair, so why should students play fair? If schools taught good, students wouldn't need to use cheating in order to pass exams.
Cheating is probably a natural part of being human. Even some animals cheat.
Stealing is stealing. Who prepared or did something that may need to be paid for it. So, If we take off the internet files, we are thieves. The fact that everybody else does it, it is no excuse.

I think that downloading music from the Internet is bad because the author does not make money and he stop write a new lyrics or music. If I will want sell this music it will be a crime because I earn the money for not my works.

I Agree with a Marta.I know that downloading, in some case, is a destruction of artistic work. But I see positive side of this phenomenon. A lot of people, due to the possibility , can expand their knowledge. We can read books , watch films and download other documents. But, on the other hand, if I I were an artist I would be probably against this situation.
ReplyDeleteI think it's quite complicated subject. I download music to make sure that I want to buy this CD. I admit that I do not always buy the CD. But I can't imagine buying all the CD's jus because I liked one of songs in it. It's also easier. We are all lying, all the time, our lies are sometimes so small, that we even not hink about it. When we are late to our job because we overslept, it's more possible that we say that our bus was late. It sounds more seriously, and we all want to be treated seriously. And it's also cheating. I don't think it is in our nature, but I know that we are all making it for a long time.

Cheating brings us a lot of excitement, adrenaline, that people like to feel. It is sad that we have the inclination to do so, but we can try to be fair. Fortunately - we have brains.

There is a lot of commercial rubbish and people just have found a way to find something noteworthy, when someone wants to see a movie or listen to music. I think making all the commercial, useless, tasteless, worthless, mindless crap should be illegal. When artist wants to make money on his art, the art should be top-quality. Then he will have no trouble with downloading.
I also think a crib sheet in an exam or blarney is not a crime.
