Winter Olympic Games will start in few months for the twenty-second time. In this edition in Sochi, Russia. We will see about 65 teams, each from another country and more than 2500 athletes will be participating in 98 events in 15 sports. The biggest hit will be speed skating (12), cross-country skiing (12) and biathlon (11). It's a huge winter sports event. But why? Why something there could be a hit? Half of this disciplines are popular only in few countries. For example curling (we'll be able to watch it whole Olympic Games) is really popular only in Canada, Scandinavia and eastern Europe. The same with bobsleigh, luge or skeleton. This kind of sport you can divide on two types: - extreme sports- considered to be sports , in which the practice requires extraordinary skill, courage and action in conditions of high-risk , often life-threatening e.g. bungee jump, motocross, mountain biking etc. - high risk sports e.g. ski jumping, snowboarding, martial arts, surfing, rafting etc. If it’s so dangerous why people practice these kinds of sports?
