Effective
learning
When the
session is fast approaching, many students wake up from sleep and look with
horror at the passing time that is left until the exams. They start to panic
and think about how to quickly absorb a huge amount of information and not go
crazy. In this blog I will present the most effective ways to learn quickly.
A lot of
coffee
The most popular method among students is to drink hectoliters of coffee or energy drinks and study all night before the exam. However, the results of such learning may not be entirely satisfying.
Systematic
learning
If you want
to save your nerves before the session, it is important to plan your studies
well throughout the semester. An effective solution can be to set a definite time
during the week to learn a specific subject and regularly follow this
assumption. It is also important to clearly define how much time you want to
spend on understanding the topic, making learning more effective.
Good notes
The day
before the exam, it's worth refreshing all knowledge one last time.
Unfortunately, textbooks are often very substantial. Due to this fact quick
repetition is impossible. A good
solution to this problem is to make your own notes in advance, in which you
will write the most important information in the most accessible way for you. Moreover,
you will also remember the material faster when taking notes.
Flashcards
Flashcards are my favorite way of learning, especially vocabulary. On one page of a small piece of sheet, write down the word or topic, which you are about to learn and on the other side, a definition in another language or explanation. Later, you just move the cartons until you remember their contents. I highly recommend an online service www.quzilet.com where you can enter your flashcards, hear their pronunciation and practice writing.
Mind maps
When you
have an advanced and extensive subject or you are a visual learner, mind maps
can be an effective way. They consist in describing the main topic and dividing
it into categories from which specific issues are extracted. To create a mind
map, you can use a large number of colors and pictures, as well as frames and
arrows.
Learning in
a group
If learning
alone is not your cup of tea, it is worth learning with another person. Not
only will it be fun but it will be also more effective. If you choose this method,
you will motivate each other and solve incomprehensible issues together. What
is more, learning in a group allows you
to test your knowledge easier by doing quizzes or asking and answering questions.
During the
long learning, you should also remember about the appropriate conditions. It is
worth ventilating the room, taking care of silence, good light and the lack of
distractions such as a telephone or a computer. In addition, you should drink
plenty of water and take breaks regularly to give your brain a rest. The
optimal break should last about 10 minutes.
There is no
rescue from the session 😉 Fortunately, there are many ways of
learning efficiently. Try a few to see which one suits you the best.
What are
your most effective ways of learning?
